We tried to watch but...
28 April 2024
We were actually looking forward to this series. Me, my husband, and the kids really enjoyed both recent Sonic movies. We saw both in the theater. So when we saw this was coming out, we were looking forward to the release.

Okay, let's be fair, the good stuff first. It's clean and appropriate for children, other than no one dying violence. I always appreciate family entertainment because I like it too. CGI is fabulous. The episodes look visually well made. Love the soundtrack.

Now the bad. It's boring. We made it through the first 3 episodes before we unanimously decided to stop watching. The story just wasn't interesting. The acting is not real good either, that was bothering me. We are not planning to finish watching the series.

Cute Superhero Movie for Kids
10 March 2024
This movie stayed true to the original show. I liked it because it is a superhero movie that my kids can watch. No language, no really scary villains, and the violence was light. The nostalgia was cool too. Everyone always likes beloved character returns.

From an adult perspective though, I would have enjoyed a more thought out plot and better graphics. It looks pretty low budget, except for the new suits. I had higher expectations for a movie. It was basically a longer episode with no big changes, plot twists, or character growth.

Overall, we enjoyed it as a family. The Nickelodeon content is the reason we keep Paramount+.

Not bad, just not great.

I'm not really sure what to make of this movie. It was cool for nostalgic reasons but overall I was underwhelmed. To start off...it was dark. I don't mean dark themed, I mean I couldn't see what was going on in the underwater scenes. I'm a scuba diver, so if they were going for realism, they succeeded. But it's a movie about mermaids and a sea witch...I would have preferred to be able to see what's going on. I went with several moms and lots of kids ages 4 -10. The 4 year old was scared several times and covered her eyes, so I don't recommend it for kids on the younger side. The actress who played Ariel seemed rather lifeless and just flat out boring a few times. It was also really long, too long for kids. There were lots of kids in the theater and many of them had lost focus by the end and were talking or moving around. Things I liked where the shallow water scenes. They were bright and colorful and the CGI was great. The guy who played Eric did a fantastic job. The songs where good too. It wasn't bad, just not great.

Season 5, Episode 27

Hilarious
1 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Season 5 writing got really good and this episode was funny for all ages. We all loved the bird pooping in Ray's mouth. It was unexpected and I laughed so hard I cried. The kids thought that was crazy funny too. Even my husband laughed and he isn't a big fan of the show. My kids are too young for social media, so I'm not sure how much of the influencer/follower stuff they understood, but I did and it was funny how they made fun of it. The kids love how crazy Ray is even though he supposed to be the adult/hero. I like that it's clean entertainment we can watch as a family, that's actually funny. I grew up in the 80s, and whoever is writing this show did too. The kids don't get all the old pop culture references but they don't have to, that's why it's good for all ages.

Danger Force: A Henry Among Us (2021)

Best Episode So Far
3 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Of the first 2 seasons, I think this is the best episode. It got away from most of the extreme silliness in the other episodes and showed character growth for the kids, their super powers and their team work. Teaming up two of the strongest villains from the original show and calling in Henry for backup was genius. Captain Man, while still suffering from being a man child, took leadership of his team and made decisive decisions. Something you don't see in most of this series. Anytime he fights Drex he becomes a better hero. The chemistry between the characters Ray and Henry hasn't yet been completely recreated with Ray and the Danger Force kids. Probably because there is 4 of them and that will take longer to develop well. But I have noticed improvement in season 2. Ray and adult Henry balance each other out and it's good to see they can just pick up where they left off.

Henry Danger: Broken Armed and Dangerous (2019)

Hilarious Episode
22 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the funniest episodes of the entire series. There are a lot of really good episodes but this one has a little of it all. You have a vulnerable, injured hero trying to keep his secret identity from getting out and they mange to come up with an absolutely hilarious way of getting Henry out of it. I'm an adult who watches with my kids. Anytime you add poop to a situation, kids just lose their minds. My kids laughed so hard at this episode. I'm an adult who likes what light-hearted, not to serious entertainment. I guess that's why I watch 90s sitcom reruns and kids shows over the intense streaming shows available now. They really did a great job on his episode.

