Monkey Man (2024)
Exciting ride
I thought the movie was really good. I enjoyed it throughout and the action was almost nonstop. Dev Patel is giving his all with this one. Not sure why the rating isn't over 7 at this point.
The movie moved very well and didn't have any stale parts. The gore is plentiful and not for everyone for sure. Over the top meets over the top.
I thought this movie reminded me of big trouble in little China meets John wick meets Slumdog Millionaire. I can't figure out which one the most but definitely parts of all three.
The only gripe I had was what happened with his friend who hired him in the end? Besides that the cinematography was award winning.
Finestkind (2023)
More than decent
This was a good movie. Fall River/New Bedford aren't the normal NE fishing towns. This flick dives in and shows us how people get sucked into "the suck" and love every moment of it. It was a good not particularly great movie. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't take themselves too seriously. Jenna did a nice job of encapsulating the areas culture. She was a good choice for a fisherman's gal and daughter of a broken house.
All in all it's worth a watch and a 7 rating. I'd wait till it's on Netflix or Prime though. I think 5.8 which it is currently at is a bit too low. What do you think?
Luck (2022)
Cute family movie
This was well done! I enjoyed the whole movie. Was it a bit cliche in some regards? Yes! But it's okay and the whole family from 7-42 liked it a a lot! My only gripe: why is there always an orphan or single parent involved?
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)
A great journey
I went to high school with the writer/director Tom G. He did an awesome job on this one! Really loved it and hope everyone doesn't take it too seriously. It's like a movie inside a movie that's also a parody.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022)
Quite enjoyable
I only caught about half of the first with the kiddos but was pleasantly surprised at #2 being really good. Kept my interest the whole movie! Jim Carrey was really good!
Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too (2019)
I liked it
Not my fav BM episode but it was entertaining and I thought Miley was great. Wasted plot in some regards (ie the dad and the mouse trap thing) but overall it was a solid episode.
Love & Mercy (2014)
Great movie
I really enjoyed this movie. It was 2 hours and I rarely say this but... I would've enjoyed another 20 mins or so to dig into the family dynamic, esp. The abuse from dad.
