Great Show
1 July 2022
Renews your belief in humanity. These people are so caring... great family show. Heartwarming. Sorry to hear there won't be a season 3. I have enjoyed every episode... what a job to have, must be a joy to go to work every day!

It requires imagination
31 August 2021
I watched the entire first season. Yes it is unbelievable, unrealistic, far fetched, and all the reviews of what a 'blind' person can't do apply. A back story would have helped explain how a virus could wipe out so many and leave others blind in the 21st century with them devolving into almost medieval concepts 500 yrs. Later... After I realized I had to over look the costumes, fashion, jewelry, crown and the worst actress in the entire world as one of the main characters.... Sylvia Hoeks, it was entertaining. Would I watch it again, no. This is sy-fy.so imagination is required to enjoy this. There are many a series I have given up on after pushing through at least 3 episodes, this one took 4. I hate the queen, which I am expected to do as she is the major antagonist. The actress that portrays the queen, does an incredibly horrible job and many scenes of her sexual preoccupations while praying are insulting to everyone who prays, totally unnecessary. I am sure the writer meant to offend. Despite that I gave it an 8 for entertainment, and Mamoa's acting skills have improved. It's NO Game of Thrones, and hopefully will have a decent ending. Usually I withhold my rating until I see the last scenes. I loved GOT, but the ending was disappointing to say the least, many fans were let down with the final outcome after investing so much time. I doubt this will have as many seasons, these writers are already starting to fold.

What a waste of time
30 January 2021
Shame on you Netflix.... most of your originals are pretty good. This one was pathetic. If I hear "I have to get some air" or "I'm sorry" just one more time. Really, just trying to fill in dialogue... extremely Poor writing, pitiful acting, it really is a waste of time to watch this... why oh why?

Bravo Netflix for this Amazing series

Warning: Spoilers
Best ever series.... slow start but after episode two, I was hooked. I have watched this entire series twice and am on my third viewing. Compelling story, great scenery, and superb acting by ALL. More seasons with Uhtred of Bebbanburg finally getting his rightful inheritance would be fantastic. I am sure everyone who has watched this has appreciated the terrific costumes... NOT all clean and tidy, but exactly how you would imagine. The same with the characters, NOT all beautiful perfect bodies, but realistically effective in every way. This series is as enticing as Game of Thrones and Uhtred is as appealing as the character of John Snow. World class tv series by anyone's standards. Kudos Netflix.

I so wanted to like this...
23 December 2019
This was a real let down. I wanted so to like it, the first 45 minutes looked so promising. The ghosts were unconvincing... they had little affect on Scrooge and his minimal change, little to no redemption, missing the entire moral teaching Dickens so beautifully penned. Charles Dickens story is barely recognizable in this adaptation. Mary Cratchet seems to have the power to summon spirits and calls them down upon Scrooge leaving us with a bad taste in a not so memorable ending.... Oh well, I will let you make up your own mind as I was very disappointed, it could have been so much better.

The Bookshop (2017)

I enjoyed this movie thoroughly.
23 May 2018
I have never bothered to write a review before so here it is. A young widow of 16 years pursues her dream of owning and operating a bookshop in a fictional village, Hardbourough, Suffolk, UK.. She, Mrs. Green, is a woman of integrity, (Emily Mortimer). We come to know her by how she treats others and the developing relationships she has in this new town of hers. The young people of the story, Christine, the young local girl working in the bookshop, even though she doesn't like to read. The young boy, Wally, running errands and delivering correspondence from Florence to Mr. Brundish (Bill Nighy). They come to admire Florence Green, seeing her courage as she goes against the wishes of the local socialite, Violet Gamart. (Patricia Clarkson) . Violet is a nasty piece of work invoking a deep disdain in ones emotions. The story is full of examples of strength of the human spirit and how good eventually overcomes wickedness in unpredictable ways. The last scenes make the entire film worth watching,(a tad slow I'll admit) , until you get there and unexpectedly see how this charming story delightfully ends.
