The Godfather: Overrated Not a Masterpiece
18 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In my personal view, "The Godfather" is an overrated film. Yes I am among the minority who did not like the film. This just did not connect with me.

The acting performances of Marlon Brando and Al Pacino were very good, that sort of impressed me. I did not like the script. There are lot of sequences which I felt was irrelevant to the storyline. The pacing was slow, which some might argue as artful but for me it was slow like a snail. Felt storytelling to be somewhat OK. The background score by Nino Rota managed to impress me. The Dialogues were well written which somewhat came as a relief for me.

For me, "The Godfather" was a mixed bag where acting performances, background score, and dialogues impressed me. But dissatisfied with the script, screenplay, narrative, pacing, and storytelling. For me this is not a masterpiece film rather I would argue it as a film of missed oppurtunities where brilliance existed in isolated pockets but failed to engage me. I would rate this a 4 out of 10, and declare it as a below average

Rating: 4/10 Verdict: Below Average.

Jailer: Glimpses of Brilliance But Marred by Inconsistencies
17 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In my personal view, "Jailer" is a good film for director Nelson's standards, but an average film for Rajinikanth's standards. I felt the film to be a mixed bag, there were exceptional performances but the pacing, narrative, storytelling, and screenplay needed some improvements.

Rajinikanth was impressive, and the cameos from Shivarajkumar and Mohan Lal was the real highlight. Shivarajkumar portraying the character of Narasimha was outstanding. His screen presence struck a chord with me. Vinayakan shined as an antagonist.

The script is brilliant, and it grabbed my attention from the first scene until the interval. The narrative, pacing, and the storytelling was good in the first half, but then again there were uneccesary comedy sequences featuring Sunil in the second half, which disrupted the flow of the narrative. Actually there were comedy sequences featuring Yogi Babu in the first half, which I felt it as irritating but they did not disrupt the flow of the narrative. Also the pacing in the second half became slow. The music has some songs which are good, but some songs were not required, although Anirudh's background score is good enough to create massy vibes within me. Keeping the Pan Indian concept in mind, there were dialogues in all four South Indian languages, and Hindi, which was written well, making characters memorable. But Ramya Krishnan who portrays Rajinikanth's wife character felt to be underdeveloped and shallow.

"Jailer" left me in a state of ambivalence. There were glimpses of brilliance, but the inconsistencies in the pacing, narrative, and screenplay prevented it from reaching its full potential. It was, in my personal view, an above average offering but a good attempt for Nelson, however the film failed to leave a lasting impression on me.

Rating: 6/10 Verdict: Above Average.

The Mechanic: Utterly Disappointing
16 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In my personal view, "The Mechanic" was a disappointing film that failed to live up to it's potential. From the very beginning it is apparent that the movie even struggles with fundamental aspects which are crucial for an engaging storytelling.

The biggest issue in the film was a lack of character development. I felt both Charles Bronson and Michael Vincent's characters as shallow and underdeveloped. It was challenging for me to connect with their journeys. The lack of compelling characters made it difficult for me to follow the story. In fact I was detached from the events that were unfolding.

I felt the storyline to be highly predictable and uninspiring, with no surprises or twists. The inconsistent pacing and the lack of momentum makes it an unengaging watch.

Charles Bronson, a talented actor in his own right, did his best with the material that was provided, but even his performance is not enough to save this film from its flaws. Jan-Michael-Vincent, despite his potential was largely wasted in a character that was poorly written, which becomes an another addition to the disappointment.

"The Mechanic" left me thoroughly dissatisfied and unimpressed. Its flaws gave me a headache. Regrettably, I can only give it a rating of 1 out of 10., marking it as a film that, in my personal view, failed to deliver.

Rating: 1/10 Verdict: Trash.

Shankar Guru: A Timeless Classic
14 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In my personal view, "Shankar Guru" is one of the masterpiece film that I hold in high regards. It is one of my favourite movies of All-Time. This film, a brilliant mosaic of storytelling and exceptional performances, has etched itself into my memory with an indelible mark.

