Family Guy: Stand by Meg (2018)
Excellent music in this one. And I nearly cried laughing
The music I have to say was really good in this episode. I kept rewatching the grape song and Meg's musical....performances. And I was laughing the whole time. Really enjoyed this one
Freaks (2018)
Who keeps giving this 9 or 10/10?
I was curious at first when I started watching this, wondering where it was all going. But the whole time, every person in the movie did things that didn't really make sense. The main characters keep doing these...strange things, and the normal people keep doing...strange things. Get in a strange ice cream truck? Sure! Go to the park with some strange man? Why not! Let some weird kid come play with you? Uh, okay I guess?
No one in this movie seems to act like a person. It's like they created an alternate universe where everyone just acts...not right. I just don't get it.
I turned it off about halfway through, and I still didn't see where the plot was going.
Uncut Gems (2019)
Strange, cringeworthy, but at times intense
Sandler is decent in this, but right from the beginning, you go from a crazy universe of lights seen within a gem to a guy's colonoscopy. A live colonoscopy. For a few minutes. I was genuinely uncomfortable. I don't get it? What a strange directing choice.
Then you see the main character do a whole lot of shady stuff, over and over and over. He's just a complete dick to everyone, no redeeming qualities, so you don't really care what happens to him. Then it sort of just ends.
This is just the story of an a-hole jewelry shop owner who is an a-hole from beginning to end. I don't know why this has an 8 rating???
The Flash (2014)
Incredibly lazy and stupid 'monster of the week' show
At first I thought this was a fun show, a turn your mind off fun distraction. But each episode got worse and worse, with more and more ridiculous plots. Many other reviewers have already mentioned how dumb the 'conflict' is. 90% of the time he should be able to just go really fast, grab the guy/his weapon, done. Instead, he gets into fist fights, or does some elaborate something or other and saves the day.
I gave it another try the other day, and within a few minutes I heard someone say 'I have to hack the mainframe', got into this 'mainframe' within seconds and deactivated some thing or whatever. God I hate that crap.
It's just another setup for the 'monster of the week' formula that I have grown so incredibly tired of. Want to watch intelligent science fiction that isn't incredibly stupid? Try Mr. Robot.
Star Trek: Voyager: Extreme Risk (1998)
Great emotional episode
Like others I don't know why this episode gets such bad reviews. I think it's a unique take on how depression can affect people and it's well acted by everyone. Instead, it gets a score that's almost as bad as Once Upon a Time. It's really quite good and one of the more memorable episodes in my opinion. The only bad point is the plot device techno-babble B'Elanna uses with the phaser to save everyone at the last moment.
Supernatural: The Song Remains the Same (2010)
Pointless and frustrating
This season is pretty great so far. But this episode was so pointless and pathetic. Angels have been sent on a time travelling mission to kill people in the past. They have the power to time travel and destroy demons with a single touch. And what is their amazing plan to kill these people with all of this power? Throw them across the room, like seventeen times, talk a lot and walk really, really slowly towards the people they're sent to kill. This of course gives Sam and Dean tons of time to do stuff to stop the angels. Also, you can pretty much guess that nothing is going to change, or else the whole season would be thrown out, so all of the 'plot' is boring and predictable. This is just bad writing, plain and simple, used as filler. Why this episode got such great ratings is just baffling to me.
