Nothing happens, and that's not an exaggeration
22 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
2/10 because the cast is good.

0/10 for everything else.

Nothing happens. The mansion is hardly even backdrop. Essentially the entirety of their time in the mansion is pitch black until they fire their weapons, and then you get a glimpse of light from the muzzle flash.

I was excited for this, but man, what a waste of a good cast.

You actually don't see the killer kill anyone..
8 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Not in that first 7 episodes at least. You also don't even get to see the killer at all, really. You see a shadowed figure push someone, but that's it and it takes 7 episodes to happen.

This could have been okay, not great, but at least average if we actually got some "slasher movie" moments. This is more like 90210 than I Known What You Did Last Summer.

Chucky (I) (2021– )

A lot of bad reviews and I don't get it?
2 November 2021
It's fun, it's thrilling, it's CHUCKY! What's not to like? The writing is definitely the weakest link here, but even it's not bad. If you were to rank this with the movies it's like the rest (with the exception of the excellent first movie).. entertaining.

It's a lot of fun. Give it a shot.

Lucky (IV) (2020)

Feel long at under 1hr 15mins..
26 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was attracted to the premise of Lucky, but unfortunately it becomes dull quickly.

The police never take her seriously. They never collect evidence (even with pools of blood left behind). We are never told why her husband knows the man comes every night but she has no memory of him. Theres a scene that shows multiple women being attacked by their own individual predators, yet the cops aren't taking it seriously? It would be the only thing in the paper, on the news, etc..but nope. A new pile of dead women every day apparently doesn't concern them at all.

Perhaps the biggest issue is the ending. The film is a metaphor that's about a subtle as a sledgehammer, and that's fine. It's the delivery that's the issue.

It's as bad as the other reviews say it is
7 October 2021
The title has nothing to do with the movie, but is definitely the best part of it. Who the killer is becomes obvious as soon as you see the actor, and they have no real motive. The protagonist is talented, but wasted as she focuses more on troubles in her relationship than she does the murderer running around town.

The masks are great though, and original. The music is solid. That's it. The rest is bad. Really, really bad.

Brilliant.

I have to agree that the VIPs are the weakest point to the show, but they hardly ruin it. Don't let the criticism towards them stop you from watching what may be the best miniseries I've ever seen.

I look forward to watching this again.

Not bad, but not good
25 July 2021
In my opinion, 1666 is the weakest of the trilogy.

Positives: Costuming, set design, and casting of supporting roles were are all well done. The score was creepy enough and the best of the three.

Negatives: Directing and writing. Story was okay, but nothing we haven't seen many times before.

Overall the trilogy passed time and offered at least an entertaining first watch, but it would have benefited greatly from using different directors for each entry.

A sweets charging, and fun movie that you can watch with your kids and like it as much, if not more than they do.

The Invisible Man (I) (2020)
5/10
It's not bad, but it's flaws are distracting.
14 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There's some stupid character decisions. Every character who's on screen for more than 2 minutes makes unrealistic choices that would have to be made for the story to advance. The twist was also predicable.

The good:

It's entertaining and well directed. Acting is solid as well.

The bad:

A dog brushing up against a car doesn't set it's alarm off.

Cecilia flees her home to get away from her abusive husband..on foot? There's a car right next to her. Cut the tires to the other vehicles and drive away.

The invisible man shows up and starts messing with her, nobody believes it, so she doesn't install a single camera or use the one on her phone.

A girl gets hit in the head. Cecilia is in a position that would make it essentially impossible to have done it, but gets blamed.

Cecilia, knowing she's being stalked and attacked by the invisible man, meets her sister at a restaurant and decides having a knife on the table is a good idea.

Cecilia is attacked by the invisible man in the mental hospital. When a guard comes in and is attacked she just watches, and then steps over his body and runs away instead of grabbing his gun.

Footsteps make noise, but the invisible mans seem not to. Not even on an old wooden floor.

We're meant to believe that Adrian set Tom up, but how? And why would Tom put the suit on and attack people? Say Adrian made him a gunpoint, okay. Now Tom is in the suit and invisible, he could walk away and tell the police.

