One Piece: Wan pîsu (1999)
Something Everyone NEEDS to Experience
One Piece is the definitive adventure anime.
It's by far the most fun i've had with an anime in a extremely long time, which is jarring considering my experience with this series is rather different than others. Only anime or manga to make me feel what One Piece made me feel was Gintama, but that's a extremely way more unknown anime than One Piece is in the West.
Seriously. So much to say about a series that I could ramble on and on about because One Piece still has a lot of content to go over, despite being a series 3x bigger than your average shonen long-running series.
Even in its final saga currently, even with me being completely caught up with the Manga, it still has a lot to reveal and uncover with so many questions and mysteries that keep building up in the world of One Piece that seemingly gets answered as the show goes on.
One Piece's world is unlike any other, but i'm sure you've heard that many of times. One of its islands can be more complex than the world building in any other generic shonen anime, and i'm being completely serious, no exaggeration.
The characters are unlike any other as well, especially their character designs (being so...weird sometimes for shonen character designs), and even the side characters that are sometimes not really mentioned at all have so much depth within them, and a story to tell that makes this world feel more realistic and alive, considering even side characters have a reason to be there. I wish I could mention these characters, but if I do, then I would ramble about them and end up spoiling at the end, which would ruin the fun of watching.
One thing this series' fanbase loves to say is the phrase "Oda never forgets", which is absolutely true. 99% of the time, when something is mentioned and talked about in the show, then it will have a deeper meaning whether in the arc it's in, or later in the series where it will hold as a big revelation or the connection to something even MORE big. There's always connections between plotpoints throughout the whole series, which makes the world feel more connected.
The music in One Piece is absolutely iconic, and the Voice Actors in the series is surprisingly really damn good. Sub or dub isn't something I will argue which you should watch because they're both really good in their own ways, and they will still capture so much emotion and energy that will make you laugh at one second, then cry at the next.
None of the islands are redundant and they all feel so well-detailed with their own culture, languages, religion, etc. There's islands of cakes and sweats, an island that floats primarily on Water, you get the idea.
Which makes the journey to each island feel so damn grand and engaging to watch, because you really don't know what you are getting into.
That's not to say that this series doesn't come with its fair share of issues however. I'm not here just to praise the show only (despite it deserving all of the love it gets), it does come with some unfortunate issues that makes the anime so hard to get through and stick with at times, and some that made me transition to the Manga (which made me love the series significantly more).
The pacing is atrocious. Pre-Time skip (meaning the first couple of 500 episodes) have solid pacing and are all enjoyable, but after that we have some really damn annoying pacing that gets irritating to sit through. Dressrosa arc is the most infamous of them all for this issue, being around 140-ish episodes with absolute horrid pacing.
Some episodes only adapts 1 chapter, if not, 3/4ths of a chapter, which isn't enough so the series will start adding unnecessary scenes and do padding.
Sound effects is also really redundant and old in the series, even to this day, but that's like a minor nitpick because it's not bad at all and I don't mind it most of the time. Still wished they used new sound effects.
I really recommend reading the manga after Pre-Time skip because it's an significantly much more richer experience and won't take away your enjoyment from these arcs because they are still excellently written (Dressrosa is a fantastic arc when read from its source), but Toei Animation milks the show and doesn't know what to do with it during this dark era of the series.
I'd say if you do this, keep going for the rest of your One Piece journey, but if you still want to watch the anime, keep doing it until Wano Country Arc (starts at episode 892), as the animation team has a SIGNIFICANT change that makes One Piece actually look really damn great.
I'd say still keep reading because WANO still suffers from poor pacing many times, but if you do keep reading, please watch any of the major plot revelations or big fights in the anime because when i say that the animation studio made a change, I meant it. Some of the absolute best animated fights and sequences in the entire show, with some even being some of the best of the year it came out (1015, 1062, 1074). Missing out on these episodes will be an absolute shame, especially since it outshines the manga.
Another thing you can do if Manga isn't your thing is watching a fanmade project named ONE PACE where the pacing is adjusted with filler scenes cut off by fans of the series to give anime only audiences a better experience. I'm not too big on One Pace because I still think the manga is extremely better, but it's the best alternative option.
The animation and art of the series at the start isn't also the best to look at. Personally, I really love the vintage, nostalgic-esque 90s art style that the show once had (with it still being my favorite character art designs of the show), but I can understand if this isn't everyone's cup of tea considering the outstanding art and animation we get from newer shows nowadays.
