Gordon, Gino & Fred's Road Trip: Christmas Road Trip: Three Unwise Men (2019)
Unwise indeed!
This series with the Three Unwise amigos is at times a joy to watch! The chemistry between Gordon, Gino and Fred is great!
Sadly in this episode they use the poor camels and a donkey to get them forward in a totally useless maner, they could have walked in the same speed instead and lessen the animals burden! The poor camel mouns loudly when Ramsay tries to get on, but Ramsay either doesn´t realise it or simply doesn´t give a damn. Either way i feel sorry for the poor animals that have to carry the extra weight of these lazy guys. Gordon even recognises that he would be able to walk faster than the donkey can drag them on its cart, but still doesn´t walk to help the poor animal in the searing heat of the moroccan sun.
If they hadn´t used the animals this episode would have been somewhere around 8-9/10.
Now i cant really give the episode more than 3/10. 1 in rating for each of the Unwise men.
Kapp to Cape (2015)
Glimpts from a massive challenge.
An extreme attempt at a world record by bicycling from Nordkapp to Capetown in 100 days!
In this documentary Pakravan an Pawley put most of their fokus on reaching their bicykling goal each day, and that makes for a somewhat shallow documentary. The viewer only gets glimts of each country, its population and the problems that come with biking through them.
It would have been great to get some more graphic illustrations about of the quality of the roads, the distance traveled in every country, the major troubles of biking through the different countrys and so on.
One thing that struck me right from their start in Norway was that their planning seemed to be a bit lacking. Such misses in planing made the documentary a bit more thrilling to watch. The question i asked my self was: Will they make it if they have these problems straight away?
So, if your planing on biking a long distance. Then this documentary might show you some of the difficulties and hazards of such a journey, in such case it would be worth a watch. For me it was i nice watch while i was having my daily workout on my rowingmachine. Not great, not bad.
Other reviewers seem to dislike that there is a lot of complaining by the bikers in the documentary, but this kind of documentary about such a massive attempt at biking so long WITHOUT complaining would have been no where near reality. This kind of adventure surely would make everyone attempting a similar challenge complain and question the journey, every single day!
Stranger Things: Chapter Eight: The Mind Flayer (2017)
Mind the (logical) gaps!
This episode has some serious logical gaps.
Bobs death: Who stops after running thru a thin wooden door when chased by a demon dog that´s just killed almost everyone in the building?
Why do the gang drive to Wills home from the lab? Earlier in the series Harper has done a lot more to try to keep everyone safe, but now they drive to a house with multiple entrypoints in every direktion without decent defense tools. The proper thing would maybe have been that Harper went to the house by himself to call for backup and everyone else would have taken a car and drove of to another city. Stupid. I just can´t believe that Wills mother and police chief Harper would risk everyones life by taking them to that house.
Still, this episode is full of suspense, some very fine acting and the same nicely done feeling of the 80´s that the series has had all the way from the beginning.
Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father: Episode #1.1 (2017)
Laughs and tears
Comedy wise this episode is good! Lots of funny moments. However, these moments partly feel genuine and partly make you question if they might be scripted. Still funny though!
Where it only for how much i enjoyed the laughs i´d given this episode an 8/10!
Sadly a large part of the episode contains animals used in entertainment for humans, and that´s NOT OK! These animals are conditioned into behaving like puppets for human entertainment. We humans need to start thinking more about how we should treat animals. Let wild animals be wild and live their life with as little human intervention as possible.
Sadly, the tears of these poor used animals take the rating of this episode down to 4/10.
