Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
50/50 on this one.
This movie could have been one of Marvel's best. Sadly it missed the mark for a myriad of reasons. The comedy being one of them. I'm not at all opposed to comedy i actually enjoy it a lot. The first Guardians movie was a riot. But if you have a story about Gorr, a God killing villain who lost his daughter, and within that same movie a story about love and losing someone to cancer, let up on the damn comedy. Gorr's character and development was rushed. He's a God killer yet he only killed one God on screen. One that didn't even seem like a threat. They could have easily stretched this out into a trilogy and made Gorr a Thanos level threat. And to not show what the villain is capable of on screen and instead of showing the dead God in the aftermath of what happened kind of ruins any tension building with said threat. They could have built the story up over multiple films showing Gorr killing powerful Gods and at the same time Thor building a team to take him on. Such a HUGE missed opportunity. If they would have approached this film with a darker more serious tone and took their time with it it could have easily rivaled Infinity War or even been better. But sadly they threw in too much Disney and not enough Marvel. I really wish Marvel would put on the brakes a little bit and assess what they are trying to do moving forward. There are so many amazing projects coming out in the next few years but if they keep on with these lazy writing choices those projects are doomed from the beginning. Daredevil will not be a continuance of the much beloved Netflix series and from what i read will not even have a mature rating. I have serious fears that one of the best Marvel heroes of all time is going to be neutered like all the rest of my once cherished superheroes. It's really a sad time to be a Marvel COMICS fan. I know these movie are not comic books. But alas they are based on comic books. Recently in title only which is the main issue I'm having as of late.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
The Savage She-Hulk this is not...
I've been a fan of Marvel Comics for over 30 years. I admit I've only read the initial run of the She-Hulk comics a few decades ago (working on The Sensational She-Hulk right now) so this series might be based on something else and not at all what i grew up on. That being said i think taking this direction instead of basing it on the original comics was a huge missed opportunity. I mean the title alone THE SAVAGE SHE-HULK sounds amazing compared to She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. And it's been marketed as a courtroom comedy. The writers themselves said they kept a distance from the courtroom aspect because they couldn't write compelling legal cases and it shows. And the "comedy" if you want to call it that is lackluster at best. And what's with our beloved Jennifer Walters? She was amazing in the comics and not this flawless whining "I'm a constant victim" and life is harder for me than anyone else character. I don't know what audience they were aiming to please but it sure doesn't seem like the Marvel Comics fan. Out of all the Disney+ Marvel shows this is the most juvenile of them all. And this show seems like it's aimed at kids from the marketing and rating but then they throw in some twerking from the woman who brought you WAP!?!! What the hell is that about? I can just picture some 10 year old girl looking up Megan Thee Stallion and coming across that WAP video. WTF were they thinking? And why is the writing so bad? And not in a so-bad-it's-good way. Only Daredevil can save this abomination of a show (pun intended). Oh Marvel i am just sad. With each new endeavour i am becoming even more heartbroken. We haven't even gotten to The Fantastic Four or The X-Men yet. I hope they can turn this titanic around it just keeps getting worse with every new entry. For now I'm sticking with the movies these Disney+ Marvel shows are embarrassing (well aside from Moon Knight).
Bernie Blackout (2020)
Totally unacceptable. And a must watch.
What the Democratic Party, the media and the wealthy fear is not that Bernie couldn't beat Trump, it's that Bernie would beat Trump, transform the Democratic Party, and transform the country. This is a fierce look at Bernie Sanders 2020 bid for presidency. It shows how the mainstream media and the party itself works against a candidate with such progressive values. I implore everyone to watch it. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll get very mad.
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Endgame was garbage...
But this movie was great! All around entertaining from beginning to end. We better get the Sinister Six film that this is leading up to that has been a dream of mine since reading that story arc decades ago!
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
How i thought this movie should have unravelled....
WITHOUT TIME TRAVEL!
1. Thanos does not destroy the gauntlet and Thanos does not die immediately at the beginning.
2. Redeeming the hate for Captain Marvel: I personally like her character. I enjoyed the Captain Marvel movie. That being said they should have brought her in, had character development with the remaining Avengers team, and got to the task of taking on Thanos and reversing what had happened in Infinity War. It could turn out that her power doesn't exceed but matches Thanos' power. Another possibility is that Thanos who finally has all of the Infinity Stones learns of yet more power that the Gauntlet unleashes. So many possibilities really they never even delved into the Gauntlet and what all it could do.
3. That being said they could have tackled it numerous ways without the use of time travel, i will put one scenario out there. With the added power that Captain Marvel brings to the team they could take on Thanos, somehow acquire the Time Stone from the Gauntlet and use that to reverse time. Hell they could even have a huge CGI blowout where time is traveling backwards while they are fighting the mighty Thanos. Time reverses until they get back to the point where Infinity War left off. With all Marvel characters present they could have the biggest battle scene a Marvel movie has had to date. One where they tie up the contract issues with the actors and the ones that have to die could have died during the battle. So many variations they could have gone with and made it a much more edge-of-your-seat ride than what they put out, which was mostly boring, filled with plots holes and left me underwhelmed to say the least. I have no plans to re-watch Endgame in the near future, if at all.
In conclusion i just wrote this in five minutes on a lazy Sunday afternoon after a week of brooding about how bad Endgame was. Marvel had an entire team of hundreds, probably thousands of people to put out a better product than what we got. It was a cop out film and everyone involved should be embarassed that that was the final product after so many years of building this exciting franchise.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Loved it but only one problem...
Not a single L7 song was in this movie.
Other than that ignore the trolls, this movie was great and a perfect setup for the next Avengers movie.
Cloak & Dagger (2018)
*BEWARE OF FAKE REVIEWS*
I'm not sure why this show is being trolled so hard but this is a great show and one of the best Marvel television shows to come out. Excellent character development and a great story. Everyone saying this is "slow" or "boring" are out of their minds. I look forward to watching the season finale this week and if this show gets cancelled because of fake reviews I'm going to be crushed. Get a life people.