We just recently finished the series and the kids started rewatching the entire thing. My daughter even dressed up as Kid Danger for Halloween and talked her Daddy into being Captain Man (he wasn't real thrilled). She wore her costume to school and another little girl (the only black girl in her class) was Charlotte. They didn't plan it and were so excited to have coordinating costumes. I had to write this extra paragraph to meet the minimum character limit. I know nobody cares about my kid's Halloween costume.

Let's See More Henry!
23 September 2022
I watch this with my kids. The episodes when Henry returns are by far the best. I like Ray's character too, Cooper has always done a great job of being an adult actor on a kids show. Us moms watching are thankful for Cooper. ;) I will admit this show isn't as good as Henry Danger but kids still like it, and that's what's important. They have a good idea with creating a Dangerverse or super hero verse for kids. My 9 year old wants to watch Black Widow but it's just too dark. I'm thankful there are other female heros for her to watch while she is young. I hope they continue the series and bring back more Henry!

Great Super Hero for Kids
23 September 2022
We recently discovered this show on Netflix. My kids are 9 and 12 and love it. I like it too and we watch it as a family. It's a silly action show, the violence is light and there are not a lot of adult themes, which make it a great alternative to watching the adult hero movies and shows with your kids. My kids think the shenanigans that go on and situations the characters get into are hilarious. I've always been a big super hero fan. Henry Danger reminds me of watching the original Batman series when I was a kid, which I loved. Hoping Netflix gets all seasons soon and looking forward to the upcoming movie.

Funny, Better Than the First
9 April 2022
My kids begged me to take them to see Sonic 2. The first one was fairly good, but I really wasn't interested in see the second in the theaters. To my surprise, I really enjoyed it. I think it was actually better than the first one and I found myself not wanting to take a mid-movie restroom break because I was afraid I was going to miss something important. It was funny, action packed and had a good story. Everyone in the theater clapped when it was over. I also enjoyed it just being a kids movie and none of that unnecessary underlying social activism Disney sneaks into their kid's movies. There is lots violence, use of language like "holy shiitake" and "Oh my God," and some elements (action and violence) that may be scary for very young viewers. My middle schooler said it was "awesome." Overall, they have done a good job with bringing this character to the big screen, twice now.

Better Than Expected
17 October 2020
I had never heard of this movie and just happened to stumble upon a scene from it on YouTube. We do a family movie night every Friday night and were looking for something new. I enjoyed it, it was nostalgic for me and my kids loved it. It has a lot of sh*! and other minor language, especially for a PG movie but it was 1986. Just don't take it too serious, most of the movie is pretty far fetched, especially if you know anything about the actual STS. They do use the real Atlantis in some shots. I'm planning to take my kids to see it at KSC. They were both born about the time the program was retired, so to them the shuttles are old history.

Better Than Expected
23 October 2019
I have enjoyed all the Marvel movies but Tom Holland's version of Peter is very real. He does a great job of portraying a teenager and teenager issues. I like the characters and how they now fit into the MCU post Endgame. Looking forward to the next one!

Just the beginning...
29 June 2018
I watched the first one (The Quest for Heroes) because it was on Amazon Prime and looked interesting. It was okay. I went a few weeks and then decided to watch the next movie, then the next day I watched the 3rd. By this time I'm used to the characters and want to find out what happened next. I watched number 4 and 5 the following day. Each one seemed to get better. Understand this, these movies are not incredibly well made. It looks like it was made for TV and not theater quality, which didn't bother me. Acting was good, filming locations where beautiful but the CGI was low budget. It really seemed like I was watching a TV series with really long episodes. Especially since this is one story broken up into 5 movies. I liked it and really wanted to watch it to the end. If you like the medieval, wizardry, love story, underdog type story...this is for you.