At its core is the unparalleled talent of Dr. Rajkumar, whose portrayal of three characters- Rajashekar, Shankar and Guru is awe-inspiring. Felt he breathed life into those three characters which struck a chord with me. T. N. Balakrishna's performance as Guru's foster father was outstanding, and Vajramuni and Thoogudeepa Srinivas shined in negative roles, adding magic and charm to the storyline.

The script, written by M. D. Sundar, is brilliant, and it grabbed my attention from the very first scene, and held it until the climax. This shows the richness in the narrative, pacing, and the storytelling. V. Somashekar's direction was skillfull capturing the essence of the narrative. The music has excellent songs and background score by Upendra Kumar resonated with me. The dialogues, written by Chi Udayshankar, added depth to the narrative, making each and every character memorable for me.

For me, "Shankar Guru" is a cinematic gem that deserves the highest accolodes. I rate it a perfect 10 out of 10, and declare it as a masterpiece.

Rating: 10/10 Verdict: Masterpiece.

Utterly Intolerable
13 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I just can't believe that a film like "Hostel Hudugaru Bekagidare" was praised by film enthusiasts. I had planned to watch it in the theater, but somehow due to my work schedule, I could not. When it released on OTT, I started watching it. After 10 mins I was regretting, but somehow with great difficulty I watched 40 minutes. Then I could not take it anymore so I left watching it. Please don't go with the ratings and reviews. I don't know how people even accepted this film maybe because people got some refreshment after watching a huge number of Gangster movies. Kannada Cinema is not doing sensible movies like it was in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. This is a trash in every department right from script to acting performances. Please skip this, instead watch old Kannada classics or some other good film from other languages like English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam etc.

Rating: 0/10 Verdict: Cannot Tolerate.

Vaali: Worth Watching for Sudeep's performance
12 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Vaali" is an important film in Sudeep's career, where he shines in double role playing the characters of Deva, who is deaf and mute and his younger brother Shiva, showing the audience about his acting capabilities.

The film was remade from the 1999 Tamil film of the same name, hence the script does not change, and it is very good. The film excels in narration and storytelling which would keep the audience engaged. The flow of events are continious illustrating the excellent screenplay.

However, the film does have its own share of negatives like the songs are directly copied from the original Tamil version due to which there is no originality, which has dampened the musical appeal of the film. Additionally, the background scrore by Rajesh Ramanath fails to create any impact among the audience as it its pretty poor, and the dialogues are mediocre in comparison to the film's other strengths.

Sudeep's exceptional performance along with compelling narrative and strong screenplay, elavates the film. Despite its flaws in music and dialogues, it's a good watch for any Kannada film enthusiast.

Rating: 7/10 Verdict: Good.

Respectful Tribute to Gowri: A Masterpiece
12 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Gowri" is a gem of a film, from outstanding performances to a compelling narrative, this film transcends ordinary boundaries and emerges as a timeless classic! Achieving a perfect rating of 10 out of 10. Dr. Rajkumar delivers an outstanding performance, breathing life into the character of Ramaiah, and his brilliance in acting cannot be matched by anyone. K. S. Ashwath and the actress, Sandhya have also delivered excellent acting performances, adding depth to the narrative.

The film was remade from the 1952 Telugu movie "Daasi" but modifications were made in the script, and it was done brilliantly. Excellent narration and storytelling ensures that the audience are captivated from the 1st scene itself. The flow of events and emotions illustrates a brilliant screenplay.

The songs are excellent, with exceptional background score by G. K. Venkatesh. Even the dialogues are outstanding adding further charm to the film.

"Gowri" has philosophical themes like doubts and anger can ruin a person's life and it is a film which leaves an enduring impression on the audience. No doubt "Gowri" is a masterpiece which deserves the highest accolades.

Rating: 10/10 Verdict: Masterpiece.

