Don't Look Up (2021)
idiotic with a lowlife Cast
Yes, the cast is talented but Is composed of complete elitist tools. This movie is obnoxious and pretentious just like many of these people are in real life. You have to be insane to watch this waste of film completely to it's conclusion. It's poorly written and made for emotionally crippled elite Hollywood hacks. Honestly, don't waste your time with this mess.
Christmas with the Chosen: The Messengers (2021)
Still rating it a 10/10 for the episode even though the music was frustrating...
LOVED THE ACTUAL EPISODE ITSELF. It actually moved me to tears. Some of the absolute best and most powerful scenes and performances possible. Those 30 minutes was worth trying to sit through the rest of this thing. Some honest reviews here nail it. For over an hour to start this construct is nothing but song after song after song after song after song after song after song... bad lip syncing of revival music on the Chosen set. They honestly bought two plants from Peir One and placed them on the set and told the musicians to pretend to sing. One great verbal exposition by the wonderful actress that plays Peter's wife was also in there somewhere. I had no idea going in that this was 75% music. After about an hour I had to get up and walk out. I checked my phone and discovered reviews here that informed me that an actual episode was eventually coming. I'm so glad I did and instead of walking to my car I walked back in. What hit next was beyond WONDERFUL. Like the series, the little nuances and true essence was in every scene. You could feel the Holy Spirit with the actors and the writers. Best Christmas present possible. Worth the 75% check your watch music to get to that 25% pure gold.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Ridiculously Bad
There is absolutely no plot or story In this movie whatsoever. It is 90 minutes of stupidity sprinkled with bad CGI. Maybe as a Halloween lark you can watch these alien bite and clash. Other than that, this is a waste of film and time. The only thing worth seeing is the after credit sequence where maybe we might get this character done right in the marvel cinematic universe. This movie itself is complete trash.
No Time to Die (2021)
Awful in every way
A James Bond wussified and gives up and dies??? WTF? Why must they ruin all our legends for no reason other then maybe to virtue signal? Shame on them and anyone that praised this trash.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Marvel Has Lost Their Way
I'm a huge Marvel fan and they continue to disappoint in this phase. It's all about shallow virtue signaling and not about character anymore. Why on earth did they decide to go in this direction after Endgame? This movie had it's moments but gets lost and it's on woke lack of depth. I pray this isn't the end of the marvel cinematic universe because we all enjoyed it so much. If it is the end, it was a great 11 year run. Don't waste your time with this nonsense.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Too dumb too enjoy... Violent yet utterly stupid.
Talk about being a few sardines short of a can. This movie is completely asinine. It's violent and shallow unless you're emotionally 12 years old you'll think this is complete garbage. If you are emotionally 12 years old or younger I guess this might appeal to you. It's a brain damaged movie that's not worth anyone's time or effort.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
Insultingly Bad
What did I just watch??? They managed to anger and alienate a fan base all the while adding no new depth to draw in new fans. SPOILERS.... they "kill off" He-Man and hand off the series to a one dimensional Teela character??? Should change her name to Feela to match her awful hair cut and out of character selfish turn. The writing isn't just woke, it's shallow and incompetent. Yes, the animation looks good but does it matter if the story is this bad? Let's not even mention that they also eliminated the only other make character and flat out kill a certain tiny magicial sidekick. Avoid this at all cost.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
25% fun - 75% dumb as dirt
Well, what more is there to say? This movie contains a giant monkey and a giant lizard and they fight a lot. That is the depth and complexity of this movie. All the human characters are ridiculous and shallow. There is no plot whatsoever and if you think about the story your eyes will roll so hard that it will make you dizzy. Forget all that and tune in to watch big monkey punch big lizard because that's all you're gonna get.
WandaVision (2021)
Poor structure...dull, uneven and unintelligent
As this mess unfolds, you can applaud the initiative but have to be stunned at the execution. It's flat out awful. For Marvel's 1st Disney plus effort this is stunningly bad. It meanders aimlessly leaving only Easter eggs as entertainment. 75% of what hits the screen is innocuous and flat out ridiculous. I understand the concept of irony but this isn't even bad parody. It's writers that think they are smart but are not. It's bad episodic TV that doesn't understand the format.
Here's hoping Marvel learns from this misfire.
Debris (2021)
Awful. No Charisma. No Thanks.
Honestly, I struggled to make it through the pilot episode. The TWO leads have got to be the least charismatic actors I've ever seen cast in a series. They are the equivalent of dry toast. The overall story itself may have merit eventually but it comes across as a very shallow attempt to be the next X-Files. A costly swing and a miss here without question.
This thing fails on every level.

Star Trek Beyond (2016)
A completely disposable Trek film ... logic flaws EVERYWHERE.
*SPOILERS*
A completely disposable Trek film that's certainly not awful but certainly nothing remarkable. Beyond is officially the hat-trick of the rebooted franchise where logic flaws rule. Again, a lot of time is spent watching a moody and neutered Captain Kirk getting his butt kicked with the viewer constantly asking themselves, "why didn't he just..." I'm growing tired of rolling my eyes watching these sequels. (SPOILER: The ultimate example of this is at the finale when Kirk gets the drop on the villain and shoots him once hurting him. Instead of finishing him off and saving millions with no fuss, he engages in dialogue with him and allows him to escape able to set off his weapon of mass destruction. WTF? Also, basically a loud hard rock music video is written in to the script and literally saves everyone. WTF?)
