Tomorrowland (2015)
If you're wat hing it in 2023...
...you have to admire the optimistic tone that we can change the world from it's unsavory dark future. It still holds true, but we are 7 years further down the road. Multiple ideas have come to fruition, and many have not...yet...
A lovely movie to get lost in, and return from with a positive vibe. Hopefully one that will motivate you to 'do better' in the future, even when 'better' are only small steps.
Nice visuals, effects, and overall cinematography. Overall kid friendly. The story is an almost standard 'feel good' concept. And the main characters are very good in their part. I think Hugh Laurie did an awesome job and was the perfect fit 👍
Enjoy.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Good grief😳
... that trippy storyline in "The very Pulse of the Machine". That mayhem in "Jibaro"...
All episodes in a different style yet all insanely well done. I can't even say which I liked best; if it's not the art, then it's the compelling story.
Can I have some mo'?
The Pentaverate (2022)
Heh you gotta admit...
... that it was pretty clever. This was chock-full of tropes, references, and silky remarks. Well done for keeping me entertained for 6 eps here 👍
Just dive in without expecting something sinister or heavy, this is just lighthearted fun.
I can't imagine the laughs they had when making this 😄
Babylon 5: A Late Delivery from Avalon (1996)
Dr Stephen Franklin's first line :D
Did Dr. Stephen Franklin coin the disease 'Banta Flu'? (right after the starting credits)
That had me chuckling. A good start for an ep.
I wonder if it's a coincident or a reference to Star Wars... I've noticed quite some references to both fictional and non-fictional stories and events already, so I'll go with that.
After Life (2019)
"Have a go", they said. "Have a laugh" they said
Well, I turned it on almost on a whim. But this seamless switching between humour and depression is downright astonishing.
Just go watch it. It's not all laughs.
Arcane: League of Legends (2021)
A new standard
A new standard for both animation quality and story telling. A lush, rich world where magic and science go hand-in-hand (or opposing forces?)
Never played League of Legends, so no previous experience with the characters.
Insanely well done. I hope to see more of this; either from this universe, or from this genre, or this level of immersion.
What If...?: What If... Thor Were an Only Child? (2021)
Love it when people get silly 😂
It's really great when the famous peeps get together for silliness.
I didn't expect them to be there to lend their voices for this, but... lovely 😅👍
Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021)
Sequel is better 👍
Oh wow, such polarized reviews 😳
Where the first was a nice movie based on the stereotypes both a tors can play well, this sequel not only adds more actors doin' their job in excess, it also adds more mayhem, insanity, jokes, more not-taking-itself-too-serious, and more action. You liked the first, you'll like this one too.
It's more comedy than the first movie, and it has more action.
Get beer/popcorn/your-favorite-snack and press play 👍
Willy's Wonderland (2021)
I went in completely unprepared
This is both hilarious, and campy, and worth your time.
I went in completely unprepared and so should you 👍
Kittenhood (2015)
More informative than I expected
I expected 'just' a documentary where they would follow a few cats, but quite a few times the narrator came up with a nugget of knowledge I hadn't heard before.
This was a slightly different and very refreshing format.
The Blacklist: The Kazanjian Brothers (No. 156/157) (2020)
Kudos for the personal speeches at the beginning
Impressively daring take on how to finish the episode. Whatever anyone's opinion about the episode (or the storyline) You have to admit that trying times Like these need Solutions.
Mostly I want the cast & crew to feel their efforts lauded; I hope they read this.
Død snø 2 (2014)
... and then you discover there was a sequel, 6 years later
I enjoyed the first one a lot; fun, laughs, jokes, tropes, references to other movies...
And then in 2020 you discover a sequel was made in 2014 😱
Of course, a sequel, I probably shouldn't get my hopes up, but... it was a blast. Tying it in with the previous movie, seamlessly I might add, they step up the gore, jokes, ánd destroy some cliches by breaking the rules. (Babies aren't off limits)
It's more Brain Dead and Shaun of the Dead, than Dawn of the Dead, so if that's your thing and you haven't seen both of them (Dead Snow's) yet, definitely see both of them. 👍
(And of course a short after-credits scene)
The Order: Spring Outbreak, Part 2 (2020)
I lolled 👍
The show has had -many- a reference towards current affairs as well as pop-culture.
Even though this specific one (cameo of 90210 cast) Might be an unexpected one, it actually is pretty consistent with the types of jokes and comic relief that permeates thus whole series.
Considering the target audience, I wonder if they got it, since it might be from just a bit 'before their time'.
I applaud the writers of making me lol and write a review about this series (well, this particular episode specifically)
Knives Out (2019)
A great execution
Apart from it beibg a rather entertaining movie, you get to see Evans as a really good bad guy. And the wondeful (and heartbreaking) performance of Plummer. His look, when Marta is scrambling to find the 'antidote'. Plummer shows how acting without dialogue (and even with only a singular glance) can convey the strongest of emotions.
After the movie you really should read the trivia, and see how many you've got.
Jessica Jones (2015)
Powerful
Season 1 was all about the cat & mouse game with Killgrave. But with season 2 I noticed what a powerful role Malcom is.