Make Up: A Hilarious Journey Marred by Risks and Rhythms
12 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Makeup" is a comedy film that tickles the audience's funny bone with Jaggesh's signature humor. His character is inspired from Kamal Haasan's Avvai Shanmughi, but with his comic timing and mannerisms which adds tremendous value to the film making the audience laugh. Jaggesh fans are bound to enjoy this.

The script of "Makeup" is well-structured, and the narrative unfolds smoothly, giving audience the required time to follow the story. The narration and storytelling is engaging, where the director, Singeetam Srinivasa Rao keeps the audience engrossed by ensuring that comic timing and punchlines land effectively. While the overall screenplay is commendable which contributes to the overall entertainment factor. Inspite of the film succesfully delivering on its promise of laughter and entertainment, it does have a few negatives as well. There are some moments where the sequences are bordering on the risque side. These moments might have been intended for humor, while it off-putting especially for family audiences.

There is not even one song in the film which is catchy. They totally lack that appeal, and also the background score by John is mediocre. Although dialogues are good, which brings some respite to the film.

"Makeup" is a success in delivering laughter and entertainment, it is mainly because of Jaggesh's comic brilliance and the film's engaging narrative. Inspite of the film doing well on comedy, it's humor occasionally crosses boundary, and the pathetic musical aspect, both in terms of songs and background score may make it tiresome. If you are a Jaggesh fan who can overlook the film's negatives in taste and music, it offers a fun-filled ride into the world of humor.

Rating: 7/10 Verdict: Good.

Naga Pooje: A Captivating Tale of Brilliance and Flaws
12 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Naga Pooje" earns its rightful place as a film which has a narrative that is captivating. Dr. Rajkumar is the heart and soul of the film who delivers an outstanding performance, breathing life into his character with the brilliance that is unmatched by none. It is undoubtedly Dr. Rajkumar who adds depth and authenticity to the story.

The tale is beautifully written, due to which the audience will find the narrative to be engaging. Good execution of the screenplay and storytelling will make the audience to watch the whole film without any difficulty.

All the songs are excellent with very good background score by T. G. Lingappa, along with excellent dialogues adds more charm to the film.

Inspite of being an outstanding film, there is one minor drawback, which is the limited screen time for Dr. Rajkumar in the 2nd Half. The script itself is such that the protagonist has very less screen time in the 2nd half, hence it's a minor flaw, but it is this minor flaw which obstructs the overall impact the film could have. The audience won't accept lesser screen time being allocated to Dr. Rajkumar, due to which this film might come as a disappointment to his cult fans or even the general audience.

Inspite of the flaw mentioned above, there is no doubt that this is an outstanding film due to excellent script, outstanding acting, exceptional screenplay and storytelling, along with excellent music makes "Naga Pooje" earn a rating of 9/10, and it is a must-watch for Kannada cinephiles.

Rating: 9/10 Verdict: Outstanding.

Romeo: A Whimsical Romance Hindered by Unrealistic Character Development and Uneven Direction
5 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Romeo" is an Above Average but an Enjoyable Film. Ganesh, a poor man, falls in love with Shruti, a rich girl. In order to marry her, he resorts to lies and pretends to belong to an affluent family, which complicates his relationship with Shruti.

Ganesh and Bhavana along with Rangayana Raghu and Sudha Belawadi have given very good performances. While Sadhu Kokila is wasted, and Avinash is too noisy in this Film. Bhavana playing the character of Shruti believes the lies told by Ganesh (Ganesh) which is an example of unrealistic character development, when Ganesh (Ganesh) tells lies which is so obvious to make out. Due to this flaw, audience may find this Film to be wierd.

Script is fine, and P. C. Shekhar's Screenplay is engaging despite the fact that Film looks wierd due to flaws in character development. The narration is brisk due to which audience will watch the movie until the end.