I'd say still give it a chance, but if you don't like it, then you can wait until 2025's "The One Piece" comes out, which is a remake of the ENTIRE One Piece story, but with "better pacing" and with WIT studio behind it, being the ones behind popular shows like Attack on Titan.
The animation takes a steadily decline during Post-Time skip, but, again, it picks up on Wano. It's not the most jarring decline that'll take away from your experience, but it's still a decline at the end of the day.
As someone who read the Manga throughout the most of Post-Time skip, I really haven't found an issue with most of this and my experience with these arcs were really damn good, but I did watch episodes here and there and I was pretty stunned.
If you don't mind these issues then you will have the most fun watching this show.
It's no surprise that One Piece is always praised as one of the best animes ever. Its characters, world building, voice acting, music, storytelling, writing, and revelations are some of the best you'll ever see.
Character backstories that will completely break you, and you will feel SO many emotions watching this show from smiling, to laughing, to unstoppable sobbing.
Each of the members of the Straw Hats are so unique in their own way, and are all lovable. I hope you have a grand journey alongside them like the rest of us did, and be with us at that one day where they find the One Piece and achieve their goals.
The day One Piece ends will be a landmark in not only anime history, but history itself.
Rick and Morty: Solaricks (2022)
Great Start to a Season
'Solaricks' isn't as funny or creative as last season's premiere episode, but it's still a fantastic start to the 6th season. The meta jokes here are definitely elevated which can be a hit or miss to some, but I do find some humorous here and there.
The fact that we saw another reappearance of the potential murderer who killed Rick's original family was easily the best part of the episode obviously, and sets up some ideas and concepts for the season and its direction.
Not a big fan of Space Beth and the Beth we know constant bickering as its really predictable and irritating, but that's only a minor problem and seems to be resolved fairly quickly.
The throwbacks and references to the prior seasons of the show were enjoyable and rewarded long-time, focused viewers
Overall, strong start to a season. It has higher ups than downs and still manages to have the charm of Rick and Morty that we all love.
South Park: The Streaming Wars (2022)
Solid Start, but messy and weak ending
This special isn't bad in any way, but I feel as if it's the most inconsistent and narratively boring out of the rest of the other specials. It's just not as entertaining or conceptually as grabbing as the previous, but that doesn't make it bad whatsoever.
The first half of the special is definitely its highlight. Cartman signing, Randy being called a Karen, etc are some of my favorite moments from the special; but the rest falls flat. The manbearpig plot is so overdone it's really repetitive. They don't really do anything special with him other than giving him another cameo in the special and killing off the commissioner.
I liked the streaming war and the social commentary they were going for. It was a bit on the nose but it was still pretty sharp. I wasn't a big fan of the scene with Steve climbing the mountain and finding rental dealers being attacked. It was alright, nothing too funny but nothing intolerable
All in all, this special was pretty average with some good highs and mediocre lows. It doesn't really stand out that much; and it would be overlooked as a dud if it was a episode on the show if i'm being honest. Still enjoyed it.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Pride (2022)
Solid Episode with Funny Bits
While this episode isn't the most action packed, or the most suspenseful/tense of the season, it definitely eases us up with some funny moments that gives us a cool down before a major twist in the series.
The reveal of Levi being alive was definitely the highlight of the episode, but Annie eating the pie and Connie laughing at her was funny and definitely unexpected. Along with Connie's lie to Floch to feed him to his mom.
But this episode also gives us some really essential moments like Jean revealing he was on Marley's side, the team up of Arnie and the others, etc. Definitely a good episode, can't wait for next week!
South Park: City People (2022)
Not Great. Not Bad.
This episode is better than the premiere episode of the season, I won't lie. But this episode is also another shallow self of its former older seasons charm that the staff tried their hardest to capture. It has its funny bits, like any other South Park episode (fortunately), but it has also its more over dragged and mediocre aspects here and there.
The best episode so far into the season is shockingly, last episode which was a Tegridy park driven episode. I don't believe all of Season 25 will be bad, but hopefully it does get better as a massive fan of the show.
This episode focus on Cartman becoming another real estate agent, just like his mother, to try and make her quit the job so she can focus on Cartman again. It's a decent premise, but the execution is somewhat alright. It's just repetitiveness. Which can be funny to others, but for me it's annoying, especially if I didn't find a certain joke that funny the 1st time. I understand the point they were going for, and I wouldn't mind if they repeated it 3-4 times, but it DRAGS ON FOR THE ENTIRE EPISODE.
