Thought-provoking look at disability
21 June 2024
This documentary really threw me for a loop. I went into it expecting a classic cut-and-dry true crime doc, but it ended up leaving me with an empty feeling in my throat. This, because either way the cookie crumbles, someone is suffering.

It began with a great story of a man and a woman working on the man's ability to communicate, and overturned into something completely different.

I really loved the way this was filmed, and how it really gives you, the viewer, a chance to see where you fall in the (unfortunate) black and white world of disability. I hope it generates more awareness of the polarizing effect so many people with disabilities face.

Thoroughly enjoyed this show.

I watched this show when it came out, and unfortunately not until the end of the season did my boyfriend and I found out it was being cancelled. We were both addicted, wanting to know more! This show shouldn't have been cancelled so fast, they didn't even give themselves a chance for redemption. The producers should have seen that if they just added another season, gave the community some kind of climax to get their hearts going - that more viewers would have began watching. It was a great show and I am ultimately disappointed that it got cancelled. I would have liked to see how they would have continued it. But overall, although it's only one short season, it's a great show! Many ups and downs and intense moments. It was a very interesting show and one I looked forward to each week. I would definitely recommend The Messengers to anybody who is curious about a higher power in our world. Enjoy the show!