P. C. Shekhar's Direction is not up to the mark, as lot of unecessary scenes spoils the narrative. Despite the narration being brisk, it is not well crafted. Music, composed by Arjun Janya features some good songs, but some songs are bad as well. Due to the flaws mentioned, "Romeo" is an Above Average Film, and the audience can watch it once.

My Rating: 6/10 Verdict: Above Average.

Baanadariyalli: Ganesh Shines in a Heartwarming Tale of Love and Legacy
1 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Baanadariyalli" is an Outstanding Film. This is one of the Best Films in Ganesh's career. The film's plot revolves around Leela who grows up caring for the animals and the environment. Her father is everything for her but their bonding is disturbed when Siddharth falls in love with Leela.

Ganesh has given an extraordinary performance as Siddharth. While assessing SSE, I had assessed that Rukmini Vasanth has got a great future, and she proves it in this Film by giving a spectacular performance as Leela. Rangayana Raghu who is one of the finest actors has also given an outstanding performance as Leela's father. The characters of Ganesh, Rukmini Vasanth and Rangayana Raghu have been developed quite well, while the character of the second heroine Reeshma Nanaiah is slightly irritating.

Newspaper and YouTube Critiques are criticizing the Script as routine, but actually it is nice. The reason they felt it as routine was because of the predictable Screenplay. Screenplay is predictable yet engaging enough to ensure the involvement of the audience. Narrative is not as slow as hyped by critiques. They might have felt it as a slow movie because of the predictable Screenplay.

Preetham Gubbi could have handled it better in terms of direction as few uneccesary scenes disrupt the flow of the narration. Cinematography is Outstanding especially in the 2nd Half where visuals of Kenya's Maasai Maara National Reserve have come out really well.

Music, composed by Arjun Janya features good songs. The song "Baanadariyalli" from the 1981 Kannada Film "Bhagyavantha" has been used well. Overall this Film is a very good entertainer to be watched with family.

My Rating: 9/10 Verdict: Outstanding.

Rambo: Sharan's Debut as a Hero Triumphs in this Entertaining Caper
30 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Rambo" is a very Enjoyable Film. This Film marked Sharan's debut in a lead role after appearing as a comedian for 13 years in Kannada Cinema. The film's plot revolves around car brokers Kitty and Premkumar who come across a vehicle that contains a corpse. Soon, they learn that the body has a pen drive that holds information about a terrorist plot.

The performances of Sharan and Rangayana Raghu is great, while the veteran Umashree, who plays the role of Sharan's mother in this Film has nothing to offer, and is wasted. Naveen Krishna, who plays a cameo towards the end is effective. M S Srinath's Screenplay is engaging, but adult one-liner cheap comedy effects the flow of the narrative.

Music, composed by Arjun Janya features very good songs, which enhances the value of the Film. Overall "Rambo" is a very good entertainer.

My Rating: 8/10 Verdict: Very Good.

Sodari: A Tale of Devotion and Betrayal with Dr. Rajkumar Shining Despite Character Limitations C
30 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Sodari" is an Outstanding Film. This marks the first collaboration between Dr. Rajkumar and the director, TV Singh Takur. The film's plot revolves around Hemavati, who is the devoted wife of King Kailasanatha, is burdened with misfortunes when a drought strikes and Kailasantha has to forgo his kingdom.

This Film is female-oriented, hence Dr. Rajkumar's character has not been developed properly, however Dr. Rajkumar delivers an outstanding performance, and breathes life into the character which is unparalleled.

Narasimharaju is outstanding, and Jayashree is excellent as an antagonist. The Script is based on GV Iyer's stage play Anna Thangi which was based on the popular legend of Nalla Thangal that was adopted in the 1950 famous Malayalam movie, "Nalla Thanka". The narrative is nicely crafted. Hunsur Krishnamurthy's Screenplay keeps the story engaging, and the brisk narration pace makes the audience involved.

The director, TV Singh Takur shows his caliber in storytelling. The cinematography and editing are also very good.