It's tiring and boring when it's predictable. We all know what's going to happen. Cartman will get Liane back but it comes with a consequence. To be far though, the ending was hilarious. I wonder if continuity will take affect and this will be focused on later, because it's a great change. But other than that, meh episode.
Shingeki no Kyojin: From You, 2000 Years Ago (2022)
An Phenomenal Follow-Up to the Incredible Last Episode
Attack on Titan just CONTINUES to keep surprising me, with one of the best writing, directing, and plot twists in anime history.
This episode itself is a masterpiece, the past of the founder, Ymir, is really emotional and gives us some depth and backstory to the character. I could ramble why it's so good, but that would make this an essay. Every minute of the backstory was essential for the show, and proved to us that Eren was really doing the right thing.
Eren getting help from the founder of Ymir got me excited, wandering what he's going to next with the power of the Founder. But, the most exciting part of the episode was the ending, it got me on the edge of my chair and it sucks that i'll have to wait a whole week for a new episode, but it's definitely worth it. The last shot of the episode before the ending credits was beautiful and great art.
Overall, top-tier episode. This season continues becoming much better with some really great writing. Kudos to the staff.
South Park: Pajama Day (2022)
Decent Start to the Show's 25th Anniversary Season
'Pajama Day' is a relatively satisfactory episode with some funny jokes. I don't believe It's one of South Park's best for sure, and there are some aspects of this episode I honestly found weird (Cartman agreeing with Wendy without insulting her/arguing with here, Mr. Mackey's voice, etc).
But it's also far from the worst, with some great moments like the scene where it loops back into PC Principal going back into the classroom after Mr. Garrison gets pissed at Butters and the class or Cartman's nightmare.
All in all, its a decent way to start a new season of South Park that we all needed. I honestly wanna know where they go for this season as for 1 1/2 years this show only focused on COVID and it's impact on the world. I can't wait for the next episode, and the direction this season will go in!
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang Carries a Corpse Up a Mountain (2021)
GREAT SEASON FINALE
Season 15 def picked up from its first two meh episodes, and ended with a bang!
Charlie breaking down because of the abandonment of his dad was heart breaking and by far, one of the saddest scenes in the entire series.
But this episode also contains some hilarious moments, whether it's the satirical "i have a right" scene during the Irish bar with the waitress or the scene where the gang gets upset at Mac being annoying about his personality of being a "Dutch" (which was later revealed to be a set up by Dennis and Charlie), or even the piss-in-the-bottle scene with Frank and Charlie.
In conclusion, this was definitely one of the best episodes in the entire season, if not the best along with "The Gang's Still in Ireland" & "The Gang Replaces Dee with a Monkey". Can't wait for Season 16!
The Many Saints of Newark (2021)
Never was going to be as good as 'The Sopranos'
'The Sopranos' is one of my favorite television shows of all time, being a timeless masterpiece with outstanding writing and a phenomenal cast; so, I already knew this movie wasn't going to be on par or even near the league of this legendary TV show, but that didn't mean they couldn't have made it better or at least tried.
I'm sorry, but I absolutely hate what they did adding the riots in a mafia movie. Not only does it make the movie incredibly messy and sloppy, but it has NOTHING to do with 'The Sopranos'. It's like this movie had nothing to do with 'The Sopranos' and only used references from it to gain attention. I think this could've been much better if it was a mini series, rather than a movie.
The acting was really mediocre and let's be honest, we knew none of the actors were going to be as good as the original cast. Alessandro played a pretty meh Dickie Moltisanti where he shines in one scene, and is below average in others. Michael Gandolfini, unfortunately, was the actor I had my hopes up the most thinking he'll make a great Tony Soprano, but he can't act...Not only that, but he is barely in the movie. I'll say he's probably on screen at a maximum of 30m which is disappointing, but he wasn't as good as an actor to really be unfortunate to why he wasn't utilized well. The rest of the cast were pretty meh, John Magaro plays a bad Silvio IMO, he just over-exaggerates the character.
The writing and directing here is just plain bad. You can't really put two completely DIFFERENT plots together and expect it to be a well-made movie. The cinematography is somewhat WAY worse than the original TV show, which is sad considering it came out 21 years ago. However, it isn't surprising. 'The Sopranos' has one of the best cinematography i've seen in a long time!
