Amazing storytelling
23 January 2016
A story of a five-year-old boy and his mother escaped from their little world and found new discoveries.

I can't talk more because I might spoil it.

This is an inspiring and empowering movie. Gives you an impression of innocence. It has the ability to make you cry, laugh and be thrilled. Combine this with the great and artistic cinematography. The story line has smooth transition and was executed perfectly. The plot and character development jives together which makes this a more watchable movie than any other non-animated-character-driven movie.

As an audience, I don't have a problem with this movie.

This is one of the best movies of 2015. You must watch it.

Trumbo (2015)

Smart and empowering writing
23 January 2016
Dalton Trumbo was Hollywood's top screenwriter until he and other artists were exiled and blacklisted for being in the Communist party.

The movie's writing is smart, beautifully made (which will make the movie very ironic if it was not). I really felt Trumbo, and he got my sympathy throughout the movie. Great acting of Bryan Cranston. I liked the movie tho I saw some flaw.

This is an character packed movie at the same time a biography drama. The supporting characters are not meant to be focused on but they need proper exposure, that's what this movie failed to execute. In the end, I didn't know and I didn't care about the other characters.

That was my only problem.

Still a great movie.

Re-absurdity of the classic Filipino comedy films
19 January 2016
Emman, a policeman, needs his former best friend, Erika, to be an asset to a mission.

Craziness is all I have to say. I laughed as much as I expected. I liked the way they're breaking the fourth wall, you know if you watch classic Filipino films like Rene Requiestas introducing the director in the middle of the movie. The chemistry between Coco Martin and Vice Ganda is absolutely effective. The fighting scenes in this movie are better than some other serious Action Drama films. It gives justice to the action genre through the production design and choreography.

It was satisfying to watch it with laughs but there are some obviously unsettling moods. The supporting love story, JaDine, is out of place.

Another problem was the movie trying not to be awkward on drama scenes. It made the audience not care about that character.

A new flavor for a Wenn Deramas movie. I must say this is a worth watching two-hour comedy film.

Watch Kalyeserye instead
19 January 2016
The romantic-comedy film starring Vic Sotto, Ai Ai delas Alas, Alden Richards and introducing, Maine Mendoza. Vito, a strict single father, protects his daughter Ana in having a communication with Dondi, the nephew of Cora, Vito's business rival.

I am a fan of Kalyeserye and AlDub. Like Kalyeserye, this movie gave me laughs. Like Kalyeserye, this movie truly involves Filipino culture. Like Kalyeserye, actors were good and fine. Notice something? Yes, it was a Kalyeserye rip off, in my opinion. It had a lot of problems throughout the movie. The storyline was very weak, many scenes were irrelevant and it also consists of a predefined plot. The obvious and loads of product placements that made the movie a movie made from commercials. The cheesy and lousy script.

Well, a very disappointing movie.

Plain plot, an underdog story
16 January 2016
Joy is a story about a mother/sister/daughter/granddaughter/an ex- wife's struggles of her life in inventing a mop.

Pretty much the plot.

This movie consists of very great actors. Jennifer Lawrence's performance is outstanding, as usual. For a plainly written movie, it was well-paced. Powerful messages throughout the story were executed properly. One problem was the characters, other than Joy, lack exposure and relevance. I didn't care about them, except Joy. Another problem was, there was no concrete relationship which leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

Although it was a very inspiring underdog story, it is still a good movie.

More bathtub scenes for enlightenment
15 January 2016
(Plot Synopsis FROM IMDb) Four denizens of the world of high-finance predict the credit and housing bubble collapse of the mid-2000s, and decide to take on the big banks for their greed and lack of foresight.

As the topic is serious as hell but for me, less entertaining, the documentary-type movie is full of exceptional actors. I liked the approach of random celebrities explaining the banking jargons. With that, I was enlightened a little bit. Honestly, I still don't understand some of what happened in this movie. I guess, I am too young for this or I am not in the perfect place for the setting and theme of the movie. That is my only problem in the movie, I just need more Margot Robbie to explain the movie for me.

I, honestly, didn't enjoy the movie.

Thrilled with so many events
11 January 2016
Set during the Cold War, James Donovan, an American Lawyer was recruited to defend a Soviet spy and then help the CIA facilitate a trade between the Soviet spy and American spy.

First of all, the mood of this movie is amazing because you can really feel the dark atmosphere and the tension of the Cold War. Production design is good. Of course, the acting. This is Tom Hanks. What do you expect? An outstanding performance. Great direction of Steven Spielberg. The story line and plot are perfectly executed. Still left with mystery, though.

One of the best movies of 2015.

Must watch.

Clichéd but a game changer
9 January 2016
A Filipino-American man hires a translator to help him translate his letter to the woman who broke his heart.

