A cinema "Classic" that has aged incredibly well.
11 June 2024
The movie tells the story of a US Army general who goes rogue and orders a nuclear attack on Russian soil, triggering a potential global catastrophe. As the US president and his war room grapple with the impending doomsday scenario, they must make crucial decisions to avert nuclear Armageddon.

One of the remarkable features of this film is Peter Sellers' portrayal of three vastly different characters: the US President, Lionel Mandrake; an RAF exchange officer; and Dr. Strangelove, an eccentric ex-Nazi nuclear expert.

This movie's exploration of the specter of nuclear annihilation remains extremely pertinent in today's world, where the threat of nuclear war continues to loom large.

Hit Man (2023)

Fresh and original "Rom-Com"
11 June 2024
The movie re-tells the true story of Gary Johnson, a nerdy-looking university teacher who goes undercover as a Hit Man for the Police, resulting in tens of arrests. While undercover as "Ron" he meets Madison, a wife looking to kill her over-controlling husband. After their first meeting, Ron convinces her to leave his husband, and they start a steamy relationship that quickly brings chaos into both of their lives.

It's rare to see new and original ideas in cinema, and to see them well executed is even rarer. Hit Man is all that with very popular lead Glen Powell, who seems to be on a roll, and the incredibly beautiful and talented Adria Arjona. Their chemistry is incredible.

Glen Powell had an incredible performance, portraying multiple personalities all of them with flawless ease. From the nerdy real teacher to cold killer or confident lover.

I was skeptical, but this was incrdible.

Warning: Spoilers
First of all, this film was very very good. I would recommend it to anyone.

In the last moments of WWII, Koichi Shikishima flees his "honourable" death as a kamikaze pilot and ends up on a little island. There he first encounters Gojira, a gigantic monster. After bloodshed on the island, Shikishima returns to mainland Japan. Where he meets Noriko, a young woman who has been taking care of an orphan baby. After months of working disabling old bombs from the war. Godzilla strikes again but this time he hits the shore of Tokyo. After Noriko is presumed dead, a group of civilians try to defeat the kaiju. With Shikishima setting foot back in the cockpit of a fighter.

At first was a bit skeptical about this movie, but it is insane. The VFX is worthy of the Oscar win, the atomic breath looks incredibly real. The performance from every actor is spotless, you can feel their fear and will to survive.

A unique love/friendship story.
27 April 2024
The story revolves around three tennis players - two males and one female. The two male players, Art Donalson (played by Mike Faist) and Patrick Zweig (played by Josh O'Connor) have been friends since very young and were inseparable in youth, while on the junior US Open, they meet Tashi Duncan (Zendaya). With whom they both fall in love. During university. Patrick and Tashi dated but after a career-ending injury, Tashi Duncan becomes a coach for Art, whom she eventually marries.

This film immediately caught my attention, with its back-and-forth time structure that connected the sets with the acts in the film. The acting by all three starring actors was really good, and the directing by Luca Guadagnino was great. The film was structured interestingly, with great camera work and scenes. Although the movie is a drama, it has its funny moments and callbacks.

The Fall Guy (2024)

A love letter to movies.
27 April 2024
"The Fall Guy" is a movie filled with action-packed stunts, displaying David Leitch's passion for movies and stunts. Being an ex-stuntman and body double himself, he has put his heart and soul into this film.

The movie revolves around Colt (Ryan Gosling), a skilled stuntman who suffers a severe injury on set. After a year of being away from the movie industry and his girlfriend Jody (Emily Blunt), who is the director of a new movie, Colt is approached by Gail (Hannah Waddingham), one of the producers of the movie, to help find Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), the main actor of the movie, who has gone missing. Colt travels to Sydney to help find him and make a comeback to the movie scene.

I really enjoyed watching this movie. The stunts were flawlessly executed and the movie references and jokes blended in seamlessly, making them funny and natural. It's refreshing to see a comedy blockbuster that's both original and entretaining. The star-studded cast added to the overall freshness of the movie.