I loved Christopher Moltisanti's narration though, it fits him well and he isn't that bad of an narrator; but I do miss him a lot! Good thing we had a entire scene with baby Christopher and Tony.
Overall, it's a bad prequel. It does little things right, and many things wrong. I wouldn't say this is a "pointless" prequel which most people say because I believe we needed this, but that doesn't make it a good one. It's an necessary film that's unfortunately terrible.
Ojing-eo geim: Unsu joeun nal (2021)
What?
I absolutely hated this finale. Not only was the first half just uninteresting and boring but the reveal of the old man being the "mastermind" behind the games completely destroys his character arc, and ruins the impact of his "death" during the 6th episode.
The second half is surprisingly even worse, with the amount of insaneness, ruthless, brutal games Gi went through, he still doesn't learn his lesson. This is probably his MOST stupid in the entire show without all the redeeming qualities that made his stupidity in the show understandable.
What makes me mad the most was the last couple of minutes. He makes the decision not to visit his daughter? It's ridiculous because that was his main REASONING to even join the games. But now, he doesn't? This is probably the most pathetic way to open up a 2nd season, and I'll doubt it'll be as good as the first 6 episodes of this season.
Overall, horrible finale. I gave it a 5/10 because I liked the fact that the Squid Games were being recycled to newer players, and seeing Gi's reaction to it. It makes us remember how different Gi was when he first discovered the game to after he played it. Shows how much the character has changed throughout the show. Still, really really disappointing finale and last 3 episodes of the show with dumb dialogue and sub-par acting.
Oh yeah, the introduction to the VIPs were probably the most useless and stereotypical characters I've seen so far. The show would've still maintained it's charm without those characters.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: CharDee MacDennis: The Game of Games (2011)
A Game Beyond Human Comprehension
Oh man, what a season this one has been. While it's not my favorite, it definitely deserves the love it gets for releasing great episode after great episode, and this is no exception.
CharDee MacDennis starts off with the gang being bored as usual, until Mac arrives and Dennis suggests an old game created by the gang before Frank was introduced into the show. Frank is obviously curious about this game he never heard of, and wants to play it along with them. They separate into teams with Charlie, Frank, and Mac in one, and Dee and Dennis in another. Then, the game begins.
If you haven't noticed, the gang isn't separated into the teams the titles has them in, it's just a fun little joke the writers wrote in because of how many fans ship each character.
The game is really, really dumb but that's what makes it so hilarious to see them descend into madness. It's unpredictable, and to see the gang treat each other like trash with the yelling cut-offs makes this one of the funniest episodes this show has ever had.
Each line in this episode is not only quotable, but golden due to each cast's delivery. Dennis saying "He's a b*stard man!" (for some reason this is against IMDb policy) and "Shut up, dog!" then proceeding to throw "wine" on Frank is one of my favorite lines delivery in this show. But, each character shines in their own in this episode.
Overall, it's high-quality television. If you love the chaotic and zany natures of the gang, along with outstanding writing and great script, then this is probably going to be in your top IASIP episodes. Shocking how this masterwork of an episode doesn't have any reviews yet. Also, the header of this review is a joke for those who don't understand.
Friends: The Last One (2004)
Meh episode, underwhelming finale
Friends isn't a personable favorite of mine, but I won't lie that it contains some really solid episodes that makes it understandable why it's considered great, but there is some episodes that shock me to why they are highly-rated.
Now, don't get me wrong, 'The Last One' isn't a BAD episode, it has its moments that stick with you, but as the conclusion to the series? Really? Is this all you got?
I really wanted to like it as much as the others did, I mean, I did like Friends despite it jumping the shark seasons ago, and wanted the series to end with a high note, but instead what we got is some basic cliché ending that could LITERALLY be replicated in any other show. Not only that, but the way they forcefully try to make Ross and Rachel a relationship after breaking them up for, what it feels like a million times, is INCREDIBLY repetitive and annoying. I understood what they were going for, but the plot of this episode and the directing did not connect to it at all and did poorly to support what they were going for. Everything just feels messy
It feels like they wanted to think of a way to satisfy the fans who love this toxic relationship by adding something that probably didn't even come in mind to the staff until they were half-way done so they just slapped it onto the final minutes and call it a day.
The writing here is also sloppy, and disappointing to say the least. The fact that this episode is ranked on-par with the brilliant and well-written 'The One Where Everybody Finds Out' or even 'The One with the Embryos' is baffling.
