For All Mankind (2019)
What a fantastic show
I've seen every episode to this day 07/07 so until episode 4 of season 3.
Took me a few episodes to really get to know and empathise with the characters but man, once you're hooked, you're hooked. There's some science things that don't really add up, even when you know little and man i'm no expert, but the high production value and the great performances from the actors are worth it. The intrigues always remain in the realm of the realism so I found it easy to engage with the intrigues and what were at stakes.
Another great gem from Apple TV (with Severance, amongst others) that any fan of space travel shouldn't overlook.
Ms. Marvel: Destined (2022)
Did we watch the same show ?
I get this show targets the fourteen something years old as their audience but come on, it's no reason to get this written by a fourteen years old. It's just lazy writing at this point. What's the point of releasing the girl, if it's just for obviously failing for plot reasons later on to capture her ? And of course, as the papers about ancien hindu lied on the counter, the father read juuuuuuust the right portion relatively about the topic at hand. It IS the definition of lazy writing at his best. Come on. This is insulting.
Superman & Lois: Pilot (2021)
Where were you all this time ?
What did I just watch ? And why did it feel so amazing and fresh at the same time ?
CW upped their game right there.
Didn't know what I was in for. After the HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT that Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Dumbness was, I'm so glad I started this show. My thirst for superhero things was satisfied.
Go for it. You won't regret it.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
When the writers think that there weren't any real "Massacre" in any TCM before...
... and they were kind of right. Words are meant to be precise, and a "massacre" is more than a "kill", or "gruesome" one ; it's violence at his highest possible expression of a man with a chainsaw and a lot of people for him to work with. I didn't like all the previous installment, for I thought few dared deliver a true expression of massacre, and I think this one does a good job at that.
I mean, the bus scene is top-notch.
Plot-wise, some reactions from characters were hard to understand, the kind of scenes that make you roll your eyes up. But I wacthed that movie with the expectation of some good texas chainsaw massacre, and i was clearly not disappointed. I think the directors made a great move here, surfing on that 2022 wave that touching the franchises right now and they made their own thing with their own twisted concepts.
I hope they do a sequel.
American Horror Story: The Future Perfect (2021)
Is this the worst series finale of all AHS ?
I'll answer straightly : it is. It sooooo is.
Nothing is tied up. It's all useless. The writing was lame. No spoiling anything, but man was the "final idea" bad and without any possible credit. We have to conclude the characters are stupid, but that's not too much of an issue since they were antipathic and pointless.
And then, it stops. Roll credits. This is no finale, because it doesn't finale anything.
What If...?: What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark? (2021)
Mediocre at best
Weakest entry so far. Didn't even got a proper ending like others episodes. Events go by too easily, even for a 30 minutes format. Poorly written.
Le chalet (2017)
A unworthy piece of bad drama
I sat through the entire first episode wondering how many time was left. I don't know about the others reviews, but MY GOSH, the acting was so terrible at times it was embarrassing. Please refrain yourself from losing your time.
What If...?: What If... The World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes? (2021)
The best episode so far
I'm one of those who kind of disliked the first two episodes.
But this. This is something new. A murder-mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end. And i feel that if i see anything more about it i would take the risk to spoil you the excitement you get at some scenes, from the first minute, to the last.
Even if the poor-written episode with T'Challah as Star-Lord convinced you to stop watching this show, try at least this amazing one.
Shûmatsu no Valkyrie (2021)
I'm now obssessed with this manga
I didn't know Shuumatsu no Valkyrie before the release of the Netflix's show and made I really loved it. I know there's a lot of complain for the way it's made, its poor animation mainly, I was also surprised by it and found poorly of it.
But man, each episode kept getting better in the story and I began to feel engaged by the storytelling. By the time episode 12 ended, I was in awe.
Not spoilering anything, but this show has characters from Human History, and most of the info they show are real history. And it's a delight to see them fight with supranormal habilities.
10/10 would watch again.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Wow quite a nice surprise
I didn't expect much from the trailer nor from the synopsis itself. But man, that was quite a ride.
Being a huge fan a Edge of Tomorrow, I found some vibes like it in this movie. Great action, and man, the I fell in love with the creatures, and some sequence battle shots are nicely directed.
Only thing is : it's not that original, you'll recognize some tropes and clichés, but well, it works perfectly and all fits together fluidly so, I guess we can call that a movie well made.
I'll rewatch it probably in a little time - I really really loved it.
Black Summer: The Cold (2021)
A unbelievably perfect return
This is my first review on IMDB. I had to do that to balance the bad rating : 6.5 don't give justice to this show, and i mean this second season in his totality. But this first episode, man, was something you'd never seen before in a zombie show.
I don"t mean about the plot, or the character development. Some people are complaining about plot and characters, but those aren't what the show is made. It's made to make you see what dark reality the world is, with camera-perfect plans - and, again, i mean it.
This first episode will show you.sequence shot of zombie pursuit you'd never seen before in any zombie movie. There's a ton of them, and this show is undeniably different because of the directing of each episode. Long shots that mark deep tension between characters. Camera behind characters for a few minutes until an explanation is given. It's brilliant.
Season one had flaws, but man, this episode, and the rest. It was quite a ride.
