"Azalia", An unexpected Arturo De Cordova's love in a wild selvaged place...
27 March 2007
This interesting film was filmed in 1947. The same year, that Arturo De Cordova filmed a great production called: "La Diosa Arrodillada" with Maria Felix too. The reason for what I'm reminding this film it's because against "La Diosa...", "Algo Flota Sobre el Agua" shows the kind of films where Arturo always interpreted the starring rolls between wild selvaged landscapes: Veracruz is the scenery in this picture, where Manuel (Arturo De Cordova) married with Carmina; fell in love with a precious young girl called "Azalia" (Elsa Aguirre), who intended suicide in the river near Manuel's house... The play roll shows the regular problems and circumstances of a group of fishers that tried to make an independent living without the rules of the owner. The film has an approximated running time of 120 minutes. Maybe too long for that decade... Good Luck!

A Superb Film with an Unexpected End!...
6 December 2005
An interesting film with an unexpected end... Contains, love scenes, drama, mystery and a great story that covers a wide spectrum of psychological performances, inside scenes full of emotion with Jorge (Arturo De Córdova) that fell in love with Mónica (Rosita Quintana), passion developed in front of their jealousy antagonist, Magdalena (María Douglas). Again, a superb performance of Arturo De Córdova with extended and extraordinary dialogues that shows really a contemporary gentleman inside intelligent love relationships that nowadays, one can hardly find. It's a worthwhile film, a must for the Arturo De Córdova's fan!...Highly recommended... Good Luck!

A Great Romantic Film!...
27 November 2005
This film tells a story about a rookie writer Marcos Villarreal (Arturo De Córdova), who made a novel called Minú that became a successful book seller. Accidentally, this gave name to the daughter of Vidal, friend and editor of Marcos.

After some years, with the unexpected passed away of Vidal and his wife, Marcos became the tutor of Minú (Irasema Dilian) that came down to México to live in the Marcos' house. Soon by living together, they begin a passionate flirting, dramatic, and sometimes hilarious romance between them and the jealousy of Bárbara (María Douglas), that ended in an unexpected but good, romantic way for Minú and Marcos...Good Luck!

Maybe artistic, but too sordid!...
27 November 2005
This film was directed by the famous Luis Buñuel, recognized Spanish film maker that came to México and created a great bunch of surrealistic films (some too sordid for that decade). The truth is, that maybe this picture is good, but too negative for the people that like the great flirting romantic image of Arturo de Córdova: An icon for the following contemporary romantic gentlemen of the "Mexican Golden Age".

This film deals with the inner side of a man that let us see his jealous feelings and a sickness love between the central actor Arturo de Córdova and his co protagonist Delia Garces; taking them to a violent relationship that ended in a tragedy...

Really A Romantic Story of Love!...
27 November 2005
This romantic film, is really an academic principle in teaching the real meaning of love... flourished inside the heart of a beautiful woman called María (Marga Lopez, recently passed away), that with gracefulness carry her hopeless sadly love hoping that her beloved gentleman, the violinist Ricardo Caso (Arturo De Córdova), could remember the only night where both found themselves trapped in a revealing night of love... In the end, both ways collide again as the last opportunity to stay together but... One can understand that the life gives just one chance to be completely happy (maybe two times), but the selfish human being pass blindly through the life and refuse to take what most of the times is in front of him...So, How are you going to pass the rest of your life?...Good Luck!