On the positive side, the cast chemistry is strong and the new female alien character is a very cool addition. There are some very nice nods and tributes to the original cast including fitting tributes to Leonard Nimoy's Spock. Overall, a disappointment that feels unworthy to be called a cinematic adventure. Despite all the big CGI, the flavor of this thing feels like a disposable TV episode and not a very smart one at that.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
All hail the new KING! The best comic book movie ever made.
Yes, the title says it all. All hail the new KING! I'm not saying this to anger any fan of other franchises but I'd have to rate Age of Ultron a true 10/10 masterpiece and THE best comic book movie ever made. Much like the first Avengers, it is as close to a perfect movie as you can get regardless of the genre. In fact, I consider this effort superior to that first film and I didn't think that was even possible. As has been noted before, Superman had generally held the title as most fondly remembered or nostalgic superhero film flaws and all. Spider-Man had generally held the title as most beloved superhero film because of the character and the time it hit. (Yet, those two awful reboot movies are definitely something the character needs to shake off at this point) TDK had held the title as the most rabidly defended superhero movie from its fan base. Iron Man had generally held the title as best all-around origin film. Captain America The Winter Soldier added its own unique flavor and vaulted to the head of most people's "best sequel" list. However, I can honestly say that Avengers Age of Ultron tops them all in every single category. It is IMO shear perfection on every level. It's smart, intense, well acted, thrilling, fun and superbly done.
I'm confident that when all is said and done this film will be thought of as the best of all-time.
Stargate SG-1 (1997)
Still A Classic! Great Series.
Now that we've all had time to digest this series, it's clear that it will go down in history as one of the best sci-fi shows and series of all-time. Watching any season means watching quality. How many shows can you say that about regardless of genre? Usually, it takes a while for sci-fi shows to hit their mark. Next Generation and Deep Space Nine spring to mind... they were not very good during their early seasons but grew to greatness. With Stargate SG-1, it was good and grew to great. Yes, the final season seemed lacking compared to what had come before but it was still high entertainment. Overall, it saddens me that it is gone and there's take of reboot. Either continue the story or let it rest as legend.
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Just Wonderful! Packed with action, heartfelt emotion, humor, drama and intensity.
Thor The Dark World is brilliant and completely tops the first film. There are a lot of extremely funny bits in it as well as some dark and moving moments. Probably a much funnier movie than it had any right to be given the subject matter. Loki is done perfectly and the dialogue between him and Thor is superb.
If you're a fan of the first, this certainly won't disappoint at all. Without spoiling anything, the scale of this film is very Avengers-like in that the action pieces are amazing. During a sequence halfway through, I literally turned to my friend and said, "this is freakin' awesome".
Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Each frame is packed with action, heartfelt emotion, humor, drama or intensity. I was expecting to simply see crazy mythology with monsters destroying the landscape of the nine realms for two hours. Instead, I was shocked at the depth and complexity of this film. You definitely need your brain and your heart turned on for this one, unlike other CGI mishmashes. If you want a movie with just dumb action and no plot then stay away from this exceptional film. The performances are top tier and the visual effects may be the best I've seen this year. I have to join the majority of people and even critics that are praising this film. It's a true joy and such a pleasant experience.
42 (2013)
Wonderful Film On Many Levels
I have to say I was very impressed with this film and it's FAR better than what I expected. It plays with more heart and better balance than most other films that tackle this well covered subject. It's sentimental but in a very good way. Some people may label that as cheese but it works perfectly here.
As expected, Jackie's perspective and his trials were covered but the film offers a glimpse of the era and other character motivations are touched upon. It was great to see that not every white guy was portrayed as an ignorant redneck fool. There's a fair share of them in the film but there were a fair share of them back then as well. This is almost as much Branch Rickey's (Harrison Ford) movie as it is Jackie's. The supporting characters are wonderful. The baseball itself is sound and shot very well. I was pleasantly surprised to see the faith aspect was actually quite strong. A great line from the film said to Jackie by Rickey: "You need to be like our Savior and have the guts to turn the other cheek." It seems both Rickey and Robinson were devote Christians and the story did not shy away from that factor. Like everything, they played it right without too heavy a hand.
Iron Man Three (2013)
Wonderful! They absolutely played this one just right.
I love the fact that Marvel knew "we can't go bigger than we've just gone." Meaning that to try and follow Avengers with bigger wild action would have been futile. So, they went in a unique, deeper and more powerful direction. Sure there are stunning action sequences but everything is in context of a greater theme and the entire story. They absolutely played this one just right. They let The Avengers sit on its own and didn't do anything but feed off the momentum and actions of that film.
Everything here is focused on Tony Stark and his immediate universe. Avengers 2 is the last thing on anyone's mind watching this and, as much as I loved Avengers, that's a good thing. Everything needs to kind of re-set and take a breath. This movie is NOT concerned with being connected to anything larger or having Nick Fury come in and solve or oversee anything. The events in The Avengers are addressed but only felt as to their effect on Tony's psyche. This movie is about Tony Stark's journey after we've seen him last. It really does perfectly explore his character and develops him deeper than we have seen since the first act of the very first film. It really is the perfect way to go and everything is exceptionally well done.