Action Action Action Action Action Action

Michael Bay has returned with an action-packed movie featuring Ryan Reynolds (One) a billionaire, Mélanie Laurent (Two) ex CIA , Michael Garcia-Rulfo (Three) a cartel Hitman, Ben Hardy (Four) a parkour thief, Adria Arjona (Five) a doctor, Dave Franco (Six) the teams driver and Corey Hawkins (Seven) and US army snipper. The team of ghosts faked their deaths to fight corruption and evil in the world.

Although the movie's screenplay is bland and flat, the bright cinematography and action keep us entertained. As the movie progresses, it becomes more and more tense, making it enjoyable to watch. Now that this universe has been established, a sequel with a new mission would be great to see.

Civil War (2024)
8/10
Incredibly tense.
22 April 2024
I have noticed that many people have criticized this film for its lack of world-building, but I strongly disagree with this viewpoint. I believe that the absence of world-building makes the film better. It prompts you to question which side to support, and who to trust, and most importantly, it allows you to imagine what led to a second US Civil War. Given the current political climate in the world, with many open conflicts and the upcoming US election campaign, I don't find this film to be so "far-fetched."

Regarding the movie itself, I found the acting to be brilliant. Kirsten Dunst was outstanding in her role as an experienced war photographer. I also enjoyed Stephen McKinley Henderson's portrayal of an old journalist, and Jesse Plemons, despite having a small role, performed exceptionally.

John Wick if he was way over his head.
15 April 2024
First of all, let's talk about the production of the film. For 10m$ and being Dev Patel's directorial debut, this film not only delivers but surpasses my expectations. The story felt original, which is rare in this day and age, and loved all the Indian culture and mythology. Yes, it's inspired but other action revenge stories like John Wick and Extraction, but at the same time it has its style.

The movie follows "Bobby", who, after a traumatic event in his childhood, seeks revenge on the people who killed his mother. Loved how he had a plan to do so, and while he looks to have everything in control, he doesn't.

Enjoyed it, and looking forward to seeing more from Dev Patel in the director seat.

Gives you an inside point of view of the interview.
12 April 2024
I distinctly remember the moment when this interview was first aired. The entire experience was intriguing, and it was fascinating to see how everything fell into place and the people who made it possible. It made me appreciate the effort that goes into producing such TV programs. The movie not only shed light on the host and journalists but also highlighted the great work done by everyone from the camera operators to the writers.

I was thoroughly impressed by the acting in the movie. Every actor performed exceptionally well, but Rufus Sewell's portrayal of Prince Andrew and Billy Piper's performance as Sam McAllister stood out. Their acting was so convincing that it drew me in.

It's getting a bit repetitive.
10 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed watching Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) because it was great to see the Ghostbusters concept outside of New York City, and I loved the new characters. However, the latest film is everything but that. We are back in New York City, and the story is very similar to Ghostbusters II, almost identical. Furthermore, it's silly that the foe of the movie could not have escaped if it weren't for the Ghostbusters.

The film has too many characters, which makes it more of a burden than a gift. They are struggling to fit them all into one movie. The original cast of the 80s and the brand new characters from Afterlife are all returning.

I would like to see the franchise continue but with a bit of a twist. Maybe they could focus on one or two characters and move away from New York.

The Beekeeper (2024)

Everything you want from an action film.
10 April 2024
When I first heard about this movie, I was intrigued by its cast and crew - David Ayer and Jason Statham. And I wasn't disappointed. The film turned out to be a highly entertaining action flick.

The story revolves around Mr. Clay (played by Statham), a former government agent who now lives a peaceful life as a beekeeper. But when someone he cares for deeply is harmed, he takes matters into his own hands and sets out to seek revenge.

The action sequences in this movie are incredible, with expertly choreographed fight scenes that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The plot is classic, and who doesn't love a good revenge story? All in all, this movie delivers what you'd expect from an action movie.