Overall, its a mediocre finale with, IMO, a disappointing closure that tried its best to please. I don't blame the writers though, making an finale for a long-running series that contents everyone is DIFFICULT (look at Seinfeld). But, that doesn't change my outlook or what I think about the ending, and hopefully it doesn't to you.
Community: Geothermal Escapism (2014)
Troy's Final Chapter
Dan Harmon, you are a genius. This episode is my favorite so far in a season that's a massive improvement from the last. The episode starts off with a premise similar to the paint gun and pillow/blanket war episodes, but instead with the "floor is lava" concept. While this episode is mostly on the game and the survival of the main cast, what makes this episode so special was its final minutes. Troy departing from the gang was probably the most emotional moment we've ever gotten so far in the show, and the scene where Abed just stares at Troy leaving makes me genuinely sad, which not most shows can do. I wonder what can they do without a major character like Troy, and how the show will feel like after Donald Glover's departure. Nonetheless, this is an outstanding episode that concludes one of my favorite characters, and proves Community can still deliver masterpieces.
Rick and Morty: Rickmurai Jack (2021)
BEST EPISODE OF THE SEASON
Wow. With the way the 5th season was going I thought we were only going to get decent-to-mediocre episodes each weekend, but this episode BLEW MY MIND. This episode is not only the greatest episode since Vat of the Acid, but one of the BEST episodes of Rick and Morty in general, if not the best. The previous episode was great, but it doesn't hold a stick to this masterpiece of an episode. It also shows that there is going to be more material for Rick & Morty season 6 and beyond, which we all are looking for. While this season was definitely one of the worst, it contains a gem, a triumph that is comparable to the Ricklantis Mixup episode. Thank you everyone who worked on this episode for giving us this, now THIS IS CLASSIC RICK AND MORTY WE LOVE.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs (2016)
wow.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia was never afraid to show how much of a crazy narcissistic lunatic each member of the gang was, but this episode was just something else.
This episode has Dennis and Mac at their most sociopathic. It starts off pretty normal, but as the episode progresses, we see one of the most PSYCHOTIC things to ever happen in this show. And quite frankly, I absolutely adore it.
Dennis has always shown big hits throughout the show of being a maniac, but it has never went as far as the episode took it. Mac feeding Dennis the dead dog he bought for the two of them with his 'famous' Mac & Cheese is still by far, the most VILE thing I have ever witness him do, and Dennis going into madness with him threatening the people causing the traffic, not being able to get enough sleep, and even 'attempting' to murder Wally is always something I remember fondly (even if it turned out not to be Wally). We of course can't forget one of the most iconic moments in the show, which is Dennis imagining himself stripping naked, and screaming at Wally.
This wouldn't be an It's Always Sunny episode if it wasn't filled with dark comedy, and boy is there a ton of them. The humor here is absolutely HILARIOUS. While it isn't the funniest episode the show has ever produced, the fact that this episode can still be dark, hysterical, extremely well-written, and entertaining at the same time makes it deserving of an emmy.
Overall, this episode is top tier, and shows how this show doesn't lose its creativity despite the fact that it has been airing for 11 years. If the show continued making episodes like these, I would enjoy them all the way and not get tired of them (but I like the fact that it's a one-time thing too). I would recommend this EASILY to anyone looking for dark humor at it's best, and those who absolutely loved the "Scott Tenorman Must Die" episode from South Park.
The Midnight Gospel (2020)
Underrated Piece of Entertainment
The Midnight Gospel is a animated television show used to visualize Duncan's family hour podcast. This might be a turn-off to some people, even people who are fans of his work, because they think this show would be tons of boring interviews that go no-where, and I am happily to say, you are wrong.
This TV show's interviews are mostly on things most people think about on a daily basis, like the purpose of life, philosophy on religions, the death of someone you care about, etc. And the visuals are suppose to "compliment" most of that.
Now, despite calling this show underrated, I still have some problems. Mostly, the visuals, and how distracting they are. I don't know if it's just me, but even if it's on a topic I find interest in, the visuals distract me from all of it (even if they are the type of animation I love). And its kind of annoying, making me rewind a specific scene because I lost tons of dialogue. This is my main problem with the show, and quite possibly my "only" problem with the show because the others are minor nit-picks.
The soundtrack is good, nothing to blabber or over praise about, but it's still something pretty decent. Honestly, I miss 95% of the soundtrack because I don't focus on it.