The music, composed by Padmanabha Shasthri features some excellent songs, which adds value to the film. Since Dr. Rajkumar's character has not been developed properly, this Film might not go well with the fans of the great Legendary actor. As a fan of Dr. Rajkumar myself, I am disappointed with this Film for the same reason. For others it might be a one-time watch.

My Rating: 8/10 Verdict: Very Good.

Navagraha: Darshan's Dark Triumph Shines in this Riveting Heist Drama
29 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Navagraha" is the Greatest Film in Darshan's career. The film's plot revolves around a group of thieves who plot to steal the Golden 'Ambaari' from the Mysore Palace. However, their plan begins to crumble when a police officer discovers their ploy.

Darshan shines in negative role, and audience will remember Thoogudeepa Srinivas, Darshan's father, who was popular playing negative roles. The sons of famous veterans of the past also play negative role, and their performance is also very good. Darshan's character does not show Heroism in this Film which might not go well with some Darshan fans who expect his hands and legs to do the talking like he does in most of his Films, but Darshan makes it up with his performance. This actually not a negative point. I mentioned this only because fans should re-evaluate their critique in this regard.

The Script of this Film is based on Vishnuvardhan's 1981 Kannada Film, "Maha Prachandaru", which itself was based on the novel "Vigraha Choraru" by Vijay Sasanur. Dinakar Thoogudeepa's Screenplay was much better than the Vishnuvardhan Film in the sense that story is more engaging in this Film, and narration pace is brisk.

Dinakar Thoogudeepa's Direction is very good. The music, composed by V. Harikrishna features some good songs, enhancing the value to the Film. "Navagraha" conveys the message that one should not steal anything related to the Divine. This is surely a must-watch.

My Rating: 9/10 Verdict: Outstanding.

Bedara Kannappa: A Cinematic Masterpiece and Dr. Rajkumar's Stellar Debut
29 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Bedara Kannappa" is one of the Greatest Film in the history of Kannada Cinema. This was the first Film of Dr. Rajkumar, which marked the beginning of an era. The film's plot revolves around Kannappa, a hunter who is extremely devoted to Lord Shiva.

Dr. Rajkumar has delivered an outstanding performance as Kannappa, and in his First Film itself he has breathed life into the character, which very few in the History of Cinema has done.

Even Narasimharaju's acting is amazing, demonstrating his skills as a comedian. Interestingly "Bedara Kannappa" was not just the First Film of Dr. Rajkumar, it was also the First Film of Narasimharaju. GV Iyer shines in the role of an antagonist. Actually the entire cast deserve accolades for their stellar performances, making every character memorable. Also one more thing that needs to be mentioned is all the characters have been developed quite well.

The Script is based on the Folklore of Kannappa. The narrative is beautiful, and GV Iyer, who made his debut as Screenplay Writer has done a very good job, and his Screenplay keeps the story engaging, and the brisk narration pace ensures the involvment of the audience.

HLN Simha's Direction is excellent. Cinematography is outstanding, and even the editing has been done quite brilliantly.

The music, composed by R. Sudharsanam features amazing songs, out of which Shivappa Kayo Thande stands out.

"Bedara Kannappa" is a Cinematic treasure, and a masterpiece.

My Rating: 10/10 Verdict: Masterpiece.

Hilarious Hijinks and Heartfelt Performances: My Boss delivers a Laugh Riot Worth Watching
29 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"My Boss" is a very good Film. The film's plot revolves around Priya who asks her assistant, Manu, to pretend to be her fiance to secure a promotion. Already frustrated with her cruel treatment, Manu accepts the offer to take revenge in his own humorous way.

Dilip and Mamta have managed to deliver what was expected from them. All the characters have been developed quite well. Script is nice, and it is Jeethu Joseph's Screenplay keeps the story engaging, and brisk narration pace ensures the involment of the audience. It is comedy which is the real highlight of the Film, and the entire cast deserves accolodes.

