Unless otherwise noted, these are theatrical viewings during the original release. In the early 1990s, I transitioned to almost exclusively viewing at home, so most entries after 1994 were viewed via home video media whether it's specified or not.

Despite being one of the classic Frankie/Annette Beach movies, "Beach Blanket Bingo" qualifies as a fantasy film by having a actual mermaid in it, portrayed by none other than Marta Kristen, perhaps more famous for her role in the classic "Lost in Space" TV series.
"Lisztomania" may be typical Ken Russell weirdness, but it's surreal fantasy-charged weirdness that puts it almost on par with "Rocky Horror," which well qualifies it for its place here.
And such like ...
Also listed here are films, documentary and otherwise, that are about fannish culture, like the two "Trekkies" films and "Train Man."

My First Ishirô Honda Tokusatsu Movie!
Looking back, this was most memorable for being the first classic Ishirô Honda tokusatsu film I had ever seen on the big screen. The visual spectacle of the signature miniature work supervised by visual effects directors Sadamasa Arikawa and Sokei Tomioka, plus the exciting music score by Honda's favorite composer, Akira Ifukube, always stuck firmly in my memory. Unfortunately, because I only got to see it once during its original release, when I was in elementary school, I'd forgotten much of its actual story until I got to see it again on TV sometime in the 1980s.
Very much a product of its time, but among the best tokusatsu films Honda produced. Not required viewing ahead of watching the semi-sequel anime Super-Atragon, but purists should watch this first.
