Truly a great movie
14 April 2015
American Sniper is one of those films that takes you on a journey through the eyes of a true hero. First off, Bradly Cooper played an amazing role, definitely the best of his career. He bulked up in muscle and just let the role consume him. The overall story was interesting and had a good pace. The directing and cinematography were really done well, the movie looked great and it really drew you in from the beginning. The one thing that I did not like about it was that it didn't tear me apart emotionally like I wanted it to. In the trailers, it looked like this movie was gonna make me cry, but it wasn't as sad as it originally shown in the previews. Other than that, very well made movie.

Nightcrawler (2014)

Best movie of the year.

I just wanna start off by saying that Jake Gyllenhaal absolutely amazes me in this role. You simply cannot look aways from the screen, especially while he is talking. I would not be surprised if he wins the Oscar for best Actor. There are more than a few scenes in this movie that will give you chills. The story was very good as well, very well written movie. The acting from each role was good, but Gyllenhaal stole the show for sure. One thing I have to say about this movie was the cinematography and the lighting. It was AMAZING. For this being Dan Gilroy's first directing job, he killed it.

There were a few things about this movie that were not exactly believable, but that is the beauty of it being a movie. Gyllenhaal's evil grin and manipulative nature in this movie blew me away. Also, he rarely blinks while he is on screen which is interesting. His character development and transformation is great and captivating. Go see Nightcrawler, you will not be disappointed.

Annabelle (I) (2014)
6/10
Didn't blow me away, but a solid movie.

Annabelle is one of those horror movies that has the formula that we are all used to. A lot of jump scares. The acting wasn't great, but I did like the story. It had better cinematography that most horror films. There were a lot of shots that were pleasing to the eye. It is not nearly as good as The Conjuring, but its worth watching. The doll is pretty creepy throughout the film. The one thing that killed it for me is that you did not really feel attached to the characters. I think they could have done way better with the casting. In the end, you didn't really care what happened to them. Overall, Annabelle is not as good as The Conjuring. Wait till you can red box this one.