Jeethu Joseph's direction skills is clearly visible throughout the films, and the editing is also very good. Music, composed by Sejo John and M. Jayachandran features good songs, which enhances the beauty of the Film. Overall it's a must watch film.

Average Attempt in Unfamiliar Territory: Naan Yen Pirandhen falls short of MGR's Legacy
29 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Naan Yen Pirandhen" is not a good Film for MGR standards. The film's plot revolves around Kannan, a married man who works under a rich businessman, Sundaram, while pretending to be a bachelor. Trouble ensues when Sundaram's daughter falls in love with him.

This is the only Film which features MGR in a family-oriented role, which does not suit his style of acting and image. Shivaji Ganeshan would have been a better choice to play the role of Kannan. Inspite of MGR not being an ideal choice, he has given his best, which is enhanced by good performances from KR Vijaya and MN Nambiar. M Krishnan's Screenplay keeps the story engaging at places, but there are lags, which affects the narration pace. The Cinematography and editing is very good.

The music, composed by Shankar-Ganesh features some good songs, which adds some value to the film. Overall a watchable Film, but not good enough for MGR's standards.

My Rating: 5/10 Verdict: Average.

Jawan: Shah Rukh Khan's Triumph in a Riveting Action Drama
25 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Jawan" is by far the Greatest Film in Shah Rukh Khan's career. The film's plot revolves around a man who is driven by a personal vendetta to rectify the wrongs in a society, while keeping a promise which was made years ago. He comes up against a monstrous outlaw who has no fear, and has caused extreme suffering to many.

Shah Rukh Khan's performance as Vikram Rathore and Azad is worth a mention, while Nayanthara has also given a good performance. She wasn't sidelined, and audience can see the Lady Superstar.

The Script is good, and the Screenplay is somewhat like that of a Tamil Cinema rather than Hindi. Engaging Screenplay, and brisk narration pace will keep the audience involved. Although the Screenplay is engaging, there are some sequences that goes beyond any logic. But in the context of movies, it can be forgiven.

The music, composed by Anirudh Ravichander is not as good as the ones he composed in his Tamil Films like Vikram. This is the only true minus point of this Film. "Jawan" is a thorough entertainer that should not be missed.

My Rating: 9/10 Verdict: Outstanding.

Sapta Sagaradache Ello: A Painfully Slow and Disappointing Film of 2023
24 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Please don't watch "Sapta Sagaradache Ello: Side A" by looking at the reviews and box office collection, this is just a hype, and this is one of the worst films of 2023.

To begin with, the movie is so slow from the first scene itself, that the audience should contemplate regarding why did they even come to watch this Film. Until the climax, the movie remains slow like a turtle. Only in the Climax there is some engagement so that the audience will come to watch Side B or the Second Part of the Film. The plot revolves around Manu who is in love with Priya, and in order to buy a house near the beach to stay happily with his lover, Manu takes the car accident blame, which was done by the brother-in-law of his employer hence he lands up in jail. The employer tells Manu that he will bail him out, but then there is a twist in the tale as Manu's employer dies from heart-attack. The employer's wife does not keep up the promise, hence Manu has to remain in jail. The entire second half is about the desperation. It is such a drag, drag, and a drag. The 30 minutes script dragged into a 2 hour 27 minutes movie. Normally I just tell the theme of a Film while reviewing it, but this one is so slow and bad that I revealed the entire plot. There is nothing with regards to the Script, and the Screenplay. It is lifted from the Shawshank Redemption, Prison Break Series, and even from Shankar Nag's Films like Accident.

Hemant Rao has kept the same slow pace throughout the Film. I am currently 24 years, and I am watching movies from past 20 years, and for the first time in my movie watching experience, I reacted "finally the movie got over". The heroine played by Rukmini Vasanth is a newcomer, and she has done really well. I won't be surprised if she becomes a leading heroine in Kannada Cinema in another five years. She has a bright future ahead. Rakshit Shetty has comparatively improved his acting over the years. The seniors like Avinash and Sharath Lohitashwa were quite impressive. Overall, please skip this movie.

