Dead End (2022)

A Mixed Review of "Dead End" - Netflix Polish TV Series
23 June 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The series delivers a compelling and enjoyable narrative up until its final episode, where a surprising and violent conclusion leaves viewers divided. The climax, featuring unexpected murders and the incineration of pivotal funds, diverges sharply from the build-up, leaving some disappointed. Despite this, the complexities of the characters and the dramatic twists add depth to the storyline, making it an engaging watch with a bittersweet aftertaste.

"Leon wants to protect his extremely bright, but often getting into trouble, daughter at all costs. When Diana gives him unusual news, the man skips another sip of firewater and rushes to the pawn shop to get some funds for his trip to the Czech Republic. To redeem himself, he takes two additional passengers on the trip - Klara and Wojtek. The former had just ended a loveless relationship, while the latter met a girl online, creating a completely unrealistic image of his life. Instead of a charismatic ghostwriter from Italy, his girlfriend is to meet a young loser who still lives with his overprotective and domineering mother. So we get quite a sad package of people who are on the brink, and for them Cieszyn is not only a destination, but a chance for a new beginning. By a simple twist of fate, their paths cross with a guy who recently robbed a bank and stole a large amount of money. Their fight begins with very high stakes - and I don't mean just 2 million."
