Wheel of Fortune (1983– )

Very poor timing.
29 June 2023
The producers showed a tremendous amount of disrespect to Pat Sajak by announcing his replacement a year before they needed to. The man has helped make Wheel what it is today and I think they should have let him have his glory year before announcing his replacement. Shame on them. As for the show, I watch it mostly for the puzzles and some of the goofy contestants and of course our genial host. Thoughts about his replacement, I like Ryan Seacrest just fine, he seems like a nice guy, but I'm afraid that's where the problem lies. He's a bit milk toast, I think they should have taken more time and found someone a little edgier.

Funny, charming and sweet
17 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this for the first time today and I can kick myself for not seeing it sooner. It was delightful. Garbo is perfect parodying her persona, she starts very staunch and stoic and after a few bad jokes, a prat fall and a few glasses of champagne; she comes to life right before our eyes. Ernst Lubitsch knew exactly what he was doing by getting Greta Garbo to do this film. The chemistry she has with Melvyn Douglas is delectable, there's a scene where he is talking to her and all the acting she does is with her eyes, it's so well done. Her three comrades are charming, funny and sweet and they help supply the happy ending. There were lots of laugh out loud moments. You mustn't overlook the production design, costumes, hair, makeup and a cool hat. For those that call it propaganda, you have to remember the time; people in the free world were worried about losing their way of life and felt threatened by the communists.

Wish I could unsee
29 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I almost wish I hadn't watched this, the only redeeming part was Ana de Armas's performance. She embodied Marilyn and Norma Jeane and easily flipped between the two, sometimes in the same sentence. She's the only reason I gave it two stars. I was ten when Marilyn died and even at that age I was very aware of her and her dazzling presence. I grew up watching baseball and always had Joe DiMaggio on a pedestal and boy was I surprised. I had to look it up because I couldn't believe he struck her, I could have gone the rest of my life not knowing that. And I wish I could unsee the entire JFK scene, he's always been a hero to me and shame on whoever made all that up. How could anyone witness that episode and then tell about it? There was much more to Marilyn Monroe than being just a victim. I wish Ana de Armas was given the entire woman to portray.

Perfect in every way.

At last we can start making fun of the pandemic. Bravo Greg Garcia you have done it again Sir and better than ever. Thank you SO much for bringing this real good comedy to us and for free no less! I would pay to watch this. I loved Garret and Martha in Raising Hope and I adore them here. There is not a dud among any of the performers everyone is equally hilarious in their own way. I love the lovable idiot Rooster. A southern woman would say about him, "Bless his heart." The only actor missing is Cloris Leachman, but sadly we lost her. I mourn for the part you would have created for her Greg. Perfect scripts, excellent direction, everything is top notch. Don't ever stop making these, please.

It was an enjoyable evening.
11 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this at a midnight showing, we just happened to go on the night when a bunch of theatre students attended. They made it much more enjoyable, random people shouting; "production values!" or "where did the guns come from?", or "I can't hear it." I'm embarrassed to say that I bought the DVD, but it was only around $6. It's truly bad twice.

Enjoyment over predictability
9 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Moments of delight make you forget the predictability of this film. From the nude scene, "Why are you wet!", to any of the dogs scenes to Betty White, who was the reason I wanted to watch this since her recent death. They make it enjoyable.

A Nailbiter
26 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've been watching since the first season, this latest season is undoubtedly the best one. All twelve bakers were excellent but the final three were the best ever. They were neck and neck in the final, I thought Giuseppe blew it but his show stopper was perfect, congrats to Chig and Crystelle you both did great jobs!

Terrific show

I've been a fan of Steve Martin's since the beginning, I saw him early on in his career when he said, "Excuse Me" and wore an arrow through his head. Loved him on SNL every single time he was on, Bowfinger is one of my favorite movies. I was delighted to see that he can still do physical comedy, his antics in getting to the elevator and the subsequent mayhem that ensued had me roaring. Really a fun show to watch and I can't wait to see how that awful woman died.

Laughter through tears
24 September 2021
Laughter through tears, my favorite emotion. This episode delivered that in spades! I was crying through Ted's story and then he asked her if she was going to charge him for this session. I laughed through my sobs, it felt wonderful. Great episode, it may be my favorite so far.

Best Show
20 August 2021
I haven't loved a show as much as I love Ted Lasso in a very long time. Thank you EVERYONE involved, the episodes just get better and better. All the characters endear themselves to you and their memories stays with you long after the credits roll. I gasped when the text message hint was dropped. I've been wondering for some time if this was the direction they might be going. I look forward to seeing how this plays out.