My Rating: 1/10 Verdict: Trash.

Once More: A heartfelt Tamil Gem from 1997
24 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Once More is one of the Greatest Tamil Film that was released in 1997. The film's plot revolves around Vijay, a careless man who gets Selvam, a senior home inmate, to act as his father for an important business deal. Soon after they started the charade, they start helping each other.

Sivaji Ganesan's performance as Selvam is remarkable. Even B. Saroja Devi is very good. While as an actor, Vijay is quite not in the same league as Sivaji Ganesan, and he was indeed very lucky to share screen space with Ganesan.

The Script of "Once More" is very nice. In terms of Screenplay, at places it fails to keep the story engaging. But overall the brisk narration pace ensures that its a good narrative.

SA Chandrasekhar's Direction is good, showing that he is good at cinematic storytelling. Cinematography is satisfactory, and editing is good.

The music, composed by Deva is very good, and it adds another layer to the beauty of the film.

If the Screenplay of "Once More" was a little more interesting, it could have been a masterpiece, nonetheless it is a very good family entertainer.

My Rating: 8/10 Verdict: Very Good.

Ramarajyadalli Rakshasaru: A Vigilante Film that falls short
23 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Ramarajyadalli Rakshasaru" is one of the Worst films that was released in 1990. The film's plot revolves around Surya, a newspaper editor who exposes the scam of a corrupt contracter who later gets arrested by Surya's brother, Chandra. The corrupt contracter seeks revenge against them.

The performances of Shankar Nag and Ananth Nag are good. Doddanna is fine as an antagonist. In terms of acting, everyone in this Film are OK. But this film focuses more on Chandra (Shankar Nag), leaving Surya (Ananth Nag) with limited character development. Hence he is not able to offer anything in the context of this Film.

The Director D. Rajendra Babu's handling of the narrative is not up to the mark. The Screenplay attempts to show the corruption within our system, which becomes quite routine and somewhat preachy. The Script follows a formulaic path, which allows the audience to easily guess the next sequence. The brisk narration pace may keep some audience engaged, but it has done little to elevate the overall storytelling.

The music, composed by M. Ranga Rao is one of the film's brighter aspects. The songs add some value to the Film. The cinematography is good enough to capture the essence of the narrative. Overall, "Ramarajyadalli Rakshasaru" is a one time watch for those who love watching vigilante films. Others can skip it.

My Rating: 4/10 Verdict: Below Average.

Aachar & Co is one of my favourite movies of 2023. I felt that senior actors like Ashok and Sudha Belawadi have done well, while others were also good.

Coming to the Technical Aspects, the Script of Aachar & Co is based on the story that is happening in 1960s Bangalore, and it is nice. I loved the Screenplay which is written by Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy, and it is very good. I liked the narration pace, as it is very fast, and I also liked the direction of Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy. There are only couple of songs, and they don't spoil the narration in any way, and they are good. The dialogues and BGM are also very good, and I liked it.

I also loved the way in which characters are developed in Aachar & Co. They are very good. The editing and Cinematography is also very very good, making this Film a must watch for Kannada Cinephiles.

My Rating: 10/10

Verdict: Masterpiece.

Hannele Chiguridaga: A Timeless Brilliance
28 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Hannele Chiguridaga is one of the revolutionary movies in Kannada Cinema. As usual I loved Dr. Rajkumar's acting. He has delivered an outstanding performance as Prasad. Actually everyone has done well, and I loved the performances of all the actors and actresses.

Coming to the Technical Aspects, the Script of Hannele Chiguridaga is based on the novel of the same name by Triveni, and I liked it. I loved the Screenplay which is written by M. R. Vittal, and it is very good. I found the he narration pace to be slightly slow in the 1st Half, but it picks up well in the 2nd half. Direction of M. R. Vittal is excellent, and I liked all the songs in this album, and Yes, Hannele Chiguridaga is an album with no bad songs. I liked the dialogues, as well as the BGM (Background Music) of M. Ranga Rao, which is very good.

