One of the best movies of Chiranjeevi
16 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This little known gem is one of the best movies of Telugu super star Chiranjeevi (fondly referred to as Chiru by his fans). The story is very different from routine and imaginative. Chiru and Sakshi are friends. They share a relationship that is way beyond the normal love/romantic relationship between a woman and man. For Sakshi, Chiru is father, mother, sister, brother and everything. Chiru's father is willing to get them married, but they refuse because their relationship is not romantic. Chiru marries Ramya and Sakshi marries Suresh. But Suresh turns out to be a crook and womanizer who tortures a pregnant Sakshi. Chiru comes to her rescue, but is misunderstood by Ramya. However, towards the end, Suresh mends his ways and Ramya realizes her mistake and all ends well. In this movie, Chiru plays a true character rather than his usual image of super human good Samaritan. Chiru is known for his excellent comedy timing, but the song in this movie where he celebrates Sakshi's baby shower will prove that Chiru can make us weep too. Unfortunately, this movie did not go well with Chiru fans who were expecting another Gharana Mogudu kind of entertainer from Chiru-K. Raghavendra Rao combination and were disappointed to see an emotional drama where Chiru had very few action scenes and no villain to confront.

A very different Rajanikant
8 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
For a person like me who grew up watching super star Rajanikant's super man like persona and reading all those jokes about his impossible heroism, this movie would be a shocker. Rajani in this movie is very different where plays an overrated supporting role while Rajesh Khanna is the leading man. Rajani's character makes his appearance about 1 hour after the movie starts, has negative shades, kills the hero's parents and even abducts the heroine. While Khanna gets to romance all 3 beauties in the movie, Rajani has no love interest. And in the climax, he loses a sword fight to Kaka! The redemption for his character comes only in the last 2 scenes, but Rajani still leaves his mark with a stylized performance. Rajesh Khanna looks a little aged to be singing duets with girls half his age, but gives a seasoned performance in a character where he has nothing new to offer. All three leading ladies look pretty, but Meenakshi is easily the best. Music is a let down.

Typical 80s Bollywood Multistarrer
9 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Typical 80s style Bollywood pot boiler with stars, glamor, action, song-dance routine, loud comedy and some emotional conflict. Our leading men, Jeetu and Dharam are kind hearted con-men who are on a mission to save an innocent young man, convicted for a murder he did not commit. Towards the end, the movie turns out to be a typical revenge drama. Dharmendra shows good comedy timing, but looks too old to play to play a romantic lead. Jeetu is his usual wooden self, but looks dashing and energetic. The girls are mere glamorous props, but Bhanupriya looks beautiful and dances gracefully. It is a pity that she never achieved stardom in Bollywood.
