Man of Steel (2013)
Amazing.
Earlier today I watched Man of Steel with extremely high standards, expecting it to be my new favorite movie. Although it isn't my new favorite movie (it's my second favorite movie) it was still amazing. The emotion conveyed by the actors was astonishing, there wasn't that much humor but I did giggle at certain scenes. I felt the beginning of the movie was a bit too fast-paced and I would have loved to see it paced at a decreased speed in exchange for another half hour of the movie. The action was amazing, the flying looked realistic, Henry Cavill did wonders as Superman but who really took the spot light was Russel Crowe as Jor-El. Jor-El was easily my favorite character in the movie with Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman as a close second. The soundtrack was surprisingly great. It's a great movie. 9.7/10. 0.3 points off just because of certain aspects I disliked such as the fast pace at the beginning and the ending of the final battle felt anti-climactic.
Smallville (2001)
Great start, bad ending.
OK so Smallville started out as a pretty good show, being rated as an 8 out of 10 in my opinion, but the way that it ended was terrible. To think that the whole entire TV show was just a story book is insane. Considering that the narration is omniscient, and having a book published that tells everyone where you are from and what you looked like is something that Superman would probably never do, because it would just essentially tell everyone that he's Clark Kent. The villains used towards the end shouldn't have been used at all considering that Clark wasn't Superman in the show. Examples would be Zod, Bizarro, and Darkseid. Darkseid especially, was disappointing. They didn't give him much screen time and he only actually does anything at the end of the season. My main complaint was Season 10 due to the lack of story and breaking the "no tights, no flights" rule.
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Really good movie with a few flaws.
The Dark Knight Rises was everything I expected it to be, however it did not beat The Dark Knight. The movie has a slow start but really picks up it's pace when Batman comes onto the screen for the first time in the movie. After the Stock Exchange scene, the movie seems to go by really fast and I wish that it didn't end so quickly. Anne Hathaway did an amazing job as Catwoman, you could really see it in her eyes. Bane was difficult to understand at times but it was awesome hearing him say the exact lines that Ra's Al Ghul said in Batman Begins. Alfred projected his emotions very well and I empathized him. Christian Bale did an outstanding job portraying Batman, however I miss the rougher voice that he had in The Dark Knight. The ending was alright but it left me asking a lot of questions, such as if Bruce and Selina are in a relationship or not. The Dark Knight was more thrilling and had more intense scenes. There were a lot of witty remarks and quoting. I do however miss the gliding and grapple gun. The build up in suspense before Batman's actual appearance was outstanding, especially since I couldn't stop smiling when he made his truly iconic appearance. In all it was a 9.5 out 10 movie, but since they don't allow 9.5 ratings on IMDb, I rounded it and it's 10. The Dark Knight Rises is LEGENDARY.
