Swallowed (2022)
It's gay p0rn in the form of a movie
The acting wasn't bad but the subject matter and heavy push for gay sexual situations ruined the movie for me. Scenes like fisting another man and fishing around in his rear end fo pull out stuff. Just beware if you aren't into that type of subject matter. I think most people will be turned off by the subject matter and won't find in enteraining. So i am posting this review so you know what you are getting in to. If you are looking for a great horror movie, try Session 9, Final Prayer, Honeymoon, the pact. These are all smaller budget movies that are very entertaining. I would recommend any one of those over this movie.
What Lies Below (2020)
The good reviews are definitely fake
The ending is so weak it ruins anything that happened before it. The main characters make completely stupid nonsense decisions throughout the movie... Then they throw in some politics and take a shot at Trump. I know surprise right. Don't water your time on this one. Watch Session 9 instead.
Before the Flood (2016)
Scrap Global Warming, now it is Climate Change
Ever notice how the liberal media is running from the term "global warming" like its the ebola virus. The evidence for global warming is collapsing. So they switch to climate change. Of course the climate is changing, it is in a constant state of flux. This way, if it gets cooler, BAM, climate change. If it get hotter, BAM, climate change. And then to hear this from Leonardo Dicaprio. A man that flies in a private jet and spews more carbon than a small city. People, think... Question everything.
Camera Trap (2014)
Better than average found footage film
This was a pleasant surprise. I have watched almost all of the horror movies with a rating of 4 or higher. There are so many turds out there. This is not one of them. The cinematography and location were very good. The acting was well above average as well. But most importantly the characters were believable. It had scenes that reminded me of Alien. Not much gore but a lot of tension... my type of movie. Apparently i have to have 10 lines of text so the rest of the review is optional. If you like movies where the characters are competent (like the Descent or maybe Aliens) you might enjoy this movie. One of my biggest gripes with most horror movies is that they make the people complete idiots. I find it annoying and end up wanting them to die or not caring. I greatly prefer movies like this one were the people are just trying to do their job and be good at it.
The Facility (2012)
Better than expected
In summary, the acting was solid, the story was solid, and there was a lot of tension throughout. I am really surprised by the low rating for this movie. It is not a cheesy gore fest like a lot of movies out there. It uses the unknown and unseen which is often much more frightening. There are a lot of scenes where can only hear what is happening but that creates even more tension. You are along for the ride like the characters in the movie. They don't always see what is happening and you are left to wonder about the horrors of the unknown. Most of the characters are likable and you can feel sympathy for their plight. They don't fight and bicker constantly but spend most of their time trying to figure things out and survive. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and think anyone who prefers good writing to gore will also enjoy it.
Wilderness Survival for Girls (2004)
This movie is not for everyone
If you, like me, don't like movies where the characters make every stupid decision you can think of... this movie is not for you.
The drama is built on the young girls extremely stupid and completely unrealistic decision.
If you want to watch a great thriller about women in a cabin in the woods, watch the Descent.
The acting in the movie is actually pretty good. The same for the dialog. It's just that all of their problems could have easily been avoided with just the slightest use of common sense. Instead of tense moments, they are frustrating.
The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
Plot was never the strong point in the first and it doesn't exist in the second
Suspending Disbelief.
That's what we are supposed to do. OK, I had a really hard time swallowing the fact that people were being used as batteries....as though we produced energy.... Only problem with that, is we consume energy. Couldn't they have said they were forcing portions of our brain to do their computing and freeing us from the Matrix would allow us to be free...nope.
The Agent also pointed out that making life suck was not the goal of the Matrix. They lost entires fields of humans when they tried to make the world of the Matrix a nice place to live. Why again are we trying to defeat the Matrix??? The Matrix is like a huge daycare offering free food and living space. And really, would you rather live in Zion and eat....well nothing I guess. Zion was so crowded there is no daylight to grow vegitation, no animals...
I guess what I am getting at is simply.. There is no reason for this movie to exist other than to have a hell of a lot of cool fight scenes. If you want a good action movie with an interesting story play Max Payne. Better character development too.