The art is unique, and the animation is pretty good. I love how abstract and acid-type the background of the show looks, and the character design for Clancy is great. There is some sloppy animation at split seconds to compliment the acid-type look, but it isn't anything to complain about. In fact, it helps the show.
The interviews are interesting to some, and I'm in the minority. I'm not a big fan of philosophy, but I still find it to be something worth listening about so I can hear other people beliefs/theories on certain things and see if it changes my outlook in life. This show definitely does it right, especially the finale episode for the show. My GOD was that emotional, and relatable. They are your usual philosophical arguments again, but still great to hear.
Overall, this show is good. I couldn't really talk about the characters because they are just one-off ones (taking away the last episode), but I will say Clancy is a great main character. I wouldn't recommend it to Adventure Time fans, but I would recommend it to fans of Duncan. 8/10.
BoJack Horseman: Fish Out of Water (2016)
Impeccable Gem.
I think my headline perfectly describes what this episode is, a beautiful, dialogue-less, gem. Fish Out of Water to some might seem like an overrated episode, or one of the weaker higher rated episodes Bojack has ever had. And while, I am baffled to hear this, I can understand why. But that doesn't mean I agree, in fact, I HEAVILY disagree.
This has Bojack at his most pleasant, helping others instead of abusing or hurting them. This time, its a baby Sea Horse who was lost from their father. The adventures Bojack has with the Sea Horse to bring him back to his family is something I would love to see more in Bojack, even if the show ended, and I still find it as one of the most friendly things he has ever done for someone he didn't even know personally.
The sound track is a 10/10, and goes along with the type of vibes happening in this episode perfectly. I would definitely listen to this specific episode's soundtrack every time and still not find it boring to listen to, it's just that GOOD.
The visuals are amusing and stunning to watch, and makes this subtle episode even more beautiful. I can watch this episode a million times, literally, and still find it to be vibrant and engaging.
The other reviewers practically nailed down on what makes this episode fantastic and stand out from the rest, so I wasn't able to list everything that made this episode immaculate.
Overall, this episode is a masterpiece. If you haven't seen it already, what are you waiting for? It will blow your mind how original and captivating it is. Top 3 Bojack Horseman episodes, and one of the best episodes in television IMO.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole (2017)
A great sequel, but doesn't have the 'charm' as its predecessor
South Park: The Fractured but Whole is a weird game for me. It's somewhat of a sequel to South Park: The Stick of Truth but doesn't feel like it. The game definitely has a more interesting concept than the last game, but the comedy (which I consider to be the most important part of the game) seemed to be a bit alright compared to the TSOT. Other than that, what a great game this is.
Plot
The game begins with The Coon (roled by Eric Cartman) discussing to his other dressed-up superhero friends about their film franchise and how it is going to be handled. Which leads to an argument and half of the team splitting up and forming a new team (The Freedom Pals), who are in a disagreement with The Coon's decisions. They now consider each other enemies and thus creating a "civil war".
I am already on board with this plot, it seems pretty interesting even from the first view. The way they execute this plot throughout the game is really amusing and keeps the players entertained. 8.9/10. The only problem is that the writing isn't as strong as the prequel.
Graphics
The graphics haven't really changed, and they are kept to be identical to the original series. The quality seemed to be higher from the last, but other than that its practically the same. 9.0/10
Combat
Now, this is the combat I'm looking for. This is perhaps the BEST thing about this game that I prefer over TSOT. It's much more clever, and you have more choices. You can not only pick attacks from so many different superhero abilities, but you have the choice to re-arrange your team so you can use other characters. I absolutely loved this, and it always made a battle intriguing to play. 9.3./10. There is still some bugs to the battle system, like being in one square and one of your team mates gets knocked out and go to your square and your stuck standing there. The only way to fix this is to restart the fight or restart the game.
Characters
This game has MUCH more playable characters, which single-handedly makes me like this more than the ones in TSOT. The characters consist of: Cartman, Kenny, Kyle, Stan, Scott, Timmy, Token, Craig, Tweek, Wendy, Butters, Bradley, and of course your own character. 10/10
Comedy
I didn't have this category for my other review on TSOT, but I will do it for this one. Like I said, I didn't find it as hilarious as the prequel but its still undoubtedly funny with the most abrupt ending in both games. The writing in the comedy isn't as sharp too. 8.4/10.
