Rise of Empires: Ottoman: The New Sultan (2020)
Fair depiction of the siege of Constantinople
This documentary was well done and the acting was pretty good. The expert interviews were pretty informative. However, I wish they would have been more historically accurate. The inhabitants of Constantinople were treated to massacres and brutality for three days after the Ottomans conquered it. Turkey today pressures film makers to hide ugly facts about their ancestors, but why not be courageous for history's sake. This is equivalent to making a documentary of the Armenian-Assyrian-Greek Genocide but leaving out any mention of massacres of the innocent civilians. Historical facts should not be buried even if they occurred thousands of years ago. It's a shame this film fell victim to the policy of appeasement when it comes to the treatment of the history of the Ottoman Turks.

Terrible all around
Aweful movie. Bad acting. Events that never happened. An obvious attempt to make the siege of Constantinople seem like a plus for the inhabitants of the city. Apparently there was a three day massacre of the people of Constantinople which is not even hinted at. Movies like this don't deserve to see the light of day.

Awesome depiction of the siege of Vienna
F. Murray Abraham was great as usual but so were all the other actors. There should be more movies like this so we don't forget the pivotal moments throughout history. Living in Europe would have been like living in Turkey had the Ottoman Turks not been stopped at Vienna. I don't think enough people realize how different the two cultures are. Hopefully the Turks are done with their ambitions to conquer all of Europe.
