I actually enjoyed this movie, which I wasn't expecting as I thought it was going to be a naff comedy. The mix of action, horror and comedy might not be for everyone, but it hit the spot for me. I've listed 'action' first as there was some very gory John Wick/Equaliser-esque action sequences which I thoroughly enjoyed.
For those scoring the film low because they don't like Awkwafina, don't watch films with her in if you don't like her and then you won't be disappointed. She was actually pretty good in this in my opinion, in a mostly serious role for a change.
Also, a pretty decent performance from Nicholas Hoult. Nothing groundbreaking, but he held his own.
For me Nic Cage's performance was exactly what most people expect of him and a lot of people like that. For me, it missed the mark and his performance was the weakest of the film, which is a bit disappointing. If the film had leant a bit more towards comedy, then his performance would have worked, but that's just my opinion and I think that might be why this film divides opinion.
