BlackBerry (2023)
Great story - horrible choice of cinematic look
There is much to like about the story but very hard to watch. I cannot even write anything in depth about story - actors - script because the film is so distractingly ugly (director and producer choice?) So what happened here. Digital cameras are of such high quality the decision to make a film look like this is inexcusable. This story needed to be told - it is not just a Canadian story it's a great story. It is discouraging the cinematic choice made this look like a 1960's/70's Canadian film with its colourless palette - pretend documentary feel and lacklustre direction. It took me 6 hours to get through this film because there was only so much I could tolerate at one sitting. I'm SAD.
Picture My Face: The Story of Teenage Head (2020)
This story's universe theme is of undying friendship
We are eager to say "we don't choose our family." Well, four boys from Hamilton Ontario Canada in fact did choose their family and it was called Teenage Head. This documentary was more than just about the punk music scene. Good Lewis (Guitarist), Steve Marshall (Bass), Nick Stipanitz (Drums), and the magnetic Lead Singer Frankie Venom (Kerr), found each other in the 1970's at Westdale High School in Hamilton and became a beloved musical institution for over 4 decades. They became brothers - family. This band was on the precipice of fame - but - life and tragedy derailed what should have been Teenage Head's leaving an historic mark on the world of punk music. Even through the tragic accidents - the death of their beloved brother Frankie Venom - Teenage Head's music will live forever.

very pro! Lighting, pacing, mood was all crisp at. The opening scene with the Russian roulette was wild. Solid twist at the end too. Spooky but not over the top. Dialogue was solid and the Foley fit.
