Sadly the least humorous one of the franchise, but still enjoyable.

After a full month without cinema this was a bit of a relief, even though this is surely the weakest one of the 4 till now. It is enjoyable, and the visuals are absolutely amazing, but the ridiculous parts and scenes, which made Kung Fu Panda so appealing till now, even for adults, was very lackluster and pale. The jokes were far and in-between, thus making this 4th edition the flattest of them all. In fact I was the only one in the cinema who giggled 4 or 5 times. And there was silence in the rest of the hall. Unfortunately the director put too much weight on the fighting scenes and way too little on humor. Thus it won't be a great loss if you skip this one. 5/10 points.

La marginale (2023)
9/10
Far beyond most movies of this genre.

Many movies have been made about those who have been pushed to the margins of society, some interesting, some heartwarming, but few capture the real essence of how those folks actually feel. This story puts two "Marginalized" of different backgrounds together in a journey of self-discovery, having its ups and downs of humor and tragedy which will surely bring the occasional tear to your eyes. Hopefully everyone having watched this movie will dedicate a bit more effort to help any disadvantaged folks they might encounter in one way or the other in the future. Only a very cold-hearted jerk would not be touched by this flick. 9/10. P. S. The acting of both is absolutely devine!

Sleeping Dogs (2024)
5/10
Interesting, but with a predictable ending.

It's rather an interesting script, but after about half the movie any good moviegoer can imagine the outcome of the story, probably not with all the details, but the core becomes quite clear. I was never a great fan of Crowe and in this movie he could have surely been replaced by a dozen actors. The flick is rather like any decent crime story movie made for TV. It trickles along, with more and more infos coming together, till the obvious ending. One really doesn't need to spend money to watch this in a cinema, and can patiently wait for it to show up on cable sooner or later as you won't miss too much. 5/10 points.

The Dry (2020)
7/10
Surprising and impressive
14 May 2024
Today I caught this on cable, and I was really impressed. It's a very slow cooking, gently emerging crime drama, connecting crimes of the past with present ones, but contrary to many other movies of this genre, one can't imagine anything of the real story. In fact, the last few minutes are the all revealing ones, shocking the viewers to the core as the story ends in an incredible twist. 👍 for a great script. Eric Bana always brings across a perfect, stoic performance, absolutely fitting to the dire, drap and "Dry" surroundings of the Australian interior and the rough personae of a tiny farming town. Though slow and often quiet, the story is worth watching. 7/10 points.

Enjoyable, but weak in comparison to earlier versions.

It starts out pretty great, but after 20 minutes or so it terribly flattens out, with too much talk and too little action. The ending is quite alright again, though absolutely unrealistic, beyond belief. The worst goof up is the cutoff fireman's pole suddenly appearing again for one of the characters to slide down. Please!!! The best about the movie is seeing old GhostBusters actors like Bill Murray and Dan Aktoyd again. But all in all I'd say the last one was way better. The CGI is partly quite impressive, but not anything that we would not pretty much expect nowadays with all technologies available. 5/10 points.

The Fall Guy (2024)

Not as great as one expects, but quite entertaining
14 May 2024
Well, what can I say?! It's entertaining, but surely not as much as I expected. Ryan and Emily are excellent, what really can't be said about any among the rest of the cast. There is a bit of action, but surely not as much as one expects according to the title and the fact of the movie being based on the old series of the same name. There is also some comical romance, but nothing really too convincing. The last 15 minutes plus the credits showing the "making of" scenes to one side of the screen, are the most enjoyable, especially as there are some (somewhat expected) cameos for movie lovers. 6/10 points.
