Untold: Caitlyn Jenner (2021)
Ignore the low rating, trolls are on here
Super doc, insightful, didn't know much about her but really enjoyed hearing about her mindset during the Olympics. Dive in.
The Green Knight (2021)
Critics love it. Audiences people will be bored
Slow, so slow. A riddle. Is it real, or a dream. Lots of symbolism. Based on a poem so bound to be. Slow. Not much action. Atmosphere good. Acting superb. Sets and costumes perfect, as is the music. Just be in the mood for it.
Million Dollar Beach House (2020)
Clueless bunch in over their heads
Watching these kids walk clients around mansions while not being able to ask simple questions about the art, furniture or installations, yet hoping they can wing it and earn $$$ commission, it's tragic. A depressing show.
First Reformed (2017)
The God Squad won't like it
Dark, brooding, atmospheric and grim at times, serves up all the issues around the modern church that its congregation, many of whom have written bad reviews refuse to see, particularly its hypocrisy and involvement with unethical corporations. The climate crisis is also a story thread, again something Christians peddle as a myth. Hawke is fantastic as are they rest of the cast
Castle Rock: The Queen (2018)
A skipable episode, complete chaos
Show is a slow burn up till this point, then this episode comes in, a filler episode made up of memories. Unnecessary but nice to look at, v confusing at times
ReMastered: Tricky Dick and the Man in Black (2018)
What is Truth? Rearranging events to tell it's version of events.
Footage used in the show wasn't actually as it happened, the performance isn't the one Nixon saw, and witness accounts are fuzzy. Warm story but have to ask what is truth?
ReMastered: The Two Killings of Sam Cooke (2019)
Very misleading title, this is a bio doc that speculates on conspiracies.
I was disappointed. Tells how great Sam Cooke was (he was), and how it must have been the government that killed him, but even that isn't explored. This is his life story and a very short and shallow telling of it at that.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)
I'm sorry, but this is poor...
Just seen this film an hour ago, and it was a complete waste of time. It makes AvP look like a good idea. The plot leaps from one scenario to another, the character's are awful, and there's nothing remotely scary about it. The first film was just above average, though it created considerable suspense with the malevolent hive being an entity in itself and the discomfort of impending zombie attacks around every corner. This film has none of that, and is desperate to rigidly follow a computer game plot, which usually works, doesn't it? No, actually, it doesn't. Boring, seen-it-all-before action and lame acting are major problems, and the fact that Anderson was involved in the script is no surprise. It's the worst part, and feels like the uninventive dialogue was put in simply to break awkward silences between the unengaging characters.