Character development is very good. The script is fine for this type of movie. Great acting for both protagonists and some supporting actors. The story is clichéd and it was unavoidable since most of the movies in the Philippines is a 'kilig' movie.

This movie is a 'game changer' in a sense that common Filipino rom- com movies have a formula, simply put: "Introduction of Boy, introduction of girl, both have problems, they fell in love for a single reason, montage of them falling in love." See? This makes the characters' introduction a filler.

Not bad for a kilig Filipino movie.

In this context, kilig means 'romantic excitement.'

Rocky III (1982)

Still effective
9 January 2016
The third installment of the Rocky franchise. This film focuses more on Rocky Balboa after he became the world champion in boxing but then falls into many struggles in his life.

For me, this is the most gritting, suspenseful and heart felt Rocky movie (not including the IV, V, VI and Creed). All because of the outstanding actors. The script was amazing. The storyline that is slightly clichéd but it was not obvious because many things are happening. I loved the character development especially, Creed's spotlight is on here.

I still loved this installment.

A must-watch film.

Superb and outstanding
9 January 2016
The second installment of Rocky which follows the struggles in retirement after he was defeated by Apollo Creed. He experiences challenges of having a family until he accepted Creed's proposal in a rematch.

The preparation for the climax expresses reality. The script is awesome. Storyline was good as I expected, I thought it will just be rip off of the first part, but it wasn't. Actors performed amazingly. The story is perfectly executed. Character development is just fine. The climax brought justice of this sports drama sequel.

One of the best classic films.

Must watch.

Failed so much as a film
8 January 2016
NOTE: I am a Non-INC member and I was open minded when I watched this movie.

A historical film which traces the origins of the religion, Iglesia ni Cristo. Two Guinness World Records holder.

Production design was good. The set feels what era the certain scene is in. Dennis Trillo as Felix Manalo is very applaudable. Other than that, it was very flawed. It fails cinematography, the visual effects and the storyline. It is a little disjointed and rushed and full of irrelevant scenes. Obviously religiously biased and failed to enlighten both sides. Inappropriately lengthy for this kind of movie.

Intense, thrilling biopic
8 January 2016
Set in the era of Philippine-American war and follows the story of an artistic, poet and a witty General, Antonio Luna.

Intense, thrilling biopic movie that starred awesome actors. They all acted their parts fantastically. Gave me goosebumps on some scenes because of its high-quality direction. One scene to be exact is the one long shot of the character's background.

Forget Star Cinema, forget GMA Films, watch these type of movies.

An eye-opener Filipino film and this should be the start of deviation of the clichéd romance 'kilig' Filipino movies.

This is the second Filipino movie that made me this hype. First was On the Job. These are must watch films.

One of the best films of 2015.

A must-watch film.

Please...no, more
8 January 2016
New homeowners found a special camera possibly left by the previous owners. A family must protect a little girl haunted by an evil entity or what they said as a 'demon'.

This getting sick found-footage type film creates a big difference on its predecessor. The acting makes me laugh, it was so bad. As in worse than an underpaid actor. To compare this installment with the other sequels, except the original Paranormal Activity, this contains a little mystery but... this was supposed to be a sequel, why is it too disjointed? Didn't like the plot, it was clichéd.

One of the worst films of 2015.

Watch at your own risk.

High expectations met
8 January 2016
Based on true life story of the French Daredevil Wire Walker...i'm sorry, wire-artist, Philippe Petit's road to his dream: to walk the World Trade Center towers.

I love its comedic and light atmosphere which makes the audience watch more of it. Great acting from Joseph Gordon Levitt. Visual effects are very outstanding. I wish I watched this in IMAX 3D. Amazing direction from Robert Zemeckis and a captivating script.

The problem was: the fillers found in the first hour of the film. Partially relevant from the story.

I liked it very much.

One of the best films in 2015.

Effective challenge
8 January 2016
Sports-drama which follows Rocky "Italian Stallion" Balboa's life and struggle as a small time boxer challenged by a boxing champion, Apollo Creed.

Actors really 'acted'. The script of this movie is just beautiful. I liked the way the story becomes character-driven but in a non-boring way. This is not a boxing movie with full of actions and lots of cheesy romance stuff but with an emotional and the thoughts of struggling life.

I was entertained with this movie, although it was predictable.

A must-watch classic film.

Laughs and survival
8 January 2016
Sci-fi comedic film from the director of Alien and Prometheus, Ridley Scott, and starring Matt Damon. A film about a NASA astronaut stranded in planet Mars and thrives for survival until he finds a way to contact Earth. A matter of survival and friendship.

The light atmosphere of this movie makes the story as simple it can be because the space stuff is really darned complicated. It feels like the actors are really into it, hence, the acting is very effective. A movie Very entertaining. I laughed a lot of times.

One of the best films of 2015. Far better than Gravity(2013).

Liked it so much. A must-watch film.