Controls
The controls are fine. Nothing changed except for the fact that the commands for walking is different from the ones in the last game. It's still nice controls in a nice game. Though the only thing that bugged me out is that you can't run which is somewhat a huge thing for me because it's annoying how long it takes to get somewhere without calling Timmy. 8.7/10.
Soundtrack
I find the soundtrack in this game to be a step up from its predecessor, but it isn't a major one. I didn't think TSOT's soundtrack was even close to being bad, but TFBW's soundtrack is definitely something I would listen to more. 9.1/10
Experience
My experience in this game is the biggest let down. While I do think the battle system in this game gave me a better experience in combat than the other, both still eventually got boring at times. There is SO many bugs in this game. I purchased and refunded this game multiple of times because I thought there was something wrong with it. The fights are extremely hard and can take up to 10-20 tries maximum which becomes stressful. I didn't find the last game to be sadly easy, but this is just stressful hard. ESPECIALLY THE MUTANT KYLE AND MITCH CONNER FIGHT. The side quests are unfortunately much weaker than the last game and there isn't even a lot of them. I did like the Tweek and Craig side quests though, it was something different from the other side quests. The game felt like a huge drag, and when I thought the game was going to be over, the game just continues. That thought that continously pops up in my head made me feel like this game is a chore (kindish). There is some aspect I still loved about this game, like the hilarious plot twists and the main quests. But I absolutely HATED the bugs that came out with the game and never got fixed, they are so annoying and sometimes makes this game unplayable for me. 7.7-7.9/10
Overall
This game is a great sequel with a few bugs but it still holds up. It isn't even close to being as fun as the prequel, but its still something I would definitely recommend you buying if you haven't.
South Park: The Stick of Truth (2014)
South Park's Best Video Game
If you've never seen South Park before, I highly recommend you to do so before playing the video game because its FULL of references from the show that you will appreciate once you understand them. Alright, lets go onto the game. It's GREAT. As a South Park fan, this is literally everything I've ever wanted from a South Park game.
IMPORTANT: If you dislike South Park, you will not like the game.
PLOT
The plot in the game is well-written, clever, and extremely original. It's on the same level as some really good well-written South Park episodes quality wise IMO.
GRAPHICS/ANIMATION
The graphics are SPOT ON. The visuals are the exact same as the one in the show so it feels like you are watching a South Park episode, but instead you are playing. You can pick whether or not you want the quality of your graphics to be high or low which does affect the graphics obviously, but barely anything changes. The way you move. The way you sprint. The way you jump. It's so GOOD and satisfying to watch. 10/10
CONTROLS
I played this game on PC so I don't know how others experience this game on consoles like Xbox 360 or PS3, but the controls are for the most part good. I do wish that I can change the walking commands on the game but disregarding that, its a fine game with fine controls. 8.9/10
COMBAT
The combat is fine and overhated. Yes, it's a repetitive and pretty basic and I do prefer TFBW's combat structure, but its not bad. The combat mechanisms is a tad boring though because of the fact that it is too simplistic. 7.8/10
CHARACTERS
The game has every character done RIGHT. The characters just 'feel' like they are apart of an episode but instead in a 5-8h+ short game. I appreciate this tremendously because while it doesn't consist the best of every character, we see more 'screen time' with other minor characters in South Park play major roles that fit them. 10/10
SOUNDTRACK
The soundtrack is repetitive at times but its hilarious and thrilling to listen to. I love the main menu and intro theme music and can listen to it for more than 5x. Though, I wish they hadn't overused the City Streets theme. 9.0/10.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay in this game is somewhat a great part of the game to me. The divergent paths that take you into the background, allowing greater freedom of movement is so appeasing to me for some reason. 9.1/10
EXPERIENCE
My experience in this game is mainly the reason why I gave this game a huge high rating score. While objectively it isn't the best RPG game, I absolutely enjoyed it throughout my experience with it. Though there is times where I am a tad bored, but that only happens 1-2 times during the game. 10/10
OVERALL
This game is a masterpiece to me. It's a absolute fantastic RPG with classic turn based elements and HILARIOUS comedy. All South Park fans NEED to play this game immediately because while playing it, you feel like you are apart of the show. One of the funniest video games ever.
