Downtown Owl (2023)
Pointless and Stupid
If you're going to have the storm of the century don't show characters walking in the snow afterwards when it doesn't even come up to the bottom of their boots. Just one example of the pointless stupidity of this movie. Another is a football team in the locker room with about five players. It goes on and on.
Hardly anyone in the movie seems remotely real. And despite their efforts you would have a hard time caring about what happens to any of them. At the end of the movie when the newspaper shows that one of them dies, you will probably go, "Huh, who cares," and go directly to IMDB to give it a poor review.
Suze (2023)
Pleasant surprise
I was prepared not to like this movie, and almost didn't bother watching it at all. It kind of looked like it would be one of those throwaways, too dumb to take seriously, a waste of time.
Boy, was I was wrong. I absolutely loved it. The acting by the three leads was great, exceptional really, and everybody else was believable and seemed real. The story was very good - interesting, funny, and charming. Whoever put this together really has something going for them, I liked everything about it. I couldn't find a single thing wrong with it, and I usually find something. The most pleasant surprise I can remember watching a movie.
My Dad's Christmas Date (2020)
Incredibly Underrated
I was shocked how good this movie was. Maybe because I expected a Hallmark type movie, but it was several cuts above. Some bad choices were made - the title sounds Halmarky and there is some miscasting (the dead wife) but yeah, so good.
Plan B (2021)
One Drug Store? Seriously?
So, they are rejected at one drug store, but don't think to try the hundreds of others between there and their next destination? It's so incredibly stupid that it ended the movie for me right there.
