Barnaby Jones: School of Terror (1979)
Future stars in this episode.
As was previously mentioned in another review, this episode had an array of guest stars who would become pretty big stars thru the 80s till even currently. One passed away this year.
I rate it an 8 just for the guest stars on an otherwise average Barnaby episode
Fright Night (2011)
Ok remake with casting issues
The movie was entertaining but Lacked that special something the original had. Maybe it was the 80's aura and/or those specific actors.
No one can replace the Great Roddy Mcdowell but for me that particular role (Peter Vincent) was the big negative in this remake.
This one he's sad sack magician the kids try to convince. In The Original at least he was a TV vampire chaser.
Every time he was on the screen the movie went several notches down for me.
This one was less fun And jokey than the original but that's ok.
Remakes that try to be the exact same as the originals usually come off worse
21 Bridges (2019)
Decent and entertaining
Average plot but the acting is above par so it keeps you engaged.
Saw this in the theater and had no idea Chadwick Was ill. Watching it again it is noticeable.
Watched a video of an actor who worked with him in one of his last films and he said Chadwick came to work with what seemed like an entourage, as if success had gone to his head.
Since he told no one his health issues it Turns out These people were caretakers assisting him in keeping him comfortable, medicating and monitoring him between take.
The actor didn't realize this till he passed and felt terrible. Was crying and regretting everything.
With each movie Boseman did you could tell he was going to be great. His screen presence was awesome.
We lost a good one
Face/Off (1997)
Travolta and Cage = 90's Epic Flick
The 90's were huge for these actors. Up to this point Travolta had Look who's talking, Pulp fiction, Get shorty, Cage had Leaving Las Vegas, The Rock, Con Air to name a few.
To have them come together in this movie was huge at the time. Like a must see event.
This was blockbuster entertainment at it's highest form. Over the top, crazy, corny, unbelievable, get your popcorn ready type of stuff. You could tell the actors had fun making this.
Roger Ebert even enjoyed it and I usually agreed with his reviews. If he liked a movie there was 95% chance I'd enjoy it.
This was one of those movies I could watch multiple times, Even now, and stay engaged.
Thumbs up as Siskel and Ebert use to say.
The Karate Kid (2010)
Nevermind the haters
This was a good family movie. Imo as good and maybe even better than the original and I was 19 when the original came out.
Those who dislike the new one are probably 80's kids or have something against the Smith family or just nit picking about the use of the word Karate.
This is a very entertaining Film.

The Karate Kid (1984)
Cool for nostalgia but still average
I was 19 when this came out. Wasn't that impressed then and 36 yrs later like it even less. The actors were good. Love the 80's nostalgia, especially seeing the old Norwalk miniature golf/arcade. Who doesn't like a storyline of the bullied kid getting revenge.
At the time I felt this movie was more for kids 16 and under. Still do.
Imo the new Karate Kid is better and faster paced. The fight scenes are superior to the original. Took my kids to see it. They loved it. Had them watch this on cable to compare. They fell asleep.
Guess you had to be around during the 80's to appreciate it.
