Deception (2021)

Is this the novel Claire Bloom mentions in her autobiography?
26 May 2022
I was curious, because years ago Bloom mentioned when she read the novel she coudnt believe how selfish his husband was. She had to read about his infedelities. She didnt paint Roth very nicely. And the main character of the novel resembles him very closely. A great writer, but a self centered man? I dont know. I have yet to look for more information. I loved, though, the work of Seydoux, Podalydes and Devos. So natural.- The scenes between Podalydes and Seydoux show they are very talented.

Well filmed but with lousy acting
16 February 2021
I have to admit when I saw in the trailer that the "leading actress" was a model vaguely known in Argentina, i was amused. I knew what I was going to watch. Of course very good actors like Noemi Frenkel and Jorge Suarez, actors that hev years of plays and cinema behind their backs, were there to backup this lousy script, and worst acting. Oriana Sabatini is no actress. Just a commercial move. And yes, it looks like a soap opera. I'm argentinean and its a shame not having hired two good actors for the leading roles, in our country theres so many. Trained actors and not just pretty faces. Shame.

Another tale of a woman's revenge, but in 2020. Who says technology doesn't help?
16 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What a shocking, great tale of vengeance this movie was. And theres have been so many. I can remember now Isabelle Adjani in the eighties, Raquel Welch in that western in the sixties, and many, many more. I have to admit, at the beginning I thought this was another intent of telling the story of a young woman trying to get revenge for her friend. Badly told. It looked like a 90s movie, full of clichés, at the beginning. But no. Halfway through the movie I had to admit Carey Mullingan's acting got my total admiration. The black humour and the movie soundtrack just made it better still. In the 80s or 90's, this story in real life would have been buried safely in the past of the offenders. But now, at the light of the events of the meetoo movement and women's rights, it has a new, bright light. Not everything can be buried easily these days. Not even Cassie's body. From the creators of Killing Eve, a great tale of revenge. Another one. For this generation, this time. :)

A complete bore of 75 minutes
10 November 2020
After reading the other reviews and seeing they were very much alike, anyway I gave it a try. My patience lasted 30 minutes. Inconsistent, vague. don't waste your time.

Hopelessbly boring

Argentinean thriller based loosely on the books of Florencia Etcheves. What many people doesnt know is that the crime case of the two friends, is a true case and much more interesting than the movie version. The plot wasnt bad: the actors were awful. I presume they hired Luisana Lopilato (a former model and very bad actress) who is not credible in the role of the tough new detective (she can barely talk like an actor), and the other actors are equally bad. Joaquin Furriel, a great theater and movie actor, has the weight of the world on his shoulders and cannot save the film. So many argentineants talents here and the chose the worst actors I've seen in a long time. Don't waste 2 hours. "Wild tales" is much better.