Mob Psycho 100 (2016)
ONE is presenting us with another masterpiece
After the success of ONE's previous work, One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100 was released a year later and it's without a doubt, ONE's best work till this day. It's unbelievably emotional, well-written, has one of the best visuals in anime as expected from ONE, beautiful story, great life lessons, memorable characters, hilarious, wholesome, acceptable soundtrack, GREAT fights, and this is only for its 1st season. Unlike OPM, the 2nd season is SIGNIFICANTLY better in almost-to-every aspect. Arguably, the BEST anime series in 2016. And hopefully there will be the 3rd season soon. If you haven't seen this series, I highly recommend you to do so.
American Dad!: American Fung (2015)
Unfortunately, one of the more popular American Dad episodes
American Dad! Is a great series. It's hilarious, sometimes creative, and despite having a lot of problems, enjoyable. Now with that out of the way, this episode is horrible and unfunny. People say that the episode is SUPPOSE to be cheesy and bad, but that doesn't mean $!&@ to me tbh. Even if its meant to be bad, I'm not gonna change my opinion just because its suppose to be bad. It doesn't even feel like a American Dad episode, it feels like a terrible 22 min special advertisement with the AD characters. This episode is honestly frustrating to watch, and nothing really special happened. They just go into situations so this "Chinese Billionaire" can 'break' the 4th wall to make 'humorous' jokes. I'm sorry, but I can't see how the writers can even air this despicable mess on TV like its normal. The WORST episode on American Dad.
Yakusoku no Neverland (2019)
Season 1: 8/10, Season 2: 2/10
What happens when you deprive your anime adaptation from its original manga source? You get this mess. The Promised Neverland, or TPN for short, is a intriguing horror anime which got interesting more and more as the series progressed during its 1st season until the season ended with an satisfactory finale.
This was the point where the fans were upset and demanded a 2nd season to be released. Eventually, the 2nd season was released...but it was different. The next arc was suppose to be the Goldy Pond arc but this seemed to be something totally different. The manga readers were upset and disappointed, but the anime watchers didn't mind. The 1st episode was alright and seemed to be an average TPN episode but then the next episode was an extremely weak one and unfortunately, the episodes after the 2nd were becoming more and more weak. But those episodes couldn't come near to the DISASTER that was called the 'ending' for the 2nd season.
After I finished the season, I sat down with a friend, and these were my exact words. "My god was this season $&!@". Hurts to say, but TPN is no longer a series I can recommend for others when they are looking for a great series, at least if they want to complete an ENTIRE show (though I might recommend only watching the 1st season alone to them either way). This should teach a lesson to new animes to take their manga sources instead of trying to be original because 9 times out of 10, it will become a hot piece of garbage.
Gravity Falls (2012)
YES, IT'S THAT GOOD.
Gravity Falls, is without a doubt, one of the BEST animated series on television and one of the best cartoon on Disney XD. It's surprising how such a deep and 'kid friendly' show can have such dark elements in each episode. Each episode just becoming much more interesting and better than the previous. My only complaint with this show is that it is SO SHORT. But it's also a good thing, considering the fact that most shows that run for a long time lose their consistency and start to collapse. The show is EXTREMELY WELL WRITTEN, visually smoothing and fluent, hilarious, clever, dark, entertaining, and heart-warming. Weirdmageddon is hands down the best arc on Disney with a really emotional ending episode. Nothing Disney release will ever touch this show for years. It's already going down as a classic.
Toy Story (1995)
An unforgettable Pixar gem
Such a classic! Each Toy Story sequel just seems to get better and better. Some are improvements and some are on par with their predecessors, which is a feat that isn't as easy as people make it out to be. Disregarding that, this entire franchise is the only reason I even KNOW Pixar (and I'm pretty sure it also introduced Pixar to many others as well). The CGI is rough as of today in the 1st and 2nd movie but at its time, it was just beautiful and shocking. The characters are extremely likable, funny, the story is well written, plot twists are unexpected and surprising, great execution, satisfactory soundtrack, and by far ONE OF THE MOST ENTERTAINING PIXAR MOVIE THERE IS. Toy Story is without a doubt, one of the most successful, popular, and best-animated films till this day.
Family Guy: Road to the Multiverse (2009)
Hands down, the BEST Family Guy episode
I don't think you even need me to explain why I believe this episode is the best in the entire show. It's a brilliant masterpiece. It's unbelievably amusing, written well, executed amazingly, creative, Brian and Stewie (yes, this is one of the reasons why I believe it's an amazing episode), interesting from start to finish, and the most important thing, IT'S SO ENJOYABLE. If you are a Family Guy fan and still haven't checked this episode out, you are missing out peak Family Guy and quite possibly one of your favorite episodes.
