Dexter: Remember the Monsters? (2013)
Proper Ending
The series ends with Dexter, alone, fated to be who and what he is. Harry was noticeably absent.
Lost in Space: Trip Through the Robot (1967)
The genius of Jonathan Harris
Jonathan Harris was an icon and American treasure. His acting on LIS is a feat never to be duplicated. Once again, he was the villain we loved. Trip through the Robot revealed his kinder side. When the robot 'died', Will was very distressed. Dr. Smith, observing this, physically tried to revive the robot. When he failed, he consoled Will, placing his hand on his shoulder, telling him he was sorry. Additionally, he went along with Will's plan to ultimately revive and restore the robot. Dr. Smith, despite his faults, cared for the kids. When he thought Penny had turned to platinum, he cried, blaming himself and willing to sacrifice himself for her recovery. In another episode, he made it back to earth prior to the original launch. When he learned the Robinsons would be destroyed without his presence on the ship, he allowed himself to be trapped on board all over again. May Mr. Harris forever rest in peace...
Leave It to Beaver: Beaver's Short Pants (1957)
A father's love
We always thought Ward was uptight. This is my favorite episode. Ward side steps the old lady and puts beaver in normal clothes. Beaver kisses his father before he goes off to school. I can only hope jerry mathers I looks back on this episode with fondness. A son kissing a father was not the norm on television back then when in reality most sons kissed their fathers especially in the Mediterranean cultures. Though a hokey show, it would hit the mark occasionally with a good human interest story. May Ward and June rest in peace along with Fred, lumpy, And whitey.... Show was on at a time when the public was a little more innocent.
Alien (1979)
Alien Escape
Tactically there were several things the crew cold have done. The ship was able to detach from the freighter portion of the Nostromo. Once they realized the alien was in the freighter portion, they could have escaped in the ship. They went looking for the alien. The smarter thing would have been to huddle together and let the alien find them. They could have donned space suits, tied themselves down, and opened an airlock when the alien showed up. Technology existed to make an android as sophisticated as Ash yet there was no such thing as internal sensors or scanners aboard the ship? The idea of an alien cocooning a victim was to create more aliens. This alien was wasting its time. It cocooned Brett and Dallas (see the directors cut) but no other eggs existed with face suckers. They would have starved to death. Finally, I would have hid in the computer room where they accessed the mother computer with flame thrower in hand. There was only one way in or out and if the alien appeared, you could have fried it.
Godzilla, King of the Monsters! (1956)
Godzilla
it is a good movie by standards in those days. The funniest parts of the movie were listening to the dubbed Japanese voices referring to Raymond Burr as Steve Martin. Burr should have appeared in a King Tut outfit. There were also parts where you could see the creases in the Godzilla costume, the fabric around the actor was not as tight as it could have been. I'm sure ex-WWII veterans in the 1950s saw this movie as payback for pearl harbor, the Japanese scrambling like ants trying to get away from Godzilla. Steve Martin was traveling to Egypt and stopped off in Japan to visit a friend? Why on earth would anyone travel to Egypt via the pacific?
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea: The Ghost of Moby Dick (1964)
Crazy man
This Bryce guy is the leading authority on marine life? And he wants to kill it? Secondly, you know a show is in trouble when the lead actor, Nelson, agrees to a script from one of the greatest movies ever made. If the wife is so determined to stop him, why doesn't she tip off Nelson? Wife is a sign of the times. She knows her husband is wrong buts stays submissive. She even takes a shot upside the head. Scene in the show depicting the slaughter of a whale.....Libs want this scene deleted from the show. The year is 1964. Given the world situation, the navy has nothing better to do than send its most advanced sub to chase a whale? Irwin Allen, to be fair, did give us some memorable show. Lost in Space is still my favorite. In 2013, Ms. June Lockhart retains her beauty.
