Hey man where's Dave?
10 December 2023
Dave's not here man...

Well it's a movie, a Canadian road adventure movie. Not too sure what else I could say about this movie to to use up all my IMDB characters for a full review.

First off I put it on to see some early film work from SCTV alum Dave Thomas but no matter how hard I looked I couldn't see him in any shot.

We have 3 main leads with 5 other supporting actors, 1-store clerk, 1-accident victim, and 3 native Canadians. I don't even think there was any animals to help bring to life the backgrounds.

It's mainly shot on logging roads, starts with a river shot, a shot on the highway, a sceen in a general store, then back on the road. We get to see inside a home for a bit then we end off at a little shack adjesent to a mine. Really seems like they were all the free spots to film that wouldn't cost them any money or more likely where Canada told them they could film.

But really, where's Dave man??

I was hoping for at least a decent size role which would have made it maybe funny.

What?

Warning: Spoilers
No one should have to seach the internet for the meaning of the movie you watched.

I got a father daughter trip, and flashes of gay relationships.

Either the girls father sends a post card from their trip to his daughter saying sorry she found out that he was gay or the worst case that he took his life because he was ashamed he was gay. Which would be horrifying for the girl her dad using that postcard to say goodbye.

The acting was good and the story was a slice of life but that was it.

Also the daughter got a wristband for the resort but I have no idea where that story line even went as with a lot of the story lines.

I don't get why people make these vauge stories other than to look like you are a deep writer. The writer is just like me trying to come up with 600 words just to post my thoughts and feelings to a movie. It's hard when I'm so use to writing posts on Twitter where I have to trim everything down to make my point. Although on here I have to write an essay on a movie that it pretty much about a father and daughts trip with stobelight flashes of people danceing.

Writers needed to see how a kitchen is run.
3 April 2023
This was written by people that hear stories but never have seen the action in person in a real resturant kitchen. They at least got the small portions looking right.

Having Cooper's charater accepting plastic boiled food is a laugh and a half as some girl transforms his kitchen into a potential 3 star is so stupid. Let alone he acts like a regular sue chef and not the the guy running the kitchen.

Chef (2014) is a better watch if you like cooking movie/shows, it's got a Revenge of the Nerds vibe kinda. I'd rather watch these type of movies than any of the cooking shows on TV. Too bad they are few and far between.

Good but...

Warning: Spoilers
This movie had it's moments maybe even quicker. I wanted to enjoy this movie but the cuts the director made made it hard to follow. They would talk about 2 simular things then flash on screen what they were meaning causing me to rewind and pause on a shot to figure out what they were trying to get across. Maybe it's for the people that know the story already so they know what's going on. I didn't know it so what I got out of it was her grandmother cursed her and her husband before their trek and causing the husband to die along with his unborn child. If you like the survival movies it's still worth a watch but "The Road" would be more interesting to sit through.

Run away from this movie.

Warning: Spoilers
Straight up...

Dad runs away from the snow, fine, just say he was making sure he wasn't trapped with the rest of his family so he would be free to dig them out if need be. Maybe movies like this happen when you have blackmail info on your actors.

A movie for a movies' sake
10 September 2020
I love my road movies, but this one had absolutely nothing in that category to make it interesting. Sadly I watch "The Dead Don't Die" right before this and wasted over 3 hours of pointless bantering as it's the exact movie in a different genre. I miss the days of good writers, I'm not sure if these movies are actors attempt at writing their roles separately, but theses movies are unnecessary as they will only be watched once in their existence. These movies are not fit for TV, special editions, remakes, reboots or re-watches. If Bill is so picky of the movies he does I'd love to know why he decided on this one. HEY! Bill Murray, I got a perfect script for you, give me a shout :)

Thi is my first review ever.

I can't believe how well written this show was, or maybe my expectations were low going into watching it. In the world of reboots every other show making a comeback needs to take a look at this or hire those writers. It was perfectly balanced with drama and humor and characters. Too bad it wasn't out before the Star Wars reboot maybe they could of learned a few things on making a great show.
