Never got to see this when first broadcast, so was keen to watch, when advertised on Talking Pictures TV (UK) Freeview Channel 82.

Unfortunately you cannot blame the age of the broadcast, it is just not up to any standard.

The three main characters the series is all about, should have shot them in the first episode, put us all out of our misery.

I've seen more character development in Captain Pugwash (Google It)

I am surprised it manage to make so many episodes, I am sadisticly working my way through them, hopefully they may get better, not very confident.

Don't let me put you off, have a look, make your own mind up.

Anything with Conleth Hill and Brenda Fricker has to be worth watching.

You can find faults with every over hyped drama on television these days.

Just keep to simple story telling.

Authentic locations and wardrobe, but souless characters in PC land.

Read the book and visualise for yourself, more enjoyable, or watch original movie.

Don't bother watching any other version... it will not better this ageless classic.

I've seen a lot of bad movies over the years... This is so bad it's brilliant, a much watch... My only criticism is, there were no cardboard sets , this movie deserved. Thank you Talking Pictures for finding this gem.

Save your money and go and watch something else.... Bugsy Malone was more realistic as downtown Chicago, then this was as middle age Nottingham.
