Minority Report (2015)
Much potential, much greater disappointment
Another low budget, B actors, let down. What really did the series in was the awful writing. A good script can make up for many shortcomings. This had worse writing then a Harveys Weinstein denial letter.
Where to start...
Casting: obviously Tom Cruise did not return for the series. There are NO draws (well known actors who attract viewers). That alone tells you the budget is too low to produce anything decent.
Just in case your still watching the show hoping it gets better after episode 1, i got bad news. It doesn't. In fact it never improves and ultimately the producers killed the series after just 10 episodes. Save your free time for a better series like Reacher or Made for love or The Expanse.
Star Cops (1987)
Very slow, very dull, and easily skippable
The premise is great. But the scripts were slow and the budget was insufficient to execute the concept.
Short Review: Very slow paced. This show is ALL TALK.
Imagine if the entire episode of Star trek took place in Picard's ready room. What's worse is the poor post editing. Scenes are too long. Nothing is cut. So much drawl.
Lack of chemistry. The entire series and i mean EVERY episode has all the "cops" spending more time arguing at each other than actually working. So much bickering. Its like kids in a school playground except set in space - although they quickly move to a base on the moon to enjoy gravity and reduce the strain on the actor's having to pretend to be in zeroG.
This could be a drama set in a library or the back of a kitchen diner. If it wasn't for the 2 second establishing shot we'd never even know they were space cops. Or even cops.
This show isn't bad because of its age. Its bad because it never got good. Its almost like the writers spent so much time writing the crew to be so grouchy and acerbic with one another in place of an actual enemy. Such a disappointment. I had high hopes after reading the "cult fan" reviews. Nope.
You wanna fall in love with something outside of the big Star Wars / Star Trek franchises, you have better options: Firefly Serenity,
1 silver lining - this show is 99% talk so u can listen like an audiobook. Cuz Visually ur not missing anything.
Intergalactic (2021)
Trust these ratings and go watch Babylon 5 instead OR ignore my warning and waste your time leaving a bitter taste in your mout
What a cliche of garbage. I'm going to skip over the bae acting, the terrible dialogue, the poor casting choices, and eveb skip over that this is supposed to be over a century in the future but the slang insults and curses haven't changed because other reviews already covered it and the reviews were spot on.
What i have to cover is the AWFUL camera work.
Everything is so shaky I understand the technique is used to make things seem more interesting but it gets to the point where you start to get dizzy and nauseous because the camera is shaking so much. Even simple dialogue with two people sitting in the bar talking gets ridiculous as a camera circle around them like something significant discipling significant is happening. In fact the camera shakes so much and so often I find it useful and determining when it's a real acting scene or when the screen is calm and smooth which tells me it's CGI. So yeah while watching the first episode (or as much as you can get through) you can tell when they're switching between acting and CGI.
When CGI is being used The camera work is very smooth and fluid. When the screen is shaky and jumpy - you guessed it. Thats when it's real actors. Yes that's how bad it is. I wish I could say that's the worst of it but the list of fail just keeps going....
The music's bad. The audio balance of music volume under the dialogue is bad. The makeup on the characters is awful. The lighting stinks.
If somebody told me this was made as a film student's final project I'd still fail them. It's that derivative and poorly edited. Don't tell me this was low budget. This was negative budget! Like the actors paid the studio for the privilege of auditioning. So they'd have a shot at being in something cuz nobody would ever hire them.
This is beyond garbage. In fact the best thing that I can say about this film is: its Painful to watch. PAINFUL.
Why is that a good thing? Because perhaps the CIA will force enemy combatants to watch the first episode on loop. Im not joking. We already know from leaked documents that CIA torturers forced enemy combatants to listen to heavy rock and roll from a certain unnamed musical group over and over again. And that's just audio stimulation. I wouldn't put it past those torturers to up their game to include "visual" with the audio stimulation and force people to watch this drivel as a form of torture. Yes it's that bad. WORSE after a large meal. That shaking camera does a number on your stomach...
And anyone that says they liked it either is lying, trolling, or is somehow connected to the production of this "show."
