For All Mankind: Bring It Down (2022)
sadly unwatchable
This is such a strange series that can have moments where it is must see tv mixed with cringe worthy story lines. Like so many, I am so creeped out by every scene that Danny is in. Its a disgusting reminder of an affair that never would have happened outside of a Jerry Springer episode. Followed by nepotism in space. Apparently any astronaut's child can go to space. Or be a leading scientific researcher after 2 years on the job. Or maybe even rise from being an illegal immigrant to the lead engineer at NASA. These are some of the most ridiculous plot twists with some of the most reckless "professionals".
I'm cool with entertainment that isn't realistic but this isnt even entertaining. Just hope it gets better.
Lost (2004)
Worth Rewatching
I watched Lost like many people did during the original run. I loved the series back then but the concept was so unique that I felt like the end of the series was a major letdown. But rewatching the series without the delays of a weekly new release or the 4-5 month gap between seasons was so much more enjoyable. I quickly recalled how the show was such a phenomenon and we couldnt wait to see the next episode. Being able to binge watch the series made it much easier to follow the story and not loose details that I probably missed during the original run. Sure, there are holes in the plot but so what? It was more enjoyable the second time around watching the life and death of these characters.
Saltburn (2023)
This movie had moments, but "shocking" meets unnecessary
If you're a film major you probably loved this movie. So much symbolism and it takes unexpected turns. But its "shocking" moments are so odd that ruin what could have otherwise been a good story. I'm sure some of these 10 out 10 ratings will call on the message of mental illness as thought provoking or other flowery symbolism that is unlike the typical hollywood movie. But I would avoid this if you are an average filmgoer. Especially those that just wants to see a movie that is entertaining and unique without leaving you feel like you just watched some screen writers most dismayed plot just to be edgy.
There were a couple truly disgusting scenes of perversion that added no value to the story. Not to mention the holes in the plot. Holes like why would he go through the lengths that he took to infiltrate and take down the family members one by one? Oh, because he loved Felix so much....right. We find out that he set out to befriend Felix from the very start, but why? This would have made more sense if there was an actual motive other than he was unbalanced and just wanted to be loved. Save your time and money.
Fire Country (2022)
Why does Hollywood think we want unrealistic shows like this?
Sadly, I'm done watching this after 4 episodes. Why does Hollywood write the most ridiculous emergency events like this? There is a compelling subplot with the lead character and his past, but that's it. Each episode is a once a decade event that somehow happens in this small town. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that the writers googled stories across the country and can somehow justify the episode they wrote. But having this nonsense happen within days of the last crazy event is just laughable. It's just like the show 911, where they think we're stupid enough to think these are just another day in the life of emergency personnel. To summarize, if you like the series 911, 911 Lone Star or the 87 versions of "Chicago pd, law, med...." Then you'll love this.
Dune (2021)
Great cast, effects and plot worked so much better than the original
Anxiously awaited then release date and it didn't disappoint. Even better in the theater, but the special effects worked great and the cast was perfect. Can't wait to see the sequel.
Turning Red (2022)
Why?
This is what's wrong with movies, execs and studios. Pushing the needle to kids. Kids watch a movie like this and expect a safe space for children. If you want to tell this kind of story stop marketing to younger children using cartoons.
The Bubble (2022)
Silly and not in a good way
There are funny moments but lost interest 15 minutes in. I'm no quitter so I powered through to the end and the story only got worse. Don't waste your time, the trailer is deceiving.
DMZ (2022)
Disappointed in the series and these comments
First of all, I watched all of the episodes and I was really looking forward to this series. The actors are great, but the story is off. To all the people that are highlighting how having an all minority cast is either good or bad I feel sorry for you that you look through the world through that prism. I never even thought twice about that until reading some of these comments. Then I read that people are rating this 10/10 just to offset the right wing haters. I'm disappointed that the script wasn't better but more so I'm disappointed that this series is probably a 10/10 for the reality that we all live in where we just fight with each other for no reason. Grow up people.
Without Remorse (2021)
It had potential but falls flat
I was really looking forward to this but if you've read the book just prepare yourself to be disappointed. Sure there are familiar characters but that's really it. An elaborate storyline for no real reason. The plot is just silly and even the action scenes can't save this. I would have paid to see this at the theaters so I'm at least grateful this was released on Prime. Shame because Michael B Jordan could have had a franchise as John Clark but you lost this Tom Clancy fan with this one.
Midsommar (2019)
Possibly one of the top 5 worst movies I've watched
I'll start with saying this is possibly in my top 5 list of worst movies only because after watching the movie a couple days ago I still don't know what I watched. While I am sure that some will call that statement as thought provoking and exactly what the director wanted. But knowing that I was about to watch a "different" kind of movie really couldn't prepare me for the horrible plot. There is nothing redeeming or even scary about this movie. It's just a matter of trying to be edgy. Reading some of the other reviews I see the accolades for the spotlight on mental health issues and the amazing cinematography and I just have the ask why in the world would anyone want to spend 2 and half hours watching something without a good plot. Clearly this is a different type of movie and most of the time I'd be drawn to movies that buck the standard Hollywood genres. But this movie just leaves me wondering how in the world did this screenplay was greenlite and why I fell into the trap of thinking it might be good.