I loved the way in which characters are developed in Hannele Chiguridaga. They are very good. I also liked the Editing, and Cinematography.

Apart from the fact that the narration is slightly slow in the 1st Half, there is no other minus point, which makes Hannele Chiguridaga a must watch for Kannada Cinephiles.

My Rating: 9/10

Verdict: Outstanding.

Honganasu: Unveiling the Peaks and Valleys of an experimental journey
28 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Honganasu is a kind of experimental movie in Kannada Cinema. This is the second collaboration between Rathnaja and Prem, after Nenapirali. I liked Prem's acting, and he has done well in his role. Sharan and Shobhraj have also done well, and I loved those comedy scenes. Anuradha Mehta who plays the role of Prem's yet to be sister-in-law is so immature in her role, and she wasn't the ideal fit. The other heroine Anjali is fine.

Coming to the Technical Aspects, the Script of Honganasu is OK. I somehow felt dissatisfied with the Screenplay written by Rathnaja, as it pales in front of the Screenplay he had written for Nenapirali. I felt the narration pace to be very good in the 1st Half, but there is a lag in the 2nd Half with significant holes. If we compare the Direction of Rathnaja in Nenapirali to this Film, this unfortunately pales in front of that. But I loved all the songs in this album, and Yes, Honganasu is an album with no bad songs. Rathnaja tries to show the affection and attachment between Prem and his yet to be sister-in-law as pure and transparently honest, but fails as the Screenplay here is so unrealistic, with no authenticity. The script is spoiled because of this unrealistic Screenplay. Dialogues are OK, and I loved the BGM (Background Music) of Hamsalekha, which is very good.

Even the way in which characters are developed in Honganasu is somewhat dissastisfactory, as Prem's elder brother character has no scope at all, which again links with the unrealistic Screenplay. Editing is also very poor, and Cinematography is satisfactory.

If not for that affection and attachment concept between Prem and his yet to be sister-in-law, this could have been a very good film. But the director missed the trick. If the Script is about affection and attachment between the Hero and his Sister-in-law with great scope given to elder brother's character, the Film would have been in the list of great films. Also this is the kind of movie that perhaps Vishnuvardhan should have done in the 1980s. Anyhow, Honganasu is an experimental Film which is let down by silly mistakes the Director could have avoided.

My Rating: 5/10

Verdict: Average.

Kshetrapathi: A Masterful Tale of Farmer's Resilience
24 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Kshetrapathi is my favourite movie of 2023. I loved Naveen Shankar's acting, and he has given a very good performance. Archana Jois of KGF fame has done her part well, as a female lead, and as usual I liked Achyuth Kumar's performance.

Coming to the Technical Aspects, the Script of Kshetrapathi is nice, and I liked it. I also liked the Screenplay, which is outstanding. I liked the narration pace as it is very fast, and I also liked the direction of Shrikanth Katagai, considering that this is his debut Film, he has done really well. Songs are very good. The scene where Naveen Shankar explains the other farmers about their importance, and how exactly corporates are trying to ruin them is really amazing. There are scenes which also shows the reality of the Police department, who is interested in protecting the system rather than people, and this are also very good scenes. There were reports that some parts were lagging, but the Film Team has removed them upon hearing the reviews from the audience, and by the time I watched this Film, those scenes were removed. I loved the dialogues and BGM (Background Music) of Ravi Basrur, which are very good.

I liked the way in which characters are developed in Kshetrapathi. It is really very very good. I liked the editing, and also the Cinematography of Vidya Bala is very good.

Kshetrapathi even teaches us the power of unity. This is surely a must watch Film.

My Rating: 10/10

Verdict: Masterpiece.
