I happened to be in Acapulco visiting my family when I saw this mini-series. I found it to be gripping and hard to miss. I began to organise my days in order to return for the afternoon showing. Basically, the story revolves around a rich girl who is engaged to somebody else, but falls in love with a gypsy. In order to take him away from his sweetheart, the family of his rival arrange for him to be sent to an island prison. He has to escape and regain the love he has lost. I will leave it up to you to decide whether he manages to do this. All in all a wonderful series which has colour, action, adventure, love, and intrigue, a winner!

I remember watching this program back in Christmas of 1974. It was a rather creepy tale about the guardian of hidden treasure returning to claim its own. The guardian came from an old well, and left a trail of slime as it tried to find a way in to reclaim the treasure. It is an atmospheric and disturbing tale, but may be a slight disappointment to anyone who has read the original short story.

This film is a reminder of the early days of glam rock. There are good performances by Barry Humphries (better known now as Dame Edna Everidge), and Terry Thomas as rival nightclub owners. Terry Thomas is the traditionalist, who prefers the 'old style' and is totally against these new fangled Glam Rock acts. He sets about spoiling things in his usual caddish manner. Barry Humphries sets off to London in order to sign up some quality acts. It is interesting to see cameo acts by stars of the era such as Fox, and Stephanie de Sykes. All in all a little weak and dated now, but an enjoyable trip down memory lane.
