Abraham Ozler (2024)
Complex story lost in confusig in direction.
The story of Ozler possesses all the elements to craft a compelling crime thriller. It diverges sufficiently from the typical serial killer narrative, warranting its place in the genre.
However, Ozler falters in two crucial aspects - the script and direction. The script comes across as overly dramatic, resembling a first draft and extending far beyond necessity. Some scenes suffer from excessive character explanations, contributing to a sense of verbosity. Combined with the afformentioned confusing direction makes the movie feel long and tiring. The only saving grace is the presence of a star-powered antihero, preventing a more substantial decline in the movie's appeal.
Personally, I believe there is more potential for exploration in the portrayal of the antihero. Despite attempting to portray the antagonist's actions as a form of revenge, the movie falls short in exploring the moral dilemma presented. The antagonist's actions, while seemingly heroic, involve the loss of multiple innocent lives. Addressing this moral complexity could have added a layer of depth to the narrative.
Some other observations include: The extras are seen ready to react well before the actual situation unfolds. This premature readiness and the group reaction detracted from the natural flow of the scene. For instance, when one victim faints in the middle of the restaurant, the entire restaurant rushes towards the person without any hesitation. While this would be ideal, in such a public situation, it overlooks the bystander effect that would most likely come into play here. The same thing was noticed in the hospital as well.
Overall, I exited the movie with the feeling that it was worth watching, but simultaneously, I couldn't shake the sense that it could have been significantly better.
The Beekeeper (2024)
Statham is Stathaming
Yet another action movie. A mysterious agent comes back from retirement for one last mission, and this time it's personal. Only, the central issue this time is an online scam.
Apart from a couple of creative action sequences, the whole movie is a cliche and at time down right boring. I seldom find myself yawning while watching a movie let alone dozing off. This movie almost made that happen.
Online scam is a pressing issue that is mercilessly ruining lives. The movie does little to advocate its perils. The movie quickly moves away and becomes a flat revenge story.
What bugged me the most is that, every charecters apart from Statham's felt like they were there to just say the poorly written lines.
It is one of those movies you can switch off the brain and just see it for hits and blasts. It did get tiring for that at times.
Only Murders in the Building (2021)
Don't checkout the music playlist before watching the series.
I have been a follower of the series since day one. From that very first day I knew this would be one of the best series I have seen. The music, the cast and the supporting supporting
cast and every single piece of detail in the series carefully crafted master pieces.
This review is written at the resale of S3 E8. And I am beyond happy to see the points so seamless connecting, to see that as in any great piece of artwork no detail is unintentionally.
With every season, Only murders in the building have gifted an amazing playlist of music, and it is a delight to see that carried on with the latest season as well. The "Into the Light" song feels like just a wonderful warm hug and it hits even deeper after E8.
Update after E10. The ending was too predictable. Not because I solved it myself, we'll I kind of did. The ending was given away in the Only Murders in the Building music album. The last song was an "it was an accident mom" since they were already doubtim.
Ramachandra Boss & Co (2023)
Most brilliant heist movie till date.
In the end it was truly a brilliant heist. They managed to release a trash of a movie at Onam and steal crores from malayali moviegoers who were just hoping to enjoy their vacation and few days out of their hectic lives.
There is absolutely no aspect of the movie that can be called anywhere close to average. A subpar script is further weighed down by terrible direction and acting.
The absolute worst part of Boss and Co is the "Villian" or more accurately a string of awkward screams ans cringy dialogues disguised as a character. Almost made me appreciate the movie for the roundhouse kick that ended him.
I haven't seen a more pointless and unnecessary movie in recent years. I thought Nivin Pauly couldn't deliver bigger dud than Saturday Night. I stand corrected.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
The most perfect knot .
There is nothing more one can ask for. No need for hesitating even for a second about spending any amount of money for this movie.
