Be sure to read the description because for TV shows I have listed what season it is. And for some movies I've written what edition it is or packaging it came in.

- The top of the list is the bottom of my stack, the bottom is the best of the best, in my eyes.
- A lot of the time this list can get mixed around as I watch new films, or rewatch old ones, I'll try to keep this updated every few months or so. Also know that a lot of these (with the exception of the top 10 or so) could easily slide forward or backward a few spaces, it's just how I feel at the time. There are also lots that I would have loved to put/keep on the list, but 100 spaces is surprisingly little when you're ranking great films.
- Documentaries are not counted, this is strictly about narrative film-making.
- Films under 60 minutes also don't count, I would consider those short films. Most films on this list are way more than 60 minutes anyway, though.
- I can only have my favorite film selected from a series or franchise, just know that there are likely some others I would have loved to include and that the one stands in for them all.
- I have not seen every movie, and I can only include what I've seen, though I have seen a lot, over 1,500. If you would like more clarity on what I have and haven't seen, please feel free to browse this: http://www.imdb.1eye.us/list/ls008021090/
Reviews
Malignant (2021)
One of the worst horror movies I've ever seen.
Exactly what the title says. I saw this a while ago and was so disappointed; my whole theater was laughing at it. I gave it 1 star to help outweigh all the fake 9s and 10s, I would actually give it about a 3 for effort.
Doctor Sleep (2019)
Not bad.
Actually really damn good. Mike Flanagan is a master and he works wonders in the foreboding shadow of The Shining.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Literally epic, in every sense.
It is awe-inspiring, soul-crushing and ever-surprising. I seriously don't think they could've crafted a finer conclusion.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
First review in a long time...
This show is about loss, regret, grief, and our relationships with other people - both living and dead. It is a show that will scare your pants off and then turn around and make you weep. It is probably the deepest and greatest piece of horror fiction in the 21st century; I watched all episodes within 24 hours.
The acting is terrific, cinematography and directing are en pointe, music is very suiting, production design in the house is amazing, and the writing is devastatingly beautiful.
Seek this one out.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Great after-party!
The film was an amazing follow-up to not only The Avengers but all the films in-between, and introduces several new characters so well! Definitely one of the best action/superhero movies in a while. Writer and director Joss Whedon only impresses in this sequel. My only downside is that there is only one very short mid-credits scene and no after-credits one. Like I said though, very good!
Of course I won't give even the little things away, this should be experienced with as little fore-knowledge as possible, like most films, but believe me, you will regret it if you know some of the twists in here, they're great to experience in the theatre.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)
Much more LotR-esque!
MILD SPOILERS! For me there were three issues with An Unexpected Journey, first, the uneven pacing, second, the silly tone, and third, bloodless swords and weapons (which for whatever reason just irritates me in many a fantasy movies, but hey, Lord of the Rings had bloody weapons). As far as I'm concerned, all was fixed in The Desolation of Smaug, except maybe the latter even though the violence is really ramped up here. After seeing it last night I've come up with two things that I really disliked, though one is minor; first, there are some terrible GoPro POV style shots in the water with the barrels, and second, Azog and now Bolg, are simply pitiful villains. But really, this was so much better than the first and more akin to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which I adore.
My favorite scenes were all the stuff with Gandalf in Dul Guldur, just badass, and also Smaug and Bilbo, very tense actually, I thought. Oh also, the scene where a baby spider gets close to the ring and Bilbo goes crazy on it, good stuff. Beorn was pretty cool too, and I wish we spent a bit more time with him. A lot more character development with the dwarfs (and others) happens here too, I still wish Bofur would speak in Dwarvish though! Another plus, multiple stories/perspectives! I think that's something that was also probably sorely missing in An Unexpected Journey. So yes, the dwarfs get split up, there's Tauriel and Legolas, Bard, Gandalf, and Bilbo separated with Smaug for a time. It made things all the more grand. Last bit, this is much darker too. More violence, darker themes, and even a literal darker colour palette, which I really prefer, as stated.
The Fellowship of the Ring: 9.0 The Two Towers: 8.9 The Return of the King: 9.5 An Unexpected Journey: 8.3 The Desolation of Smaug: 9.2
A very solid second entry, I and many others are eagerly awaiting There and Back Again! Hopefully it is as great!
