Helluva Boss: Unhappy Campers (2023)
This episode ruined the show
Season 2 of Helluva Boss has been in a steady decline in quality. I don't know if it's because Viv's drama with other artists has sullied her work or if the show pulled a Sherlock and was always bad, but either way, to the point where the decline reaches an absolute low that I don't think the series can come back from.
This episode was so bad, it's unreal how unfunny this show has become. Viv was never a good comedy writer, but Adam Neylan doesn't have a grasp on writing at all. His episodes have been some of the most mind-boggling in terms of the quality of character writing, humor and plot progression. The episode just takes Moxxie's arc from the first striker episode and slaps a new coat of hardened paint onto it. It's worse in every possible way because it wants to act like both him and Millie were in the wrong but... it's obvious that Moxxie was acting like a jackass. The lesson he learns is that he loves his wife and now we wait until this arc comes up again but this time Moxxie is in a Walmart and trying to build up the courage to buy a copy of John Wick 2 without assistance. We also finally see Blitzo's sister. It's the most underwhelming thing imaginable and the episode ends on incest. Great, awesome episode. I am done watching this show, it's plot is too convoluted.
The Nostalgia Critic: The Wall (2019)
The worst review of anything ever of all time
I have to commend Nostalgia Critic for pissing off pretty much everyone with one of the most aimless, longwinded reviews of all time. Even with recent reviewers like Kotaku and Mr. Enter, while their reviews are garbage and feature points that don't make sense, at least they're not making 40 minute long skits featuring furry-inflation bait and Corey Taylor about how Turning Red was just OK.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why he made this, why it needed to be 40 minutes, why he needed to make an album out of this review, why he had to dress like a Nazi to make fun of Twitter nerds; it just sucks. Plain and simple.
Science! (2019)
Terrible
Imagine if someone made Newgrounds shorts and put them on Syfy. That's this show, just below average Newgrounds shorts.
It's only positive is that it's a blessful 18 minutes total. Other than that I have no memory of it when I watched it a year ago and this show won't leave any cultural impact.
Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na! (2020)
One of the best anime I've ever seen.
This show lovingly basks itself in the ups and downs of creativity and how even though business interferes with art, the love of that art is what keeps the people going...
Sounds like anti-union propaganda, but it's 100x more wholesome then that.
Eiken (2003)
I like raunchiness and even I hate this.
I get that it's a sex comedy but, the innuendos never stop. And when I mean they never stop, I mean they NEVER STOP. Everyone is either covered in fluids, bouncing their badonkers like no tomorrow, or eating stuff that looks like two balls and a stick. It could've been funny, but it happens so many times it gets annoying. If the creators wanted to make porn, they should've just make porn and not waste an hour of my time with this pandering nonsense. Also apparently these are middle schoolers. That's weird even by Japan's age of consent.
Spider-Man (1994)
Truly an awesome adaptation
To get my vices out of the way, the animation is overused a considerable amount and the show can sometimes get too cheesy. The ending also could've been better. All right that's all of them. This show is fantastic.
This show is saved in its writing and sound. The score is genuinely amazing for TV animation. I love some of the CGI backgrounds. John Semper carried the whole show on his back in terms of crafting these story arcs, which are still a thrill to watch. He has a lot of amazing characterization that can still be seen in modern Spider-Man media. This show also has my favorite Venom, Jameson (in terms of characterization not acting, although Asner gets pretty close to Simmons),
and Morbius. I love how they try to make the villains as complex as possible, always bringing their morality into question and always thinking about a why.
There's a lot I could say, but I don't know how to write all my praises down. All I can do is insist that you watch this show as soon as you can.
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight (2022)
Average, but promises more
I read other reviews, and while I do think some points are exaggerated in their quality, I understand where people are coming from. Dreamworks had hyped up Jack Black being on the project a lot, portraying this show as an unofficial Kung Fu Panda 4, when in reality this was just another generic kids show based on a Dreamworks property.
Are all Netflix Dreamworks shows bad? No, their other action shows like Kipo are one of my favorites as a matter of fact, but this show does little to stand out from others in its genre. The characters aren't doing anything for me despite having good backstories. Blade, for example, has a neat backstory regarding her brother, but her personality is the by-the books hardened and stoic type. Po is a lot less endearing and more annoying, but this isn't a complete character assassination (although the way he handles his status really irks me). As always, Mr. Ping is the best character.
The animation is pretty inconsistent. If the show aired 5-10 years earlier, it would be alright, but it didn't. The lighting and set design look really good and are the highlight visually. The new character designs suck and the villains especially look dog****. The actual animation feels off. IDK if it's because it's animated on twos or somsthing, but it felt less impactful.
Overall, a pretty average show that a 7 year old might like, but nothing beyond that. They could've executed this better.
Perfect Hair Forever (2004)
I don't get it.
Am I just out of the loop or has this show genuinely not aged well? I just don't find it all that funny.
The one plus side I can give this show is that it's one of MF Doom's few roles he's played on the network and that the original pilot playing in place of Squidbillies will forever be one of the block's biggest trolls. This show in general is just one big troll and inside joke. Maybe I'm just not in on the joke.
