A Family Affair (2024)
Decent comedy, Classic plot starring Amazing actors
Considering the star studded cast, the movie was average, but it's a decent one. The cast chemistry was there, specially with Zac and Joey (weirdly enough they kind of look alike specially on some scenes)...The cast nailed the acting, specially with Joey, it wasn't great but they did good with what they were given.
The plot was pretty basic with the classic comedy ingredients, the scenes and script pretty good, but I loved the way how honest the characters were with Joey's character.
Anyways its a decent watch worth the time, had a good laugh, honestly enjoyable, but probably not worth a rewatch, atleast not in the next few years. Should have been great considering the boxes it checked, but something's just missing somehow to make it way better.
What to Expect When You're Expecting (2012)
Decently made comedy
Love the movie! The writers knew what to show and they did; the cast delivered and so did the jokes. It gives us few scenarios of the road to parenting, they nailed them as much as they can, though something seems missing - I just can't put my finger on it.....
Anyhow its a great drama comedy...and it's not just a movie to watch for hopeful parents but for everybody really....it might be "generic" but it actually makes it better..
The cast chemistry were good, specially with the older casts and boy was it refreshing to watch Elizabeth Banks in this role after watching her movies... the younger casts we're okay too...
P. S. I just watched it this 2024 so....
The Mist (2017)
A MIDDLING SHOW
It's an okay show and it does have great potential...
The show started good, but somehow getting to the ending wasn't giving much excitement...The show used too much of everything, tropes and mystery, that it doesn't really left much to warrant a want or need for an explanation; just enough curiosity to continue watching...The ending was good with the cliffhanger and a sort of satisfying ending to a story arc.
It did give that survival and scify show vibes, which is why I watched it in the first place..I loved how they made use of human nature, how they delved into characters' relationships, and insecurities. The way they showed how fear works on different people; it's great yet terrifying for sure. With all that, thankfully, the plot, script, and cinematography was enough to get on despite the middling acting and lack of cast chemistry.
If there was a second season or a movie just to tie things up, I'd watch it for sure...but I wouldn't be looking, demanding, or joining petitions for it.
The Tomorrow People (2013)
THE SHOW DESERVED BETTER!!
Why oh why was this canceled!!
Okay so I've only watched this now @ Jan 2024 since with all the new shows coming out, it felt like I'm seeing the same shows over and over...This show touches all the right emotions for an avid scifi fan like me and safe to say for others as well - as it doesn't dwell on complicated sciences.
Plot was great, cast chemistry are through the roof, cinematography was good, writing and editing were decent and believable.. It's got action, love story, family, colleague and friend relationship, not overly complicated plot, etc. Balanced nicely...With all that, it's got perfect recipe in attracting audiences and it knows who...So why didn't they give it a chance to continue doing so?
They should definitely make a remake or not atleast some sort of continuation somehow, just to tie up loose ends...though its nice of them to actually give us some sort of ending by finishing 1 major arc, urghh but leaving us with few ones...
It might look like just another scifi show but don't be quick to judge, one of its strengths are following just enough tropes and not everything at ones...It's somehow created by people who knew when they used enough and when not to use them; its part of its charm.
The show's got plenty of faults, but forgivable like plot holes and plenty characters, which is good and bad. It's got the same problems with other shows with many characters; but the writers somehow know how to balance or atleast alleviate the problem. They actually close most character arcs and not just make the characters fade out.
It's not the perfect show specially at the beginning but it's great, HONESTLY BETTER than most shows I've seen and definitely better than most made today despite the technological advancements on making shows. GIVE IT A GO, ITS DEFINITELY WORTH IT.
Grid (2022)
GREAT SHOW but something's MISSING somehow
It's got the potential to be the best, but what happened?
The first episode was promising and I expected it to continue doing so but went slow and stagnant for few episodes instead. I know they were up to something, and you can see they're leading up to it...but I guess they got confused on how. I mean the plot was great, acting was awesome, casts got chemistry, and editing was good; but the sequence and flow of events were not confusing which was great but they're rather bland. The timing was off somehow, specially the first few episodes, but it did pick up. But when things picked up during the last episodes, it felt rushed specially compared to the first episodes, but they could have intended for that to happen. I just wish they didn't, just so they could have accomplished a much better suspense in the end.
The dark feel and atmosphere of the show was either good or bad or both, depending on the viewer; mysterious or boring, intellectual or pretentious; but still interesting. But its still a great show despite the botched timing or presentation or division of events. I'm really looking forward for a second season.
If season 2 will happen and it really should, they could bring in more viewers if they make things better than the first season. This could really be huge.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023)
Loved the movies but this show still hit differently
I appreciate it, looking forward for the continuation..not sure I loved all of it
As a huge fan of the book series and spin-offs, specially HOO, I was really looking forward for the show.. I got some things I would've loved for the movies before to have; but the show (atleast the first 3 episodes) also lacks what the movies did have - action. I understand it was targeting the PG/G rating, but man some of the cover ups like line changes, editing, and even CGI were so obvious, tho some were cleverly done (invisibility cap part)...I'd love to see more action when they grow up and got training in the next season, i guess they'll have to be clever with angles not to show SPG scenes and clever word play.
Anyways, I understand the casting choices despite the physical differences cause I do start to see the characters I've read in them. The camp was a bit different than what I've imagined, but its fine (liked the ones in the movies better). The acting was great some were just okay, the backdrop was amazing, the cinematography was okay, and the plot/scene was nicely done.
To be honest I was afraid the 8 episode was not gonna do the books justice, but judging from the 3 episode so far, they might actually pull it off. Obviously, not all book fave scenes are gonna make it, but they did try, and the way they did it was good.
