Les quatre cents coups (1959)
An amazing French New Wave film!
In black and white, one of the best films ever made, Francois Truffaut's semi-autobiographical first feature film and one of the best movies of the French New Wave movement.
The 400 blows (1959) is the first of the "The Adventures of Antoine Doinel" series of films (with Antoine Doinel the main character of all these films played by the iconic Jean-Pierre Léaud) that also include: Antoine and Colette (1962), Stolen Kisses (1968), Bed and Board (1970), and Love on the Run (1979).
This was a very personal film by Francois Truffaut based on many of his childhood experiences including uninterested parents, oppressive schools and trouble with the Law.
Francois Truffaut made this film only at the age of 27 and the film won several awards.
It is now considered as part of the 100 best films ever made by most film critics and film lists all over the world.
