Les années bleues (1998)
Last of the AB series.
Last of the AB series. This sitcom is intended as a French version of Friends. Program: saucy humor and cartoonish stereotypes. And yet this ephemeral series in only 22 episodes has two assets: the charm of the pretty Virginie Desarnauts, well known to the French public, and the talent of singer Christophe Rippert (whose songs were often present in the French top 50 in the early 90.) who turns out to be an excellent actor.
The Wonderful World of Disney: Nancy Drew (2002)
Good movie, but....
It is arguably the most controversial version of Nancy Drew by fans and critics alike. And why? The actors are all excellent, the problem is not there. While watching the film, the viewer actually feels like a feeling of unease, and it comes quite simply from the fact that screenwriters and director have constantly hesitated between making a film for "midinette" and a real detective film. The best episode of the series.
The best episode of the series. Winks to Samuel Warren and Arthur Conan Doyle, friendly actors, and Agatha Christie who invents a kind of superhero before the Marvel. Dermot West is an ancient soldier who fought on the Mesopotamian front during the Great War and has a strange power: the red signal. The whole episode is bathed in mysticism, mysteries, all in the heart of the London fog. It's almost like a Harry Dickson adventure. This episode is well above the rest of the series. A delight.
Stargate: Base Gamma (2017)
With means, but ...
French make a movie Stargate? And why not ... With a budget not that huge but a team of amateur actors visibly passionate, this film surprises. The special effects are rather successful, and the whole thing lets itself be watched, even if it is obvious that the actors are not professionals, and that the film is particularly violent. Available in French, English, Italian and German subtitles, the film has been banned in movie theaters under 12 years old. Stargate Base Gamma is released in the cinema, but only in a few cinemas in eastern France, and also in Blu-ray. Noted, that the production of the original series participated in the film, notament in lending, renting and selling material of the original series...