I'm still looking forward for the next episodes so that's great...I mean, even if they make it bad, I'll still watch it cause it's PERCY JACKSON. I just wish it will improve in the next seasons, if not in the next episodes.
The Family Plan (2023)
Predictable yet watchable and quite enjoyable
Another family with parent's secret identity movie but it does try to be unique. Some scenes were full of old jokes, but some are actually funny like LOL funny...
Love how the plot actually took its time with the story telling and not abruptly shifting from 1 scene to another..The cast were alright; they don't have that explosive chemistry, but its enough for the movie..
Love the cinematography, and backdrops..I appreciate the atmosphere/mood of the movie since it doesn't really get too serious on stuff, just enough to be convincing and appropriate for audiences to just enjoy.. It is a family movie despite the violence and few language.
Wholesome movie - don't watch it too seriously...just kick back, watch, and relax!
P. S. How can they say Mark was lame with his bod in the movie?! - xorry just can't get over it...and btw, the baby/kid was just amazing, best cast there for me!
Sick Girl (2023)
Well distributed= Comedic, fun, sensitive, & serious,
Equally funny, fun, sensitive, enjoyeable, and serious to watch.
Great movie. Perfect comedic timing, loved the cast (joy to watch), characters, plot, and terrific pace. I watched it for Nina Dobrev and I really thought it was a "sick girl" movie; boy was I surprised - delightedly so.
I think it was actually well written as not to offend anybody. I especially loved the comedic timing of the cast and I actually laughed hard and loud on most jokes; it actually deserves to be in the comedy genre. The pace & transition of the story was perfect. Ending was properly done with appropriate realistic touch. The lessons/morals of the movie are there, albeit the motifs to almost every movie out there. I would totally rewatch this and will highly recommend this to people.
Mortal Engines (2018)
Where's the sequel?!
Rewatched it again after a while, and again BEGGING FOR A SEQUEL
Tho the story was nicely wrapped at the end, it got me curious as to how the people will hit it off and live harmoniously together.
Loved the post apocalyptic idea, plot, characters, cast, backdrop, editing, and how the backstories were done. I havent read the book so I wouldnt know if this did the book justice, I hope it did.
The world building was actually nice, they could have delved into it a bit more if this was a show, but what they did for the movie was enough to undertand.
For the characters, I didn't get to have a favorite, which is neither a good or a bad thing. They're all okay, tho I guess I would have liked for the secondary characters to have more screentime/story cause theyre kind of close to a favorite. If there was a sequel, I hope to see them more.
SEQUELLL.
Fantasy Island (2020)
What? WHY?
The first half of the movie was amazing, I was rooting for the characters and stuff as you should, speculating the twists, as one should...But when twists started coming, I was okay, but then it didn't stop.
I guess the plot was amazingly simple which was enough, until someone wanted to add more and more at the ending just to add "complexity". It could've been amazing, and it was for sometime. I saw the "twist" coming the moment they "showed" it, and boy am I glad they put more to it, sadly, they exaggerated it way too much for my taste.
What I love about the movie: the cast, characters, initial plot, and location.
Watched it because of Lucy Hale and the title was intriguing. I'm glad I saw it, I'm a bit disappointed tho, but I can see where they wanted the film to go; I just don't agree to how they did it.
All in all - WATCHED IT, LIKED IT, BUT PROBABLY WOULDN'T REWATCH IT; Loved the premise of what if tho.
Los Billis (2023)
You gotta love the dancing!!
Personally, I don't know the history in which the show was inspired by but this makes me want to know more
Loved the cast, the story, the OOTDs, the backdrop, the music, and the dancing...I actually was surprised to see "cool" guys in movies dancing around the way they do...completely opposite to the "cool" guys in modern based movies or in real life nowadays really.
Learned and started watching this for Francisca Estevez but end up finishing it for it.
Every start of the episode does show a warning for its contents soyou'll have idea for what your signing up for. Contents include drugs, alcohol, violence, etc.; with all that, I have to say, those doesn't really overshadow everything.
Modern Family (2009)
REWATCHEABLE FROM START TO FINISH
Bored? Stressed? Sad? Happy? Angry? Want to watch something short? Long? Wanna laugh? Wanna cry? Wanna watch alone? With anybody? MODERN FAMILY is the answer!
TBH, it's one of the most flexible show I know, and I've seen a lot. I didn't get to grow up watching it, but boy do I wish I did. It's for everyone, and I mean every age, gender, and status.
So its centered on a family - their lives over the years. Unlike other shows, throughout the show, changes and character growth are made though subtle just like in real life really.
Cast chemistry is through the roof, storylines are amazing, most characters are relatable, jokes (physical and verbal) are hysterical, and drama and comedic timings are perfect.
I'm conflicted with being really sad that it ended and happy that I get to see it. I really hope they make spin offs or any sort of continuations really.
It's the tv show I'd love my kids to grow up on. I'm confident to say that every episode and every season is rewatcheable.
Foe (2023)
WAIT WHAT?!
Definitely one of my wait what happend movies. I kind of knew from the begining what was going on since the clues were there; but it still manages to bring some surprise. Plus, despite being a thinker movie, its not too complicated nor too boring.
Can't complain about the cast chemistry, loved the set, and definitely loved how the story was focused - not too much segway or overexplaining.
Btw, watched it cause I wanna watch a Saoirse Ronan movie and boy does she never disappoint. Loved it!
Why a "wait what"? Cause even though you get what's going on, you still question it and rethink what happend - something I look forward to in movies. It's one of those movies that doesn't leave your mind the moment its done.
RECOMMENDED for people seeking a SOFT SCIFY movie.
