Nói albinói (2003)
perfection
this is a film about Noi, living in a very small and cold village on iceland. everywhere you go there's just snow and ice and mountains, Noi lives with his grandmother because his father is an alcoholic. then Noi meets a girl, who he falls in love with. together they dream about escaping to hawaii.
thou the film has a very tragic ending, and that it is so full of snow and ice, it left me with a warm heart, because it was so realistic and beautiful. the way everything in the village is just comlete misery and how Noi's father claims that he's drinking loads of gin because his teeth aches just feels like the true icelandic white trash culture. i don't know if such culture exists on iceland (i've never been there) but if it do, this is the right way to describe it.
maybe it's because i'm swedish that i can (sort of) relate to this movie, i know how cold the winters can be here and i know how small villages like the one Noi is living in can be a really tragic experience to visit. (the town is so small that you can't even rob the bank because the staff will recognize you). this is definetly a top ten movie, so rare and simply beautiful that i just want to see it over and over again. i can't wait 'til it's on vhs in sweden.
Fantasia (1940)
psychosis?
I saw this movie today and actually, I liked it. Most i liked the first part, it didn't really have an actual plot, it was more like colours created by the music. It suprised me how much each tone was shown as aline, a bubble, a wave ore something else. even I, who am not especially musically tellented, could see how good the film represented the music.
I more disliked the part with the greek mythology kind of story, and also the part with the evoulution. it felt kind of far-fetched.
S.P.U.N.G (2002)
One of my favourite shows
Spung and spung 2.0 is probably one of the best TV shows i've ever seen. It's realistic, filmed with a hand camera. The plot is as follows: five teenagers, very good friends who (in spung) plans to go to america together, but they never actually do it. In spung 2.0 we meet the friends one year later when they have different jobs, studies etc. The all get together again, and they're partying, arguing, loving like all other teenagers.
This is a lovely tv show. I just either love or hate the characters, but at least they make you feel something. Especially kim is a really funny characters, played by the brilliant actor daniel larsson. The thing is that you never really think about that the characters are actually ACTING, it feels like it's some kind of reality show.
I really recomend this show to anyone who likes kidn of different high school movie, like ghost world. It is really brilliant.
Saraband (2003)
should have been set on stage instead
I saw that Bergman was making his last film, and immideatly I felt I had to see it. I am no fan of Bergman, in fact I've only seen Tystnaden and scener ur ett äktenskap, but I enjoyed them.
But, to be honest, saraband was a real disapointment. The acting would maybe fit on a big stage (where for example the brilliant Julia Difvenius is more used to be), but in this TV form, it just feels like too much, no natural feeling as a tv production always must have.
One example of why this film really shouldn't have been made is that the scens who are set in the forest are actually made in a studio. It gives no reality feeling at all. I mean, if bergman is so old that he can't even go out in the forest to direct his actors, maybe he shouldn't be doing movies anymore.
Saraband is not a fair farewell to bergman, since I know he can do a lot better than this. it feels like he got to do this film only because he's ingmar bergman and not because it's a good movie, and that's pretty sad, isn't it?
15: The Movie (2003)
beautiful
This is one of my favourite movies. Can't wait 'til I can buy it. It is a chockingly beautiful movie, the colours and the camera angles and everything is perfect. It is so close, everytime the actors cut their wrists or try to press down a condom full of pills in their throat, it feels like they're doing it to me.
Even the violence is beautiful. I don't mean kill bill-violence, but in some way the director makes everything seem so realistic but at the same time extraordinary. I don't know how else to describe it.
This is true beauty. See it!
