Carol & The End of the World (2023)
A Phenomenal Animated Journey
"Carol & the End of the World" blew me away. It's a phenomenal animated masterpiece that blends humor, artistry, and profound storytelling. Delivering some of the finest animation, the series is consistently hilarious, with a unique artistic quality that really captivated me. I feel that it also skillfully imparted a few valuable messages which made me feel like I wasn't just wasting time watching telly. I also think the soundtrack should also be notes, it was brilliant and very much enhanced the narrative (coming from someone who studies film music composition at uni!). The characters are all unique and feel quite realistic and like real normal people, embodying genuine human qualities. The show presents an affirming take on the apocalypse, where the impending end of the world serves as a backdrop for Carol's journey of self-discovery. The voice acting is great and Martha Kelly truly brings Carol to life with an abashed yet resolute tone, making her a brilliantly ordinary yet compelling character. This Netflix gem is very much thanks to the creativity of creator Dan Guterman and the collaborative brilliance of the production team. Fantastic watch.
Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too (2019)
People get angry because it's different
Firstly, this episode was an incredible watch, and took be back to concepts seen in other episodes such as "White Christmas" which I personally thoroughly enjoyed.
I was constantly entertained. And it didn't take itself too seriously either, some comedic elements that I loved.
A must watch episode. Doesn't deserve all the negative reviews.
At World's End (2019)
Brilliant shots, Eerie Moments, gripping story line.
From the very first episode I was instantly amazed by the quality of this mini series. Drone shots, amazing angles, something I wouldn't expect from someone so young working essentially on there own.
The story line becomes even more gripping when we enter the camera diaries. It may seem cliché, but it fits extremely well, with fantastic acting.
This guy is a talented game designer and horror game developer, and sure does know how to send a shivver down your spine.
I always get excited as a new episode comes out, as I really do enjoy wondering what's going to happen!
8/10. Would recommend a watch, the episodes are a nice perfect length.