Was Tom in on it the whole time? If not, who's ashes did he have? Who took the picture of Adrian's body?

How did Adrian put himself in the basement and then nail the board in place from the outside?

When Cecilia shoots the suit it quits working and is completely visible, so why does it work when she puts it on afterwards to kill Adrian? Won't people wonder why the suit is missing from the previous crime scene?

When Cecilia kills Adrian she comes back and calls 911 while pretending to be distraught. When she hangs up she doesn't try to help him, but taunts him as he's dying. She does this in front of the security cameras that she knows are there.

There's more, but those we're the most frustrating to me.

It's nothing close to Scream
9 May 2021
I saw other review mention Scream and wanted to post saying that this is nothing like Scream. It's not even a little similar. Overall not terrible movie, but not good. Worth a watch once if you can overlook the last 30 seconds.

It's closer to Sorority Row than anything.

Ties up the first season nicely

This was a good first season overall and the finale was great, though a little cliche. Excited for season 2.

This is the the greatest superhero movie to date
8 April 2021
No contest. This is the best. The character are fleshed out beautifully, you care about them all, and the story is incredible. 10/10.

This can't be the end. Give Snyder the keys and a blank check.

Giving it a 6 for the visuals. Overall not very good.

Warning: Spoilers
Seeing this was highly rated made me give it a chance against my better judgement. It was...ok?

They fight, but they need each other to defeat the villain..so they fight, then they don't fight anymore, then they fight the villain. Then it ends.

It's not Wrong Turn at all, but it's pretty good.
12 February 2021
This obviously wasn't written or shot to be a reboot or sequel to Wrong Turn, but it is a pretty good horror movie.

Ben O'Toole is fantastic, as is the movie!
3 February 2021
I loved this movie. It's not the best movie I've ever seen, but it's in my top 10 as the most fun. I've watched it twice in three days, which is rare, but Ben O'Tooles acting is so enjoyable that after watching it myself I wanted to watch it again with my wife.

Can't recommend this movie enough.

It's..okay.

WW1984 isn't as polished as the first film, but overall it is a fun movie with sloppy writing/cgi/directing.

My biggest issue with it is that it serves no purpose. It's not important to the overall DC universe and it really doesn't mean anything as a stand alone film either.

It's fun, but that's about it.

A solid 7 that would have been a 10 if..

Warning: Spoilers
..they hadn't decided to rewrite history in the final episode. The entire series had been fairly accurate until we see Janet Reno, who here is portrayed as caring, compassionate, and concerned for those inside the compound. Why not just depict the events honestly? Reno approved the raid and then lied about the behavior of the FBI/ATF in an attempt to cover the criminal lengths her agencies had gone.

Overall it was a very enjoyable miniseries, just take it with a grain of salt towards the end.

Knives Out (2019)
5/10
I must have seen a different movie than those leaving high reviews
30 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This should have been a great movie.

I'm not going to go through the plot, as it's covered here many times over. I'm going to highlight the glaring issues with the film instead.

It's drawn out to the point that you almost don't care who did it, which is fine, because it's obvious who did it less than an hour in.

Marta clearly says within 5 minutes of the dose the patient would be showing symptoms and sweating, but that doesn't happen. Harlan never shows any symptoms whatsoever, and we know Marta is there long enough for them to present. This gave away that she didn't OD him.

Later on the film a person actually is given a fatal dose of the morphine around 8am (the same one that kills you in 10 minutes), but is magically alive at 10am when Marta arrives. 10 minutes =/= 2 hours. This was just incredibly lazy.

If you think someone is a murderer why would you set a meeting with them in a dark abandoned building with no form of defense?

Marta leaves her bag there daily, as were told. Why wouldn't Harlan just wrote a suicide note claiming he intentionally overdosed on morphine? Removes all the need for the whole mess if a sloppy cover up.

Overall, this movie is fun to watch for a bit, but becomes tedious because it's so lazy and flawed.
