One can not measure the quality of this film by modern standards. To recognize its qualities the viewer needs to know a certain minimum about the historical context in which the film was made. Furthermore; to fully appreciate the film one has to take into consideration the technical limitations at the time as well as the very small population numbers and extremely shy behave of the Scandinavian brown bears. Knowing all of this, the film can not be overrated.
