The first movie in the Despicable Me series is a classic. I love how Gru-the main character-wants to steal the moon, but he needs to steal the shrink ray first, and then get money from the bank in order to build a rocket. And the part where he fails to sneak into Vector's fortress is funny with all the failed attempts as they get more painful. Gru's idea to use robots that could disguise themselves as robots and adopt the girls was clever. The part when Doctor Nefario shows the boogie robots is really funny too, especially because he was about to dance to the music when Gru turns it off. The part when Nefario returned the girls to the orphanage without even telling Gru is very sad, and I don't like the part when Gru doesn't show up to the dance recital and must save the girls after Vector kidnapped them. It's amazing that Gru somehow stole the moon "temporarily" when his rocket was complete. It's kind of shocking that Gru didn't think about the side effects and consequences of using the shrink ray. The way that Gru defeated Vector by sending him into space, but Gru got lucky by saving the girls at the last second, and having his minions at his side. I do have to wonder what happened to the shrink ray since it wasn't in either of the sequels!
