High school isn't like this at all please for the love of God stop making these horrible, horrible cheesy and stereotypical high school movie. The only good things this movie has going for it is body positivity and a well developed antagonist. Being problematic isn't even the worst thing it has going for it, it's also just bad.

This movie is worth the watch. Some say it was overtly political - and I would say to get over yourself. The plot was thoroughly engaging and the main characters developed in wholesome ways. The world building?? The scenery???? Beautiful. A feast for the eyes. If you can't handle political commentary, get over yourself. Not everyone gets to escape the thought of political happenings when they so choose. This is the future of movie making, and the past of movie making. Movies will always reflect our worlds situation, even if it is less obvious, context will always matter.

Dry Dialogue and Characters

Nothing special here folks, just pandering to the activist community. Sure, I'm a feminist and I'm happy a woman got to direct this film, but... this is just boring. Like Basil Court said, bad dialogue, bad CGI, horrible choice of accompanying music throughout. Big yikes, because this could've been such a good moment in film, but Basil is right again as this does not in the slightest compare to the Marvel films that capture audiences.

I'll give the main actor creds for being a cutie, and Zendaya creds for being herself, but other than that there's not much happening in this movie that doesn't happen in every other hero movie. 7/10 for the editors though, they did great.

Some say it's about an emotionally manipulative girl. And I agree, the main character is manipulative. But the character development in this movie makes it very fulfilling to watch. The story arc is done so well, and the world is built very thoroughly. I would watch this movie and take note of the wonderful world building and character DEVELOPMENT.

If you're a book purist, of course you're not going to like a movie. They can't get it exactly the same, with the same amount of detail. Otherwise the movie would be a great deal longer and nobody has the time or budget for that, do they?
Now that we've got that covered, this movie had me on the edge of my chair and fully engaged the whole time. The dialogue and world building was of course in part due to the original stories, but the adaptation fit perfectly for a movie and the movie itself was absolutely stunning. The scenery and cinematography was on spot, the editing was beautifully paced, and the CGI is classic 2007 CGI- not very convincing now but, the voice actors did a wonderful job.
Kudos to the team and actors that made this wonderful film.

This is the beginning of something new- literally, there's a second part. Not sure if it's on Netflix so I can't say I'm too motivated to seek out the second part, or sure if it's even out yet. But what I am sure of is that the animation of this project is a gift to the eyes, the dialogue is fantastic, and the characters are so very curious. I did have questions at the end, I wasn't terribly inspired but was certainly entertained. Fantastic short!

Absolutely worth the watch if you can just suspend your disbelief with the CGI, because the storytelling and world-building is just out-of-this-world. Heh. See what I did there?
Beautiful Cinematography

As a film major, the cinematographic work done here was very awe inspiring. As a lover of the mysteries of the deep sea, I was just a tad deflated when I saw mickey mouse at the end. Okay, maybe very deflated. But in reading the other reviews on IMDB, I do think Damien deserves some credit for actually having us convinced. That's the magic of storytelling after all, is it not? The scale of this project must have been immense, and he did a wonderful job. I do absolutely loathe the font choice for the Netflix cover and the DVD cover, but the whole film was incredibly well made, with a climax and resolution and "aha" moment. The concept of documentary is one that needs to be re-examined under a critical light anyways. You do know the editors and directors and script writers of your favorite documentaries hold you in the palm of their hands with the credibility you give them? There is always a reason, a motive, behind why they are making the documentary that is not always to spread exact truth but more so to rally troupes behind their cause.
So, well done Damien. Well done.
