High School Musical 2 (2007)
better than the original
i just caught the Australian premiere of high school musical 2 on the Disney channel. and i loved it. where to begin. i loved the new songs especially "all for one" and "gota go my own way". the new dancing routines look really great, and i loved the routine for "fabulous". secondly all the characters are given the chance to grown and become more 3 dimensional especially ryan as he becomes more of his own person and less of sharpay's lap dog. i loved the chemistry between zac and vanessa, as there characters grown and deal with more complex issues such as dealing with the loss of yourself, and moving on from what you know, and the acting from the rest of the cast was great, and ashley plays the villain really well. i had been waiting for this for over a year and now i can't wait till the DVD is released.
Hairspray (2007)
best musical ever
i just saw hairspray with some friends, and we loved it. it is the best musical i've seen in ages. every scene was just bursting with colour and every song was so energetic. my favourite song is the final song "you can't stop the beat". newcomer Nikki bolonsky does a great job as Tracey, and the rest of the cast shine in their respective roles, especially Michelle phiefer and Velma, and zac efron as link was very charismatic, and Amanda bynes can actually sing. i really liked the themes of fitting in and being normal against being your self and accepting that people are all the same and to just accept everyone. so all in all i loved this movie, can't wait for the DVD. all ready got the soundtrack. so go see it asap, if you give it a go you'll love the movie too.
Dreamgirls (2006)
greatest movie i've seen in ages
to start off this movie is great. the start is a little slow. but when it gets going it is a masterpiece. the songs are great and while there is plenty of them they compliment and help tell the story. acting was great, beyonce and jennifer give very strong performances and pretty much carry the movie. the setting of 1950 detroit was a great setting in showing the contrast between the famous and rich to the streets were it is a totally down trodden, while the whole story also shows the attitude's of the 50's were native Americans are treated as lesser beings than white people, in that there music isn't widely released, and the work it took for the dreams to finally get famous. all in all this movie is a great piece of entertainment and the movie will stay with you long after it is finished.
High School Musical (2006)
loved it, absolutely loved it
just bought the DVD, watched on night. loved it and have watched nearly twice a day ever since. this is such a cute, feel good movie. great and catchy songs, and if your wondering i was not paid to say this, i have been recommending it to all my friends and now i will recommend it to you'se as well. i loved it heaps, had to go out and by the soundtrack. i loved it. so a recap...
great talented actors, great songs, deep storyline for a Disney movie, really bright and feel good feeling through out the film, loved every moment of it. i think i might go watch it again now. can't wait for the sequel.
Voodoo Academy (2000)
unexpectedly loved it
firstly, this is a movie that isn't meant to be scary, witty or anything that is meant for any awards, what it is is a simple movie with little plot, poor audio (the voices and there lips moving didn't match up most of the time) but it is meant to be a movie that gives an excuse to guys like me to watch some extremely hot guys, rub them selves in bed. and i loved it. i thought that every part of the movie gave an excuse for a guy to be in his underwear. and I'm not complaining. if the quality was a bit better i would be in heaven. but it ain't bad enough to totally ruin the experience. so what ever people say make up your own mind. i did. and I'm glad i didn't stray away because of what i had read.
House of Wax (2005)
very surprising
i saw this movie home alone.and after reading many reviews about how bad it was. i have to say it surprised me just how good it actually was. the story although mainly similar to many other movies. still works. the gore in the movie wasn't over the top. but enough to make at least me cringe. especially when Carly get's her finger chopped of, ow.. so my advice is to stop believing everything you read. and just watch the movie and make your own mind up about it. everyone has different opinions. so what every anyone says i really loved this movie. and the cast was awesome. the effects good. the story somewhat believe able. and trust Paris to strip to a g-string and dance right be fore her boyfriend is killed. when she should of been helping her best friend who was calling for help.
The Amityville Horror (2005)
i loved it.
i totally loved it. i had read reviews before watching it and it wasn't as scary as what i had heard. not saying i was let down. because it was really enjoyable and a great movie. i don't think the dog being killed was so scary but more sad. and the little girl ghost was really good. i loved the bit with the baby sitter. and just the unexplained stuff that happens. ryan reynolds totally went crazy and it seem so believable, mellisa gorge was great as the mum, and i felt really sorry for her to witness everything that happened. i felt that i wouldn't have been able to cope in her situation, with her family being hurt. but she really pulled it together well. that catch em guy is really weird and i heard he was actually a real person. what added to the movie being creepy is that it's based on a true story. if i didn't know that it would be just another horror movie, but a really good one. so anyone that hasn't seen it do so asap.
