Voorhees (2020)
Jason Is Back!
This is a good ol' fashioned 80s-style F13 movie, complete with a badass Jason! I liked it better than the Never Hike In The Woods series.
It's not without faults, though. Namely, three:
1) The Jason outfit is pretty unconvincing. Especially his hands and back. I felt like if the camera moved an inch in the wrong direction, I was gonna see the costume's zipper.
2) The lead actress is gorgeous, and talented, but many times she looked like she was about to start laughing. No biggie. She probably needs to work on her facial expressions. She'll get better.
3) The plot is virtually the same as Night Of The Demons 3. But whatever. No big deal. Most movies of this sort are never very original, anyway.
My final answer: watch this movie! You'll have a great time! And to the cast and crew - nice job!
Friday the 13th Part X: To Hell and Back (1995)
So Impressive!
In 1995, a few high school kids grabbed a camcorder, and made their own Friday The 13th film. And they did a helluva good job. Honestly, I didn't expect to make it 10 minutes into this before turning it off. Just the opposite happened. I became enthralled in the film. This is top-notch fan-filmmaking. It's not perfect, but it's damn good. Really good. After it was over, I felt like I had watched an actual F13 film, and not just a fan film.
You know the short films that Sam Raimi made as teen with Bruce Campbell and his friends? I've seen most of those short films, and this is on the same level, and probably even better.
Seriously, if you have time, check it out! This is very impressive for a bunch of teenagers screwing around with a camcorder in 1995. I'll tell you this - it's a helluva lot better than the professionally-made Part 8!