An up-to-date coming-of-age story.
10 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The young aspect of our society has changed drastically in the past years, and it's good to see a movie that shows that. Especially their relationship with sex and consent.

How to Have Sex, tells the story of three female friends who go on a girls-holiday to Greece. From the perspective of Tara (Mia McKenna-Bruce), a 16-year-old virgin, and both their friends, an envy-prone Skye (Lara Peake) and Em (Enva Lewis).

After a wild and blurry couple of nights out, and a "strange" sexual interaction, Tara finds herself on a path of self-reflexion.

A must-watch movie for any young person, to reflect on our actions.

Beautiful sequel to the Sci-Fi classic.
9 April 2024
It can be quite challenging to create a sequel to a movie as iconic and beloved as the original Blade Runner from 1982. However, the follow-up film, Blade Runner 2049, is a stunning masterpiece in its own right.

The movie follows Officer K (played by Ryan Gosling), a replicant who works for the LAPD. His job is to track down and "retire" older model replicants. However, during one of his missions, he discovers something that could change everything. To unveil the truth, he seeks out the help of Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former Blade Runner who has seemingly vanished from the world.

The cinematography in this movie is a work of art, making it one of the most visually stunning films ever. The special effects and music are also top-notch, creating a convincing and immersive sci-fi world.

Snake Eyes (2021)
5/10
It has potential, but it falls short.
9 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a big fan of the G. I. Joe characters, but the film adaptation is just not working. It's not their first attempt at rebooting the franchise, and it probably won't be the last one, but they are just not giving them enough time to connect to the characters, rushing their relationships; for example, in this movie, the brother relationship between Tommy and Snake Eyes felt rushed, without emotion.

The only thing good about the film is its world-building and good action scenes.

Average performances from everyone involved. Henry Golding plays the lead, Andrew Koji (Storm Shadow), and Úrsula Corberó (Baroness), just to name a few.

I hope the sequel gets green-lit, and they give this franchise a second chance.

Chef (2014)

"Chef" is an entertaining family comedy that is full of spice and flavour.
8 April 2024
The movie follows Carl Jasper (Jon Favreau), a successful but bored chef who quits his fine dining job after receiving a bad review and facing a viral scandal. He decides to open a food truck and along the way, he reconnects with his son.

The film features a star-studded cast, including John Leguizamo as his second-hand cook and friend, Scarlett Johansson as a professional colleague who is very close to him, Sofia Vergara as his ex-wife, Robert Downey Jr. As his ex-wife's old husband, and Dustin Hoffman as his boss.

It's a must-watch movie that will leave you not only with a smile on your face but also with a hungry stomach.

Entertaining for now.
8 April 2024
The latest addition to the Monsterverse is quite entertaining. However, I wonder how long these movies can continue to be released without becoming too repetitive.

The movie's plot revolves around Kong living in the Hollow Earth, while Godzilla is busy fighting Titans on the surface.

The returning human characters include Bernie (played by Brian Tyree Henry), Dr. Andrews (played by Rebecca Hall), her daughter Jia, and some exciting new additions such as Trapper (played by Dan Stevens).

The visual effects remain impressive, with incredible scale.

While I hope to see more from this universe, I would love to see some unique ideas and better-developed human characters.

A Sci-Fi epic at it's finest.
7 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I could go on and on about why this movie is incredible, but I will save both my time and yours.

Incredible acting by everyone in the film, especially from Rebecca Ferguson, Austin Butler, and Javier Bardem. Really hope it doesn't go unnoticed.

A classic Sci-Fi story perfectly adapted to the motion picture, it's clear the passion with which it's adapted by Denis Villeneuve.

Beautiful cinematography, really worth the pain it must've been to film in deep desert.

The score is thrilling, with instant classics and very unique sounds.

The visuals are just unbeatable. There's one particular shot near the end of the film. In which an all-chrome spaceship glides through Arrakis, and the reflections on its surface are perfect.

A MUST WATCH IN THE CINEMA. You cannot recreate the experience of watching this on the big screen.
